from "5 Players That Would Further Mark Hughes' Revolution at Stoke City" 5. Mile JedinakFrom statistically the fifth best player in Europe in 2014 to being continually left out of Alan Pardew's starting eleven despite being club captain, Jedinak's career has taken somewhat of a nosedive. During his rich vein of form in the first half of the 2014/2015 season, Jedinak boasted four goals and one assist which are a bonus for a defensive midfielder. Additionally, Jedinak averaged 4.4 tackles per game (third best in EPL) and 3.9 interceptions (first in EPL) per game. His plaudits ran far and wide with Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp who described him as a “leader of men” and Ian Holloway depicted him as "utterly immense mentally". However, Jedinak's career has hit a stumbling block following Australia's Asian Cup success in early 2015. Returning from international duty, he suffered from an ankle injury picked up in a game against Kuwait. It also does not help, as a player, to have the likes of Yohan Cabaye and James McArthur ahead of you in the peaking order. Although out of favour at Crystal Palace, the strengths of Jedinak is sorely needed at Stoke. Despite a £3m transfer failing at the 11th-hour over pay demands in the summer transfer window, it is likely Stoke will make a move for him again. A player of this calibre will add muscle and leadership in the centre of the park. Jedinak is a possible answer for many fans who are worried about Stoke's midfield solidity and composure following Steven Nzonzi's summer exit to Sevila. http://www.90min.com/posts/2789082-5-players-that-would-further-mark-hughes-revolution-at-stoke-city/5-mile-jedinak

Quote: One bonus for Klopp has been the impact of young left-back Brad Smith since he ended his contract stand-off with the club last month and was restored to the first-team squad.
The 21-year-old Australia international impressed on his full debut against Sion.
“I read in the paper that Brad had signed a contract and I said ‘who’s this??!!’,” joked Klopp, who had held discussions with Smith at Melwood prior to the deal getting signed.
“You know it was a difficult story with him and when I first came he wasn’t here.
“I saw a few videos and in training and he’s a good boy – very fast.
“He put in a perfect cross against Sion, which on that ground wasn’t easy. He can get better in everything but he’s a good boy and I like to work with him.”

Brad Smith should hopefully get some gametime for Liverpool tonight.
I'm going to be optimistic in that i think he could get a start tonight.

Not all players have to come good by 18. Tim Cahill was good but iirc he really developed around23/24/25(?). This kids progress is very heartening. Any idea when the game will be played?

So could it be possible that we see Valencia, AV and Liverpool geature Aussies on the team sheets? Not sure about Ibini but Club Brugge play tonight. Osijek play tonight. PEC Zwolle also play. As to does Celtic.

I've never seen Jordan Lyden play, so I know precious little about him, but this bodes well. A lot of 'ifs' involved. But if he can end up playing regular football for Villa over the next couple of seasons and Villa remain in the Premier League, well that's a dream situation for the NT.
Desperately need Milligan to move to Europe or to be left out of the NT. The trouble is there's no better alternative in that position. Which means we need a younger player to step up. So it's really a matter of Lyden, Degenek, Luongo doing the business.

As to does Celtic. doesn't look like smith will be starting. all the news is that marrone (is it marrone on lb?) etc were rested through the week for tonights game. but the pressure is on, smith has made an excellent account for himself.

this season started with one of the worst levels of representation of australians in the epl. it could finish differently though. jedinak transfer, smith making ground, lyden at villa, federici at bournemouth. that's a bit better if it comes out. who else is there? curtis good might recover before season end. Drunken_Fish wrote:Aaron Mooy deserves to in this thread. How long until he is? Mightn't go down well but not sold on Mooy. Glad he's in the NT set-up and can see how he can be useful against weak opposition. But I've seen too many occasions when his first touch has let him down and when he is just too slow. My theory is he has flashes of brilliance against poor opposition who give him too much time and don't punish his mistakes. Even still he will still make a fair few mistakes, as demonstrated in recent WCQs. Those mistakes will just go unpunished. Against top-notch opposition, those mistakes will be punished, it's less likely he'll be able to demonstrate his flashes of brilliance against competent defences who are fast. As such, he'll be a liability. Just my theory, right or wrong. In saying that, I haven't even seen Lyden play. For all I know he may be in the same mould. But I do know, from watching Mooy, there are technical issues and he coughs up the ball too easily. We have to be careful because the the standard of the A-League and WC qualification through Asia can make players look far better than they actually are.

Holland starting v Kaiserslautern Rogic starting
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

As long as he's performing above his peers, is that an issue ?

Have you seen him play this season, almost every game has made an impact with a goal or assist. As the old saying goes you can only play what's in front of you. But everyone agrees he has outgrown this league and he needs to test himself at a much higher level with better players with and against ideally in Europe. So lets judge then.

Brilliante not playing because Festa is a fuck wit who doesn't know what his doing Pssst psst, oi you come over here... between you and I, Brillante isnt playing because he actually isnt very good. It's o.k, you can keep the posters up Just for an devil's advocate perspective, the lad last season was playing preseason first team football for Fiorentina last season and largely impressed but he was thrown under a bus against Roma in Serie A and got subbed and killed the lads confidence after that. But the lad showed he has talent. Just an perspective but there more too it than just talent but other factors like the language are crucial especially in places like Italy/Spain.
