A-League?

Yeah A-league is next step. He's had a good career.

Slowly winding down now.

Can see him coming back to HAL and playing #6 for someone.

I just rely on Wiziwig and hope a good one pops up. For this fixture I'm sure there'll be something fairly decent.

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Looked up Ryan McGowan, in terms of curiosity of how one of our key CB options is performing, heading closer towards the WC squad and it was a shame to see he cost his side a goal in an ACL game earlier this month where they shipped 4 goals against Ponang (Here - April 3rd). So in the latest Aussie Abroad update it's little wonder that I see he's on their bench.

It's just not good enough - I even read that 2 days before their coach said, in a preview to the above game that: “...We have many replacements for Jin Jingdao, such as Luo Senwen or Ryan McGowan,” said Cuca (Alexi Stival). “I am very confident with all my central defenders. I have faith in Du Wei, Ryan McGowan, Dai Lin and Wang Qiang, and I have given all of them chances. If I need someone who is tall and stable in the defensive line, I will choose Du Wei; if I need someone quick then I will pick Ryan McGowan, Dai Lin or Li Yisong.” http://www.the-afc.com/en/acl-news/acl-previews/28027-acl-md4-shandong-luneng-vs-pohang-steelers-preview.html

Well that's not good enough, it seems he's like third or fourth on the pecking order and isn't even regarded as their tallest, most stable choice! Perhaps re-inforced by his slip up and subsequent re-benching since? Just another one of the pack - pace being his leading asset? Perhaps he's not even worthy of the WC squad at this rate? He DID have those slip ups, albeit in his 'non-preferred' position of RB, against world class opponents in Neymar and co of Brazil.

We need these pretenders featuring week in, week out, especially in a league level like that. It may be 'better' than the A-League but not that much, so if one of our players isn't featuring regularly there over a sustained period, then they'd be better off here even. Hopefully that's not the case for McGowan, as he supposedly had a good last season with the club and it's only early days into their season.

Big screw up by McGowan going to CSL. If you can't get regularly game time in that league no way you should be in the Aussie WC squad. Reality is we're going to have very few talented central defenders come Brazil, might as well blood youth.

Just something I missed, Giannou got player of the round on April 4 after his goal + assist on March 30th. Also just too out one of his answers which I thought was interesting with his parents being back in Aus.

Also of not is his season is over with only 2nd-5th playing of for CL/EL spots

Mrcela's goal is first up in these highlights. Scored from at least an inch out.

Also either the bottom teams are really inspired to win at the moment or something dodgy is happening there, the bottom 3 were averaging something like .6 points a game up to 5 games ago and since then have averaged 1.5, 2 and 2.4 points a game.

Of course I listen to myself
But I've been saying this for a couple of years. If an A-league club set about utilising Kennedy as a weapon and brought in service, the quality of Wilkshire's, then they are going to score a ridiculous amount of goals. It would merely be a case of having a solid back line to support an attacking system like that.

Sorry mod-Bowdz but I'm slightly inclined to agree with EG here. If a HAL team were able to sign both Kennedy & Wilkshire, they'd be pretty freaking unstoppable IMO (assuming they put out a respectable team to compliment them, of course).

Not sure we need Wilkshire at RB, we're well covered there. As a #6 though, maybe.

Kennedy OTOH could be very interesting.

On McGowan - its pretty bad that he can't start in the CSL, but he has said he is heading back to Europe at the end of this contract. Its interesting to see that in the Chinese league his coach names him as his "fast" centreback. Normally Aussies over there are the big, strong ones.

It's not the statement itself that is vintage. It's the regularity of short, punchy, baseless statements that litter the threads of FFT, each one said as if it's a cold hard fact (not saying that some aren't, just addressing your arrogant writing style).

e.g.

Eastern Glory wrote:

Bozza's role was minimal. He was a consultant on a final few, nothing more.

He didn't choose.

His major issue is that he doesn't hold onto as many shots as he should and he's short for a GK. I can confirm that a head coach of an unnamed pro-club overseas was shown Mat's video by the club GK coach. 2 minutes into the video he said "he needs to learn to catch" and switched it off.
The GK coach rates Mat but sees some things he needs to work on.

But whoever came up with the 42 thing was a very successful troll to get the club to release a statement

When Holloway left Palace, I suggested that Popovic would take his place and that went all the way to the Palace chairman making a statement saying that Tony wasn't in contention
I searched for ages to find a comment suggesting Poppa, before mine, but I eventually resigned to the fact that I started the rumour ;)

SST have done a stellar job of making football fans very aware of potential scenarios.

Yet another quality player making a bad career choice this seems to be happening a lot for our national team. His heart was in the right place trying to give his club some much needed cash but he could have got them some solid $ and stayed in scotland or even mainland Europe.

Really like this kid big strong decent passing ability, good tackling ability, Scored against a few top of the table sides. With williams, herd out then Sano and good injured so close to the cup, Mcgowan in bad form deserves a spot on the plane to Brazil. Croatian league is much stronger than it has been is the past as well.
