The plot lines are getting further and further away from the book.

They're also killing Tyrions character by stocking his lines with useless dialogues....he's losing relevancy as the show goes on
Danaerys is also a turnoff.
Seems as though the writers make it too easy for her to get what she wants...

I remember the very first game of thrones season 1 where they followed everything to the letter.
It's kind of turned to shit tbh
They don't show the death scenes of the Blackfish or Waif even though they would have been good scenes, the writing this season has been clearly lower quality

And there's too much boring shit happening: I don't want to see Greyworm and that chick become likable I WANT TO SEE SOMETHING FUCKING HAPPEN

And where the fuck is Little Finger, taking his fucking time clearly

Aaaand that siege by the slavers and Dany returning was the best example example of deus ex machina I've ever seen
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Honestly, I can forgive poor writing if it means next week is as epic as it seems.

Also think this week is 100% confirmation of the Cersei/wildfire leaks and theories, and pretty keen to see Olenna and Varys in Dorne.
The fight between Arya and the Waif was in complete darkness so they cant really show it, The Blackfish himself said before his death he had not had a fight in years and would be embarrassing so I doubt he would of put up much of a fight.

We got to see the Waifs face cut off at the end at least.
Yeah unlike some others, the off screen deaths this week actually made some sense not to show.

Another note on next week, it's directed by the same guy who did Hardhome.

Can someone explain to me what the hell the point of wasting four episodes on riverrun was?? Send Brienne and pod there to do nothing and then immediately leave, bring back the blackfish to do nothing and die, and the tully army is not even heading north. All seems like a massive waste of time.

Thought most of this episode was poor and incredibly cheesy. Thank the lord that stupid faceless men shite is over though

Yup.

You can tell there is a very different level of quality when comparing the writing when using actual books as source material and when it just a few dot points from GRRM.

I've hated how the whole Arya shit has turned out. All this training, all this fucking around, all this screentime, just to do the whole "I'm Arya and I'm going home weeee xD" shit.

I mean did you really think the result of the Arya storyline was going to be anything different than what we got? She was never going to become no one and was always going back.

All those cool Arya theories about if it was her that got stabbed ruined . I wonder if the screen writers were reading them thinking, fark this is better than what we have got.

The problem is, too much time gets put into scenes which don't lead to meaningful outcomes.
For example what was the point of the riverrun scene when all Brienne does is make a U turn empty handed and for Edmure to surrender the castle as easily as he did.
And that part of Tyrion talking with Greyeorm missende every episode with dull wit has ruined his character

The first few seasons had plot holes, but I can't remember really feeling the direct Deus Ex Machina that we get in the later seasons, especially with Daenerys. She had the potential to be an interesting and we'll developed character, instead we get given a Mary Sue.

I enjoyed the faceless men arc, I only wish it finished properly rather than this half added "good for you, you go girl" way it ended.

Where the original seasons were dripping in innuendo and every twist was well foreshadowed, the later seasons have been disjointed and abrubt, as though the screenwriters forgot what made the series so good in the first place.

Weiss and Benoif have basically seemed to have made a Quota checklist for what needs to be in each episode without any regard for plot lines ...

Since the awesome "hold the door" reveal, the last few episodes have been really, really disappointing. What was the point of the Riverrun siege story if they were just going to kill it off it like that? And finishing Arya's time in Braavos off like that was unbelievably lazy, possibly the worst passage of story writing in the show so far.

It feels like the conclusions to these sub-plots haven't been fleshed out properly by GRRM and as a result, aren't really connecting to the larger world as they have in the past.

GRRM has had very little to do with the direction this season....in fact this season has seen the most minimal intervention by him out of all the series so far

They went through their half-season tomato sauce budget in that one scene alone.

Hindsight is awesome and all that, but there was always a very real and potential possibility she was going to become no one. Someone (think it was EG?) had a theory she'd become no one and Tyrion/Varys would pay the faceless men, who would send Arya, to kill Jon Snow. The perfect way to get her back west, but with an interestingly different purpose.

I thought yesterdays ep was the weakest of the season. But hopefully it has geared up for a ripper next week.

How many eps are there left this season?

Arya was a child when Ned was killed. She had no skill and very little sword training.
She has had protection on her journey in westoroes nearly every step up until she left the hound for dead.

The "point" of the faceless men arc was so she would receive the training needed to defeat her enemies in a way that does not require wearing 100 kg of armour and a heady blade.

This was the point of her training, this was the point of the faceless men.

I mean did you really think the result of the Arya storyline was going to be anything different than what we got? She was never going to become no one and was always going back.

Just the two isn't it?

Penultimate and finale?

Yep, both directed by the bloke who did the Hardhome episode last season.

Its actually really obvious that this was it and I dont get why people are finding that such a bitter pill to swalow. Im kind of excited to watch her butcher people now tbh.
