On another note am I crazy in thinking that Varys is definitely on his way to Dorne? Feel like I've read every other location under the sun as possible destinations and no mention of Dorne.

When they left all the Bran stuff out of the last season they bought themselves a lot of time and space to tell the rest of the stories - adding him back into this one has made it feel very crowded.

I know writing broke down in a few places but I really like Arya's story, the Hound joining the brotherhood (he might fight in the battle of the bastards now). The twist seemingly denying us Clegane bowl 2016!!!! (that was surley a GRRM moment - bloody tease!). The mountains head rip!!!! Lots of good stuff.

Nah, I thought it was a really weak episode that was saved only by the Clegane stuff. I mean how was the hype in the season trailer, all intense as we see Pod get strangled from behind by an unknown attacker whilst standing in an obvious Lannister-infested war scene, only for it to be such an anti-climax in what happened.

I don't know anyone who thought Pod was in any danger in that scene from the trailer. Everyone just assumed it was Bronn and thus would be a friendly interaction.

After thinking about it more I am just about okay with the Arya in Braavos story, only thing holding it back was the shitty writing in how she got stabbed, but apart from that it was all good and all makes sense story wise. Rest of the episode was great, especially the Hound and Brotherhood and Jaime in Riverrun. So meh was probably a little unfair.

Not real happy to see the Blackfish die after just being brought back. I really would much rather have seen him escape Riverrun and join Jon and Sansa as a tough guy warrior on their side.
However, what's going on with Edmure? How did he turn in such a short space of time and what's his long plan?

I thought it was pretty clear that Jamie's smack talk turned Edmure pretty easily. Long term plan I imagine he's solely interested in getting back to his family. Hindsight will be the winner here but I imagine we'll see bugger all of him again, particularly if Jamie heads straight back to Cersei you'd think Riverrun won't get much runtime anymore. Not seeing much of Edmure would make sense considering the actors role on Outlander.

Being told his heir is going to be catapulted over the walls of riverrun might have done the trick to turn Edmure. I think it makes sense for Edmure to give in...considering the Blackfish didn't give a shit if he died or not. I reckon Blackfish treated Edmure pretty harshly over the course of the series....I mean he heeded the advice of Robb who turned out to be a massive disaster when it came to logic and leadership the only fuck up Edmure ever did was going against Robb when capturing that stone mill Edited by Socawho: 17/6/2016 11:08:56 AM

OK, so maybe I gave Edmure too much credit and thought there must have been something else going on. Even more reason to be disappointed the Blackfish is gone.
