This was the point of her training, this was the point of the faceless men.

Its actually really obvious that this was it and I dont get why people are finding that such a bitter pill to swalow. Im kind of excited to watch her butcher people now tbh.

Agreed.

yep, she going home to kill ....

Thought most of this episode was poor and incredibly cheesy. Thank the lord that stupid faceless men shite is over though

Yup.

You can tell there is a very different level of quality when comparing the writing when using actual books as source material and when it just a few dot points from GRRM.

I've hated how the whole Arya shit has turned out. All this training, all this fucking around, all this screentime, just to do the whole "I'm Arya and I'm going home weeee xD" shit.

-PB

I mean did you really think the result of the Arya storyline was going to be anything different than what we got? She was never going to become no one and was always going back.

Hindsight is awesome and all that, but there was always a very real and potential possibility she was going to become no one. Someone (think it was EG?) had a theory she'd become no one and Tyrion/Varys would pay the faceless men, who would send Arya, to kill Jon Snow. The perfect way to get her back west, but with an interestingly different purpose.

I thought yesterdays ep was the weakest of the season. But hopefully it has geared up for a ripper next week.

How many eps are there left this season?

She's a Stark, she was never ever in a million years going to become no one. Like mentioned, the faceless men was a way for her to get the training she needed to finish her list.

Her being a Stark was 85% my main motivator for wanting her to become a villain tbh. Would have been pretty great to see a Stark as a bad guy, at least for a while.

It's not the lack of significance of the ark I question, it's the way they concluded it. It stunk of writing from a lesser series.

In ep6 she makes the decision not to kill the actress, the last you see of her she retrieves needle and sits in a dark corner with her sword. She knows the faceless men will come for her.

Next episode, she inexplicably parades around in public throwing money around, leaning over a bridge, naive as she was in season 1. What the hell? This episode I was just more annoyed that there wasn't any sort of trickery on her part and she was just being an idiot. The whole point of the braavos arc was to progress her character and the last two episodes took a big fat shit on that.

That and the wasted shit with Tyrion having glasses of wine and what not.

Whole season has reeked of lacking decent source material from the novels.

I mean I guess the swanning around and getting stabbed and spending the night with the actress (at the cost of her life) was just Arya's plan to lure the Waif to that dark room where she kept needle?

Worst arc in the series, glad it's over.

Am I the only one who reckons that Tyrion's accent has become more annoyingly British this season?

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Nothing even comes close to Jaime and Bronn in Dorne for worst arc of the series imo

Got no problem with disappointment in the actual story telling, was more in reference to a few posts claiming the faceless men arc was pointless. Whether it was badly executed or not, it did have an important point.

All that happened in Dorne was the complete destruction of what could have been a great story and some of, if not the, worst writing in the series. I mean seriously 'You want a good girl, but you need bad pussy'.

Sure, but I'd consider it the end of the arc if she ends her training and goes back to Westeros. She'll have different motives etc when we next see her.

I'm sure even in seasons past other areas of the show's development such as set designers, costumes/makeup and even the actors themselves profited greatly from GRRM's descriptive writing in the novels to help really flesh out and bring out some of those very qualities in a real life stage or set.

I've said before, I wouldn't be surprised if/when TWoW finally comes out that there are a lot of things done differently to the show.

Do we know how much input GRRM has had directly into these episodes on a ep by ep basis?

Imo it has been one of the best, very strong start and continued for most of the eps until recently but will finish strong again. If you look back on past seasons there is always a dull point where there is filler and some poor writing. For me the biggest let down has been Tyrion and the awkward talks, after he freed the dragons he went down hill due to poor writing.
