He looked pretty good in that match, I mean he's playing a higher level then most of the socceroos team. In saying that selecting him is kind of a backwards step for Ange, I think I would be more inclined to see a younger guy given sometime to impress, if come January we are struggling for a RB then maybe he can get a look in.

I've watched enough Eredivisie over the years to say that, yes, sometimes the defending can be ordinary, but it is still far superior to the A-League, which has only really matured since the introduction of the Wanderers and their emphasis on organisation.

You talk like this forum is homogenous.

I can only speak for myself but I've barely ever uttered a word about Oar, nor have I ever spoken about the Eredivisie before.

My post in this thread is just relaying the opinions of people who watch the league a lot more than I do who believe it's a very poor league. The only other opinions I've seen regarding the Eredivise have been from this forum and I am skeptical how much people on this forum have actually watched the league.

For the guys who watch a lot of Eredivisie - how was last nights game in comparison to normal?

hard to judge because it seems like some out of the ordinary tacts were used

feyenoord looked like they were playing possession game but with players that arent gelling yet
utrecht were playing a pretty dour style but they dont normally

I would say eredivisie is a big step up from the a league I recommend watching it its one of the most entertaining leagues kn europe and the midtable teams can have some pretty out of the box strategies

I don't doubt it's a step up from the A-League. We're talking about people who primarily watch the EPL though so that's the relative basis for their opinion. One must also factor in the contradictory nature of how the English talk about football. On one hand, they are often derogatory about their national team, and I find many of them to be very derogatory and critical of their own teams. Yet, they are even more derisive of other football leagues... Must be all that dreary weather.

Babalj just scored for AZ reserves.

Sittard v Telstar: Quinn, Dougall, Marveggio all on the bench.

Ascroft and Cooper nowhere to be seen.

I'm not sure I'd take him at DM but honestly I thought he looked great at RB and didn't really see the lack of pace/fitness that others mentioned. His short passing like you said is amazing, he looks a class above in that regard. Also in the game the other night, particularly in the first half, he delivered so many great crosses.

I'd rather Luke at RB than McGowan tbh. I would prefer a fit Franjic though.

Eli Babalj may soon get his opportunity with AZ Alkmaar. Coach Marco van Basten was scathing in assessing his side’s 3-0 defeat to Willem II Tilburg on Saturday. Earlier in the week, van Basten told Dutch media he was closely monitoring the Australian’s progress at training. “We’ll judge him on the training and what we see in the matches of his promise,” van Basten said.

That's great, to have comment like that and then come out a get a hat trick , surely the manager has enough to back up the comments . Elis biggest issue has been staying fit , let's hope he puts a decent run of matches together

Just read the West Brom forum post match review and nearly all comments on Davidson were positive. The only negative was a guy who said that he looked very, very good but seemed to be very left footed. All other reports were that we was solid and that they didn't look much weaker with him on.
The general vibe though was that he wouldn't be in the match day squad in a full strength side.

Having a look at the Reading forum, they seem convinced that Feds will be dropped for McCarthy unless McCarthy leaves before the window closes, which is possible as he's already in talks. They also don't seem to rate Edwards very much, a few blokes have him on the bench in ideal line ups for this week, but only due to injuries.
