Very happy about that, a hugely underrated player last year, he is a workhorse, very happy he is staying around

getting the updates from the game against guangzhou R&F 4-0 to the wanderers. Santalab scores the first, then Haliti scores the next 2 goals and Hersi helps himself with the 4th of the match. more goals to come? we'll see Make that 5-0 to the wanderers with another hersi goal. 88' http://www.westsydneyfootball.com/topic/4670-guangzhou-rf-vs-western-sydney-wanderers-892013-1130pm/Edited by heyitsrobbie: 8/9/2013 03:16:10 PM

Wanderers currently losing 2-1 to Tokyo Verdy after 55 minutes.
Goals in first half to Yoshino & Takahara, although the Wanderers have been dominating with 9 shots to 5 and 60% of possession (and Verdy's mostly in their own half). Just poor finishing by the sounds of it.
Santalab scored in the 54th minute, after leadup from Mooy and Bridge. Already had several more chances in the second half so should get a result unless they continue to be unclinical in front of goal.

Santalab was only brought on at half-time. From memory, he now has 4 goals for the pre-season and is making a strong case to be starting over Juric.

Rocket from Santalab just kept out by the keeper. He is definitely up-ing the intensity.

Meh, couldn't capitalise on their chances in the end and went down 2-1. Positive match though with the bulk of possession and chances. Many encouraging signs for the season ahead.

obviously couldn't see the game so had to rely on facebook updates. if we did create chances, then nothing to worry about really. all up a draw, a win and a loss. not bad.

Memberships officially sold out.
The only ones available are the non-ticketed kind "out of towner" and "supporter"
Hopefully this guarantees minimum of 16k at every home game, regardless of results. Only time will tell I guess.

Hopefully this guarantees minimum of 16k at every home game, regardless of results. Only time will tell I guess. I think an average above 16,000 is possible depending on how many wet days we get. We got 11,200 for the wet game against Perth last season which was nearly 3,000 down on the average for the last half of the season. I did a calculation based on an average $15 per game per member and it gave a total guaranteed income of fractionally over $3m with a potential of another $0.8m in the extremely unlikely event that all games are sold out. With $2.5m distribution from the FFA we only need $2m from additional sales, corporates, sponsorships, and merchandise to cover the average spend of A-League clubs which is $7.5m. Of course we will have to cover the cost of competing in the ACL as well. Edited by gyfox: 19/9/2013 01:28:51 PM

Of course you don't need me to tell you all to give yourselves a nice big pat on the back. :d Despite the circle jerk, let me say this (which is what people I know have said to me personally): You know what? Its perfect that we had such a good season on the pitch last year. Sure there were bandwagoners etc, but for a start up club in its first season, that is the perfect season to have. It gets people interested and hopefully for the long term. If WSW struggled in their first season then the team would be fighting it out with GWS to get supporters. Have a couple of really good seasons, let the bandwagoners come and they might just stay for the bad times too. edit: based off the evidence of NQF and Heart's inclusion who struggled with results in their first year (or two), having an expansion team having a strong season could have lasting effects on the supporter base. Yo, many people tracking out to the Riff for the game on Sunday?
Should be a sweet game. rAdelaide have been playing some good football in pre-season from what I've heard and seen and it'll be interesting to see how the Dad's Army of Western Sydney are tracking after their trip to Japan.

Although the purists who hate the salary cap and any sort of measure designed to level the playing field will hate this suggestion, it does make you question whether it may be legitimate to give new clubs concessions of some sort to ensure they are competitive. The Wanderers arguably wouldn't have been nearly as successful on the field without the extra visa spot they used, and if they didn't play so well who knows what the crowds and buzz would be. But new teams won't naturally be as successful on the field - I imagine WSW will be a unique case. But if the crowds don't follow new teams that suck and we are actually more serious about growing the game than winning the trophy in 1 particular year, then maybe we should be giving them these sort of concessions like extra visa spots, extra marquee spot and the like. Hell, I would happily forgo a few wins in a season if it guaranteed the survival of the next 2 teams to join.

Last post I saw had PAX of 4340 for the pre-season game at Penrith. That was at 1:17pm today.

But part of be baulks at a $20 admission fee for a pre-season match and feels like boycotting, especially when you add in the $4.95 Ticketek processing fee (+ another 1.95% if you use debit/credit card). Even for concessions it becomes $15 minimum with all these extras. Load of crap. Edited by kamaryn: 19/9/2013 05:42:49 PM

I agree the $20 for a A-League trial game is a fucking joke and a major rip off, however i will still be going and have already got my tickets. Even from the club point of view i think it would have been much wiser to have $10 tickets and get a bigger crowd then some NRL games for only one of our trials. Now that would have been making a big statement which i would have preferred.

Saw the facebook status about memberships being sold out. Great news.
Also got an away jersey from Rebel penrith today, only $100, I was stoked. I thought rebel would be exorbitant.
although, on the negative side, I only just realised it after I took it off this afternoon, but the thing smells ridiculously bad with B.O (not mine either)

The reason the ticket prices are what they are is because of the rental fees associated with Penrith stadium. It is expensive to rent and I dare say due to our snub of the panthers offer last month it would have only been made higher. Yes its a shame, but the club has little choice, unless we expect the club to lose money?

No business runs at a loss or breaks even if it can be avoided. If it reduces our overall financial loss this year then im happy with whatever measures are taken. The club could have set that price to break even on a certain crowd number though. With things like this its always difficult to predict numbers and true costings
