I don't see why everyone is writing off Rogic at Celtic. Kruse at an older age spent a full year on the bench in the Bundesliga 2, now he is a first team player at Bayer Leverkusen. Rogic is only 20 and hasn't made the most of his opportunities when presented, but he is still learning his trade and getting experience in the ECL. He shouldn't resort to the knee jerk reaction of ditching Celtic for a crappier club just to get game time, he should work harder on breaking into the first team and when he does it should be based on merit not just because he's got fancy skills.

But that wasn't a World Cup year. We need him performing and sharp this season, and a loan deal may be the best option for that at this time.

How do we know he isn't good enough to play for the Socceroos when he's never made a squad? He's a regular starter in a stronger league than what Ognenovski plays in, and until ~6 weeks ago Lucas didn't even have a club and still got picked ahead of Wilko.

I agree with this.

kruse with back to back 1v1s with the keeper. Both times gets there a millisecond before the keeper. First time unsuccesfully tries to take it around him second time makes a diving pass and the other player missed an open goal

2-1 for Leverkusen with a free kick right at the end. Kruse was put through for a one on one but his touch couldn't get it around the keeper.

kruse with 2 key passes a 1v1 a cross and involved in drawing a foul that was the matchwinner. I would have hoped for more but not bad. Son lowest rated starting player!

Surely being hidden away on a bench in the SPL will have decreased his value though. Can't be the greatest advertisement for potential clubs. He'd have a good chance of winning a starting position with Academica and a possibility with Rio Ave and Nacional in Portugal. Rostov in Russia and Gent in Belgium are also possibilities. An outside chance Vitesse in the Netherlands.

Interesting reply, with the choice of the clubs, why did you pick Gent?

They don't look particularly strong in c.m. I think Rogic would come into contention there. No guarantee, though.

You can make that argument for any player, if they're not picked for Australia how do we know they're not good enough. Wilkinson was an average A league player, reliable and all but by no means a stand out. I don't agree that Korea is a much stronger league, if at all. Lots of Aussies, particularly defenders seem to go there and do well, Ognenovksi, Cornthwaite etc. They probably have an advantage given they are physically bigger and stronger than most of their opponents, so that type of player is probably more appreciated over there than in Australia and Euro leagues.

Aussie Centerbacks have been the new fad in Korean football though it is underestimating the type of work Centerbacks do in Korea. He is playing against quick and technically very good players that don't just rely physiciality. Therefore Wilkinson has had to be good at reading the play and understanding how to play it on the deck. His form warrants a call up considering who is getting picked for the National team in the same position. If it is good enough for the Korean national team it is definently good enough for the Australian. The way some people talk about other leagues and teams you would think the Socceroos are Spain and we are running the Bundesliga.

Surely Wilkinson was a better A-League player and done better over there than Cornthwaite. On those comparisons he should be in with a chance of selection.

we've been over this already, Holger doesn't pick players who are in form and might be in peak career form. He is more interested in there jokes around camp, whether they are 30 years old and playing in the middle east.

You just can't justify national selection based on a playing in a "technical" league like Korea, just because their players are speedy and have fancy skills and stuff. Not even the Korean NT picks defenders from its own league, it prefers its defenders from clubs like Al Shabab and Albirex Niigata. We're delving into serious levels of mediocrity raiding the Korean league for has been A league defenders to represent the national team, Wilkinson just isn't good enough period, he wasn't good while playing in the A league and playing in Korea isn't going to change that, no matter how zippy and speedy and skilly the players he plays against are. If you're going to ditch the captain at least make sure the guy who replaces him is worthy to don the jersey.

That's just paranoia from people who refuse to believe a team from asia could make it to the final 4. Its also a conspiracy started by the italians who were bitter about lowing. There were a few bad decisions that went SKoreas wa but most of the conjecture is based off that youtube video and there's a youtube video that also shows all the lucky decisions Italy got in their favour. The refereeing that game was terrible all round.
