Cap him before Bosnia get him.

Im against the "cap em before someone else does" movement. If he is ever good enough to play for Australia he should earn it.
If he wants to play for Bosnia, do it.

Against that. We should secure every possible player for the future. Fuck "honour of wearin' da green n gold".

So any kid who is eligible to get a cap for another country should get a call up?

He makes the Groningen squad so we should select him for the Socceroos?

Not saying he should make the Socceroos squad but we should keep an eye on him but we can't afford to dilute our national team pool when he or any other players can be eligible for other national teams.

He did state that if Bosnia came calling he wouldn't hesitate to join them, his progress in the 12 months is worth keeping an eye on anyway.

The US national team are very good at doing this, they identify any talent that is playing all over the world they don't miss a trick when it comes to identifying new emerging talent.

I went through the best 50 US players the other day to check out a claim that the MLS is consistently producing epl starters (which turned out to be not true. Not even close it does worse than the a league)

I was absolutely amazed at how many players they nationalize that go through another countries development system. Doesn't seem a very good long term strategy but USA have shown what a good short term boost you can get with this strategy

Agree it's not ideal on their part but they know if they want to create a stronger national team they need to look at other avenues to strengthen their talent pool, not saying we should do the same we probably don't have going around all over the world but we shouldn't ignore aussie talent overseas even its get some experience at under 20 level.

Irrelevant if its under 17s because they too young but when it comes to under 20s onwards then yes we shouldn't ignore..

Just a slight, correction. He is moving from playing A1 to Jong Groningen so not the first team. The official release states he is playing reserves this season

Babalj has started pre-season training with the youth side. AZ obviously want to offload him but it seems no-one wants him for his wages. Don't know what he is on but he should have a European visa so wouldn't have to have the minimum wage restriction of non EU players which is either the average Dutch wage in the league of a certain % above that.

Another half for Halloran and 2 goals.

Amini started, sounded like he had a good one and got an assist. Duncan came on for the 2nd half.

Do you mean passport or visa? I gathered, from the context, you meant passport not visa. Babalj should have a Serbian passport. But Serbia is not in the EU (which on one occasion, last year, was most fortunate for me).

So wouldn't that mean Babalj still needs to be paid the minimum wage restriction of non-EU players?

Clean sheet for Duncan's half, too.

If he can keep up this game time then he's got a good shout as the Olyroo #1 for sure.

Yeah my bad and I forgot Serbia wasn't in the EU. this may make Babalj a little expensive for other EU clubs (where he wants to play) that would be prepared to take a chance on him. From what I can find it is 150% of Dutch players average wages generally being around 300,000 euros but some say it is on a club by club basis so Babalj at AZ would have a higher minimum wage than say Sarota at Utrecht.

Pretty sure you were right as Serbia might not be part of the EU, but theyre definitely part of UEFA. So politically they arent part of the EU, but for in terms of football governance they are.

Babalj has had very little football, from what I can make out. He needs to be playing regularly now. If FC Tokyo haven't yet filled that striker spot, a call to them might be an idea. Or back to the a-league.

I refuse to start a thread but reports here in Germany have Langerak on the cusp of signing for Stuttgart. Rumours logical come and go but the language in the reports is very strong. Both Stuttgart keepers have left and they've only signed Tyton. Tyton is a former Poland international and has more experience so I don't really know if it's the best move.

surely he'd have a better chance as first choice there with only 1 other as competition not 2 first team keepers
