Now what with Tyrion? That ending (despite Tywin's comments) has Tyrions future still up in the air

Did anyone here actually enjoy the whole beetle dialogue?
I did, but I feel I may be in the minority.

Though I haven't seen the actual scene itself, I'm disappointed as I much prefer the book
Smashing in The Vipers face with a metal glove rather than this over the top squeezing his head until it pops that the show went with
but then I've all but given up on the show as it is too differnet in many parts for me to enjoy it.
I'll just wait in the Winds til TWOW is released.

The portrayal of
Stannis
is particularly disappointing. I wouldn't be holding your breath for that book, apparently he's only written 168 pages

The quote is from his editor saying that he sent him 168 pages back in February 2013 to get his payment like PB said. His editor says that she expects the book to be finished "reasonably soon." It'll most probably be next year considering The World of Ice and Fire is coming out at the end of this year.

I think it's best to treat them as separate entities. There are always going to be differences and granted some of them are going to be stupid but all in all I think they are doing a fantastic job of adapting it.

We all know he's putting on an act to an extent from earlier seasons. I just love how everyone is sick of his kiss-ass bullshit. The main motivation of this scene was not to uncover Pycelle's disguise....its more to do with Tywin Lannister pulling out the fish and having them for dinner. Its significant because it was done in Season 3 in reference to the downfall of the Tullys in the Red Wedding. (Tullys have a fish trout as their sigil). Edited by SocaWho: 6/6/2014 12:03:29 AM

I just sit their watching it going but what about........ they cut out...... They've completely changed the portrayal of......... notorganic wrote:A bit precious, don't you think? No, just frustrated by it all. I read the books over about 5 months, devouring every brilliantly written page and then sat down to watch the show and just lost patience with it. I get for some people it's a great show and heaps of people who haven't read the books enjoy it in the same way I enjoyed the books and that's fine. Just so you know though I do like the portrayal of the Hound, Bronn (best bromance since Troy and Abed) and Tyrion (though removing him from the first battle was wrong as it made him seem comical) TWOW is ear marked for release sometime in the fall (spring) of 2015 from what I've read. but then the show still has at least 3 seasons of material to draw on for feast of crows and Dance with Dragons.

Anybody know of a good site to stream GoT in decent quality? I figure all the lecture theatres at uni will be abandoned tomorrow so I may as well make the most of it..

Mediocre episode to be honest, expected more. You have hundreds of men running towards the wall, and then only a few dozen scale it? I guess it is a TV show, but the scale of the battle (like Blackwater) was disappointing. Also
WHERE THE FUCK IS STANNIS STANNIS STANNIS?
Edit:
Dropping Stannis might be the worst decision that the showrunners have ever made, worse even than that abominable Qarth arc and the butchering of the House of the Undying in S2.
This was supposed to be Stannis moment, his triumphant return and they killed it. Now it'll be wedged somewhere in the middle of episode 10 with absolutely no impact, partly due to the fact they spoiled it back at the end of S3 as well. Why would you dedicate an entire episode to the wall and not provide the climax to the wall storyline in that episode, especially when the episode is only 48 minutes long (once the intro and the Previously On segment are removed). There was at least another 6-8 minutes that they could've used, but unfortunately didn't. The argument that "Stannis arrival doesn't happen until later in the books" doesn't really hold up as the entire siege in the books takes place over an entire week with Styr's assault and Mance's assault occurring on separate days. The decision to put them all on the same day nullifies that, I'm afraid. They cut the episode off at its knees and failed to provide resolution.
Between this and the remainder of Stannis' treatment throughout the previous three seasons, I'm convinced David Benioff and Dan Weiss completely and utterly HATE Stannis. S2's portrayal wasn't bad, but they cut the droll sense of humour out of him (am I the only one who remembers "In your bed she's like to die that way"?). S3 and S4 have just been cruel to Stannis. The beggar king who goes to Braavos despite Stannis' insistence in TWOW that a King does not flee across the narrow sea, he remains in Westeros? Burning "infidels" instead of traitors? That abhorrent butchery of Davos' paper shield?
I guess all and all I'm just disappointed with this bone the showrunners seem to have for Stannis and how they've butchered one of the most intriguing, engaging and conflicting arcs in the entire novel. At least Stephen Dillane is a good actor.
I'm also disappointed that they didn't include "Snow, the wall is yours." "Mine?" "You are a son of Winterfell, the wall is yours or it is no ones."
What a fucking shit episode. Worst one in seasons.
