Glad to see Carney back. This. Fuck some of those mugs on this website berating him completely unnecessarily. He tries his best, makes his career choices, and it's up to Holger whether its good enough.

If Australia didn't have the problems with introducing new players and talent into the team I would 100% agree with this. If Carney was simply better and was available, I would be all for his inclusion and selection ahead of Davidson. But we are staring down the barrel of not having anywhere near enough players experienced and able to take up the mantle in the next few years. In this context and acknowledging this reality, to play Carney and not Davidson or someone else young enough to be playing in the years going forward is simple criminal.

You won't find a bigger supporting to regen the NT on 442 than me. But it isn't Carneys fault that Holger selects him. If I was Carney I'd be honoured to be selected and would never knock it back. And honestly, if Carney being back removes McKay from LB then good. If your going to hate on anyone, hate on Holger. He's the clueless fool running this circus.

carney looked ok...not great but ok. Davidson had a better weekend in a better league. That was the cahill of old. He won some difficult aerial duels and somehow turned them into convincing chances and while the finish is hyped up, what excites me more is the fact he manages to ghost around unmarked like he used to. I'm a big supporter of regeneration but cahill and bresc have definitely earned their place. Wilkshires recent club form (in terms of starts in a good league is also good) although his contribution is week. Now we have leckie I would like to see cahill go back to an CAM role for the roos

p.s. here are some stats for some defensive players
wilkshire rating: 6.64 attack Goals Assists Shots Key Passes Dribbles Fouled Offs Disp Trn passing - - 0.8 0.9 0.1 1 - - 0.3 80.8 defense Tackle Int Fouls Off Won Clr Was Dribbled Blk Shots OG 1.6 1.5 1.5 0.1 2.5 0.5 0.4 -

Jason davidson rating:7.05 (second best defender at club 5th overall) defense Tackle Int Fouls Off Won Clr Was Dribbled Blk Shots OG 1.8 2.7 2.3 - 5.5 0.8 0.2 1 offense Goals Assists Shots Key Passes Dribbles Fouled Offs Disp Trn passing 1 - 0.5 1.3 0.3 1 - 0.5 - 72 Rhys Williams rating (6.73) 7th best at club Tackle Int Fouls Off Won Clr Was Dribbled Blk Shots OG 1.6 0.8 1.5 1.4 9.9 0.3 0.6 - offense Goals Assists Shots Key Passes Dribbles Fouled Offs Disp Trn passing - - 0.3 0.6 0.1 1.1 - 0.3 0.4 85.2 Shane lowry (bad not worth writing here yet unless he improves...)
Mile Jedinak rating (7.46 second best at club) offense goals Assists Shots Key Passes Dribbles Fouled Offs Disp Trn passing - - 0.7 1 0.5 1 - 0.2 0.7 76.3 defense Tackle Int Fouls Off Won Clr Was Dribbled Blk Shots OG 3.8 2.5 1 0.3 5.7 2 0.7 -
So a backline of wilkshire williams jedi and davidson could work quite well but it'd take a very good coach to do the transition...

Even using (code)(/code) it won't display spacing and tabs correctly. At least not for me in Chrome. Several quick attempts and I couldn't get it to display right. People should just check out whoscored.com directly, as it's probably the best statistical analysis website I've seen yet. Pity it only does a few leagues though. Profiles: Mile JedinakRhys WilliamsLuke WilkshireShane LowryDavid CarneyJason DavidsonJedi with by far the most successful tackles with 3.8 per game, Williams with the highest passing percentage with 85%, with special mention to Wilkshire and Davidson with 80% and 72% respectively, considering they probably make more attacking passes. Lowry's only got 63% passing and 1 successful tackle per game.

Citizenship is one thing, but don't the FIFA rules say if you're born in the territory of a Member Federation you're eligible?

Quite possibly he was an Australian citizen because he was born here but has taken up US citizenship so not longer has Australian Citizenship. From previous discussions he has English parents. He could be in theory eligible to play for all of England, Australia and the US.

Zenit are a man down at the moment...let's hope Vienna can capitalise on this!

Even though Zenit are a man down they look more threatening when they do finally get near the goal (they only really hit on the counter). Unfortunate to see that Holland isn't really getting that far forward even with the 1 man advantage

holland was the fifth highest rated player on the pitch according to who scored.com
he did pretty good looking at his stats but not a single player on their team played a through ball
they may need a better cam!

holland made the most passes of his team with 56 at a rate of 79%. He made 3 tackles which is 3rd best on the pitch. He also made one intercept and had 69 touches in the game (second highest in his team)
