Yep, because God knows the very first XI a team fields sets the tone for a club for its entire existence. Just ask Manchester United! When AU were formed, we took the guts of our squad from Adelaide City. Did I care? Hell No, I felt the unbelievable joy of finally having a team I identified with closely that I could support in the National League. As soon as I saw the sekem: red/yellow/blue home kit, I ‘knew’ this was the team for me.

Anyone already bailing on WSW is either a troll or never ’knew’ that feeling and therefore wasn’t likely to become a true fan anyway, just a joy riding glory hunter...good riddance. If you’re happy watching football on the box and never knowing the joy that comes from witnessing in the flesh your team turn over those ‘bastards from over there’ then I guess it sucks to be you. I hope you continue to enjoy football at 80% intensity.

WSW has so far signed only two Croations while Sydney FC have one. And people want to call us Croatia.
Now obviously some people are just taking the piss but for those who actually have the shits about the latest two signings just makes me shake my head at their stupidity. If you wont support WSW because of this reason then dont and while your at it stop supporting your top EPL clubs who have alot more overseas players then locals.
Im not even of Croatian background but i dont care what country we sign players from. What will piss me off is if they are shit not where they are from.
Poppavic is of Croation background and you dont need to be a rocket scientist to figure out he would have some more better relaible connections in Croatia then say Greece to spot good players for him which is why he would be more sure in signing a Croation and the same rule applies to any other manager from whatever background just like Arsene Wenger having a better connection signings French players. As i said its the quality of the player signed that means more to me.
At the end of the day the reason i will still go for WSW even though these two Croations have signed for us is because im a fan of the club because it is going to me my local club and im simply not racist like the people who really have taken offence.
Now for those counting Poppa,Milicic,and Covic as Cros,well that one is easy. Stop supporting your national team because there is more then two in there thats forsure and while your at it quit supporting the A-League as a whole because every single A-League team pretty much has a shit load of different nationalities in them.

Now perhaps your starting to understand west sydney and it's culture. It is a melting pot of different cultures. For West Sydney to become effective and a force in the a-league they must overcome their differences. IE: Croatians and Serbians must put their differences aside and stand together as one under the Wanderers as does every other culture of west sydney.

Popovic has the hardest job of any coach given the past history of west sydney's tribal nature of football that was created by a bunch idiots. Tribal football was a bad mistake of the past and has caused more division of cultures than anything. Poppa has to unite the cultures or it's doomed to fail.

Trust what I say, i've lived in west sydney for over 50 years and been involved at just about every level as player, coach, manager and i've forgotten more about the politics of the west than most people on this forum even know.

Every culture of the west wants a slice of the action and if one culture becomes shutout this will cause a ripple effect.

Wish wanderers the best but myself and many others are no further convinced from day 1 until now things are changing for the better. With my ear to the ground i'm hearing its full steam ahead ignore the issues.

So Erebus as much as you don't like the discussion to be about culture unfortunatley it is the number 1 hurdle for west sydney's success.

Understand from your mod point of view. The culture of wanderers is not a side issue. It's a "core" issue vital to it's success. Wanderers staff say this many times in their public interviews.

If a new thread was created then going around in circles for the 100th time is precisely what will happen until the issue is addressed by wanderers. If it is obvious as you say then why is it still happening? If the blind can see it and the deaf can hear it does that mean the mute cannot speak of it?

Public debate requires all sides of the coin to be seriously looked at and debated. If this topic is just a hype and bullshit tool for wanderers fans to "officially" blow cherries up each others arse then have fun. It's of no "official" value.

people need to put things into perspective, its a couple of players, big deal. im a syd fc supporter but i ahve to congratulate everyone at west syd for what theyve acheived to date, its great for football in west sydney and for the game generally.

A few people seem to want to go watch the match, but I doubt more than a handful will actually turn up.
