Update on Smith. He seems to have trained with Rosenborg last week, leaving Thursday and he and the club have agreed for him to go back after the Olyroos games. Would like to see him on loan for at least part of the Norwegian off-season. Looking at the A-league I think he would be a great gueast player for Wellington. They need depth and pace in defence and their travelling massively cuts back after round 17 with more games in Wellington in the last 10 rounds than the first 17. Even if he can't play a whole season he would help with their squad and keeping them fresh until that easier run in. It won't happen but would have been good to see. http://www.aftenposten.no/100Sport/fotball/eliteserien/RBK-forlenger-oppholdet-til-tidligere-Liverpool-spiller-614788_1.snd

After debuting on the weekend Jesse Curren also played a full 90 for Dundee's development squad getting a 3-1 win over Partick Thistle. He was involved with one goal having a shot saved but the rebound was put away. http://www.dundeefc.co.uk/news/healey-double-stings-jags

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Once he starts playing regularly, there is no reason why he shouldn't get a call up. Yesterday, Ange had to play Luongo in right wing. Kruse looks to be permacrock, so why not?
For the first time, but certainly not the last, I began to believe that Arsenals moods and fortunes somehow reflected my own. - Hornby

Juric sending Roda Bankrupt, he better keep on scoring Quote:Hendriks: "Still waiting for bill pay Juric" 1 BY LUC VAN DIJK ON OCTOBER 7, 2015 · NEWS Nol Hendriks currently paying not the salary of Tomi Juric. This has the Heerlen textile magnate declared opposite the Limburgs Dagblad. Therefore Roda JC must himself provisionally pay the salaries.
Collard indicates that there is currently no signatures are below the deal with Hendriks. That means the club has to dig deep into their pockets. The salary of the Australian monthly amount of approximately 33,000 euros. The news comes coincidentally enough in the same week in which it was announced that Roda currently can not pay the rent of the Parkstad Limburg Stadium. Who rent € 50 000, - revealed last month asking too much for the club. Yet denies CEO Wim Collard which Roda can not pay the rent because of the paycheck of the striker. "Tomi is entitled to his salary, but there is no causal relationship," explains the director told newspaper. "We have to make choices in our position and 50,000 euros is a lot of money."
According sugar daddy Hendriks The situation is slightly different; he indicated still do not consider that it has received from the club. "I am willing to pay the salary of Juric, but there must be something happen. The contract runs from August 16, but I still have not received the invoice from Roda. "The absence of those tens of thousands of euros could explain why Roda last week" not sufficiently liquid "turned out to pay the rent, but that is speculation. http://www.rodajclive.nl/?p=5858

Aother 90 minutes for Elder, 2-1 win away to Swindon. 76 minutes for Herd, 3-1 loss to Gillingham. 90 minutes for Inman, 2-1 win. Daniel Nizic was also on the bench. http://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/news/article/nizic-joins-crewe-on-youth-loan-2721920.aspx

Except if your league is shit and doesn't respect internationals. That presupposes that the all the national youth team managers are selecting the best Australian youth. Based on past events, I don't think this can be taken for granted. Also you get to the point where you've only got so many spots available in a national youth team, the team is full of decent players and some players with bundles of potential miss out. Not suggesting Australia is there yet. But it's certainly possible really talented youth players will be omitted from national youth squads.

International breaks suck but I figure the thread could use a bump in preparation for an exiting weekend of players on the bench.

jas88 wrote:is there a thread for the U17 world cup? excited to see how Joice goes. Me too. Lord knows we need strikers. If one of these lads (even a midfielder with the skill, speed and game sense) is good enough, they might end up up front for the Socceroos in Russia 2018 (assuming we qualify). The other options don't look too flash (jury's out on Bulut and Juric but not filled with confidence and they should be doing more by now). It pisses me off that we've drawn Germany, Argentina and Mexico. I know to be the best you've got to beat the best. But it would help if we had a bit of breathing space where these lads can play freely in the context of a youth world cup in at least one or two games. We always seem to get shocking groups. Ideally the lads really showcase their skills. Armenakas struts his stuff. And Joice, Arzani and some other end up in the Primavera or in Holland or somewhere very soon.

Valencia's original #1 Diego Alves has a long-term injury so is out of contention completely. They're down to their 3rd choice keeper Jaume Domenech who has been quite good but inconsistent. It remains to be seen whether Maty will step straight back in once back from injury.

Yeah... watched the first game Domenech played, he was quite good in that, am hopeful he'll return to number 1 when he's back.

How long is Mat's contract with Valencia?
I was under the impression it's quite a long one. If that's the case, that's a good and a bad thing.
