Being GRRM and a deconstruction of the fantasy genre, I wouldn't be surprised if the Others win at the end  Yep, explains Milly's hardon for dat Snow Shlong. Also theories floating round that when Dany does roll up to westelands that Bran will just mind control her dragons lolololol. -PB

It's A Song of Ice AND Fire, not Ice VS Fire. That's the biggest hint about John SNOW who lives in an Ice wall, being connected to the Queen who walks through fire and owns fire breathing dragons.

Bronn got a cut in that fight with the sand snakes right? Not looking forward to him dining a slow poisonous death.
Any guesses as to what Littlefinger is up to? Always a sneaky bastard hungry for power so I'm guessing he is teaming up with the Tyrells long-term. Will become warden of the North, control the Eire and finally sabotage Cersei when the Tyrells attack. Maybe the Dornish instead. Either way hand of the king in sight. Or he and Varys are in it all together. That would be interesting.

This season sucks. Literally nothing has happened.
The only points of note are Stannis at the wall and the events in Kings Landing. No one cares about this OC Greyworm/Missendi love arc and no one cares about Briane and Pod's adventures in the countryside.
The sand snakes are beyond cringeworthy, worse than the godawful dreadfort "attack".
Worst season yet.
and if D&D kill Stannis like it's been hinted at I will drop this show, there is no one worth watching anymore
Yeah I have to admit it's been a bit dull and Obara Sand makes me cringe.

LF will need to find the right balance...the thing is that LF realises that Stannis doesnt like him either so its a matter of making sure that who is in power wont have his head on a spike by the end of the story.

I can't see it tbh, I think they have a sort of mutual respect in that they were both the smartest men on the small council and highly adept at espionage and manipulation but they're competitive AF too. It's been a while since I saw their scenes together at Kings Landing but I was under the impression they hated each other in spite of their mutual love of scheming. Plus Varys is well aware that LF is just about the most ruthless and untrustworthy cunt in the kingdom so I personally think he'd back just about anyone else.

Judging by Varys's journey to Essos, it really does seem like he wants what is best for the Seven Kingdoms. Whereas Littlefinger seems to want whatever is best for himself. At least, that's the vibe that is definitely unfolding now. But with those two, you can't blink, because they've completely derailed about 50 things in a single moment at any given time.

I agree with that, Varys knows he'll never be able to hold power himself too so I genuinely think he wants to do the right thing and help a worthy ruler take the crown.

Okay, from now on, I need to avoid looking up GoT online in any capacity. I've already spoiled at least three deaths for myself thanks to the internet.
For the first time, but certainly not the last, I began to believe that Arsenals moods and fortunes somehow reflected my own. - Hornby

I've already spoiled at least three deaths for myself thanks to the internet. I attempted to avoid the season in which Joffrey died fully, and which it all in one go. Until I log on to my facebook one day and see a picture of a tweet from GRRM that said "you're welcome" and I thought "yerp, Joffrey is dead" hahaha. GoT, TWD - no one is safe from spoilers. Either watch it early, or avoid the internet altogether until you do watch it.

Thanks for the advice, will avoid all GoT discussion from now on until I catch up (only up to that episode where CIA's character first appears). Also, thank god
Joffrey
just so happened to be one of the three characters whose deaths I'd already spoiled for myself or I'd have had an aneurysm upon opening this thread. Can't wait to see that
smarmy little prick
bite the dust.

Those complaining about how little is happening in this series need to think a bit about plot and structure... There's a lot of groundwork being laid for the second half of the series.

I hope the Iron Islands are introduced next season. Surely they have a big enough part to play in the books that mean they can't be cut entirely in the show?

Thought last nights ep dragged on, much like the past couple of eps. I know it's all the big set up but really its getting quite long in the tooth in parts. Not only that it was interjected by un-needed sex/tits scenes which were kinda there as filler (never thought I'd hear myself say that tits were un-needed). -PB

And salmon pls no baneposting. We're deviating from the books now - different events will be constructed in order to give the show a mid and end season finale - the rest of the shows will build toward those high points. A meandering shambles won't work for the ratings the way it can for book sales. All characters are being expanded, prepared for the next stage.

Casting calls for next season are out. This one is the most interesting for me I think, "Pirate, man in his 40’s to late 50’s. He’s “an infamous pirate who has terrorized seas all around the world. Cunning, ruthless, with a touch of madness.” He’s a dangerous-looking man. A very good part this season." Would assume that has to be
Euron Greyjoy
The rest are here with speculation on who the roles could be http://watchersonthewall.com/game-of-thrones-season-6-casting-has-begun-and-heres-the-list/
