International football is also a step up from the Eredivisie and Bundesliga 2.

Ridiculous statement. Most national teams are not much above HAL standard, and many are lower. Obviously the top of international football is a high standard, but the top of club football will always be higher.

This myth of the 'international standard' is a load of shit that 2 seconds of thought puts to shame.
Nothing personal about the rant, just hoping to open a few eyes to reality.

Maybe when we play Asian teams but not when we play Belgium, Chile, Netherlands, Spain. No need to get aggressive.

Sorry man, was trying to not come across as aggressive. There is no international standard... That's my point. International football is the broadest spectrum in football quality, so to assume that there is a standard, is nothing short of the poorest football analysis that there is, and as an Asian nation, we must recognise that. We have plenty of players who are able to get us to the last stage of WC qualifying... We have players who can get us to the WC, and we have players who can almost compete at he WC... But there is no standard in international football.... That's a ridiculous myth made up by people who've never considered anything more than the 32 nations in the World Cup finals.

if davidson pushes up on the wing he is comfortable. then you have oar and bresc in the middle feeding.

the second dm milligan/jedi can swing left to cover for davidson.

in essence you get

rb---------------cb------------cb
--------------------------jedi--------->>------millsy
---------------bresc--------------oar--<<<
leckie-----------------cahill--------------davidson/smith

using the fullback as an alternative to the dm pushing forward and essentially giving you 2 creative mids in the front 1/3 and potentially pulling their FB out of position if he tracks in on oar.

Ah nice, yeah considered that too. That works well and I was wondering inala - do we 'kind of' do this anyway? :-k Under Ange our FBs push up high and overlap, so I presume Oar naturally stays a bit deeper anyway? :-k But clearly, with the current approach, he is just sitting wide - but as we and the post-Saudi discussion suggest, if Oar can be a bit more mobile/flexible, especially when we're with the ball, then he may be more effective. Your example seems to both show a way how and also the way we'll/Ange will probably approach this? IIRC We've often seen second screeners drop wide to cover overlapping backs in the past too.

I really hope Ange has figured this out and Oar and our NT benefit from this tactical tweak - it may finally solve one of our long running tactical problems with Oar. Then Ange and co just need to figure how to get the best out of Jedi (Getting him to sit deeper or something like his Palace role - that's forum consensus?)?

The guy moved over to Europe when he was still a kid, this often happens with Aussies that go overseas when they are teens. A lot of the english based boys have weird hybrid accents. I would say he sounded continental, its hard to narrow it down to a particular country though, italian if anything maybe. Good to see he is doing something at least, also good that Juve still own him. This could mean two things, they either see promise in him, or they will continually loan him out until end of contract hoping they can get a good transfer fee and if not release him upon contract end. The other interesting taking from this is that Vidmar had nothing to do with the transfer, i had just thought from the go that would have been what had happened. Then again maybe they didn't cross paths too much back in the City days.

It's not his own accent, he's just unconsciously copied the accents of those around him to fit in, just like what happened to Steve McClaren and Joey Barton. It's called speech accommodation, and is something that native speaking English teachers are taught to avoid.

I remember Ange putting on a weird accent in an interview before the World Cup.

It's annoying when people do it.

Interesting that Tim Cahill has a typical Australian accent with barely any traces of any other accents.
