Domenech never played 1 minute of La Liga or cup football before this year, spent most of his time in Spain 3rd league ..Valencia fail to get past Gent from Belgium in Champion league with Domenech in goals , and if Valencia going to become a mid table La Liga team, then Ryan is better off going back to Club brugge
With ya there adrtho. Valencia may end up getting slammed back to bottom of the table. Nuno's treatment of Ryan was better. If your manager doesn't back the player who the fuck else will ? Even if Maty is fighting fit and ready to play the game of his life can you see Neville taking a shine to him ? This is a big trucking problem. Certainly Neville is not backing Maty one fucking bit. Which permeates through the entire team/league/fucking world Massively get the fuck out of there Maty. I'm losing respect for English football, first they screw their players, then they screw their managers, now they're screwing just about anybody/league. They obviously over rate themselves when it comes to football. Hope Neville crashes harder than Moyes I take it you have seen a lot of Domenechs keeping over the last few years ? Take it you have streamed a fair few Spanish 3rd tier games of his as well as perhaps seeing him training day in, day out ? Well I havent, so id be inclined to not comment in so much detail about the fella suffice to say the games I have seen him in this year he was fine. In respect to Matty Ryan, I thought he was very good (not excellent) in the A League and obviously outstanding for Brugges. Now if you personally believe he is brilliant and his 'past' form for Brugges somehow warrants a walk up start then again thats your opinion. Me, I'll leave the decision making to a man of enormous experience and who has these guys train before him and his coaching staff, in person (not the net) day in, day out. and I dont even like the Nevilles... big jump up from Spain 3rds to what was a top 8 team in Europe ... you can be the greatest trainer in the world, it doesn't mean shit if you consistently underperform game day what enormous experience does Neville have in managing a team? he never manage a team before.. he may never have managed a football team before and neither have you even left that couch of yours so of the two opinions Im going to have to say Gary Neville just shades you. No hard feelings yeah ? no..but seeing as you have the same opinion each time (the coach is right, and he knows best) there really no more you can ad on the subject Well I wouldnt say I said he knows best I just needed to emphasize he knows more than you. Comprendes ? :d you would think that the case, but that not how it work out..and to not question a 25 year old Spain 3rd league player who now being selected ahead of 2 time Belgian Pro league Goal Keeper of the year (23 year old Ryan) , and with Valencia mid table in Spain, and being knock out of a easy group in Champions League (Zenit, Gent, Lyon) all when Domenechs was in Goals I guess we stop talking about football then   Edited by adrtho: 2/1/2016 01:40:25 AM Most reports I have read have said that Domenech would be Valencia's player of the season so far ... So it must have been solely his fault that they have lost the games that they have? it's somebody fault in defense, they letting in Goals and 1st Goals .... if Domenech is Valencia's player of the season so far , then Valencia is no longer a top 10 Euro team, and Ryan should leave big difference being back up keeper for atop 10 euro team (like Langerak was at Dortmund), because if you win 1st keeper spot at top 10 Euro team ,then there not many other club spot in the world that can be higher ...much difference being back up at a mid table EPL of La lig team

Well Nuno did up and leave in a hurry. Didn't get some key transfers he wanted. So up and fucked off It will be a shambles even further now with this circus act with the Neville's

I think Luongo is a better player and proven as much at a higher level Seriously? They're very different players. Luongo isn't anywhere near as creative as people say he is. Rogic is a far more unique player. Rogic offers so much more for Australia IMO. Edited by eastern glory: 1/1/2016 08:25:21 PM That comment is bs. Short memories. How so? Luongo is not a 10, he's an 8. We have plenty of 8s, but we lack effective 10s. So I'm 100% right. Edited by eastern glory: 1/1/2016 08:56:05 PM Lolk They're very different type of players and should probably be used in different positions. The discussion is predicated on false understanding. But if they are to be compared as CAMs, then Rogic is better. Better touch, better vision, better 1 vs 1 ability, better technique in general. Rogic is Australia's most gifted player since Harry Kewell. He's the only one not in his teens capable of beating opponents at speed with a number of 1 vs 1 manoeuvres. That shows how diabolically bad Australia has been at producing that type of player. That, in itself, makes Rogic better. Never mind that he has better vision and, arguably, at least as good a shot on him. We don't have any player like Rogic. He's a very rare commodity for Australia. That simple.

This is tripe. Mostly. Sure there some Brits who don't like Australians, I've encountered such people. There are probably, per capita, at least as many Australians who don't like Brits. But there's not some conspiracy against Australians that British (or English) people have. It's nonsense. Maybe, as I suspected all along, Mat(t) Ryan just isn't that flash. It's unfortunate, but that may just be the way it is. He has excellent distribution and foot skills. But that's a secondary attribute for keepers. It's more important that they're excellent shot-stoppers. If I was a manager and I had to choose between an excellent shot-stopper with average distribution or an excellent distributor with average shot-stopping ability, I'd go with the better shot-stopper. He kept clean sheets in a league where his team won at a canter. That's not all that meaningful. When push comes to shove, he's not great at keeping out goals. He has his moments. True. I've seen Mat(t) Ryan make some excellent saves. The other thing is he's short. He's less than 6 feet tall. For a goalkeeper to be that short, they need to compensate for that by having excellent reflexes, hand-eye co-ordination, agility and they need to have a great leap on them. Fabian Barthez was short-ish. He made up for that by possessing those traits. Mat(t) Ryan does not tend to demonstrate such abilities. To make up for his lack of height, he ought to excel in those areas, not be deficient.

Looks like Rhys Williams is off to Charlton on loan. A full UK weekend coming up with the FA Cup the weekend after followed by midweek games mid January. It's going to be a busy 12 days

Aussies seem to get a disproportionate amount of bench time. That needs to be discussed
I don't know if there is subconscious hate or any conspiracy

Maybe our boys get a contract_because_they are aussies and have played at international level, is it possible they are playing at clubs 1 level_above_ their skill?

Having said that, seeing Luongo on Championship pine is just ridiculous.

I rate Rogic more important, but Luongo a more rounded player. You just can't ignore rogics match breaking ability. I wouldn't be surprised if he was in the top 10. Or in the top 100-200 even. Anyone know how long before he is able to do a full 90.

Ryan is better than a #3. Anywhere. This is career killing

We need a lot of players to move in January

Comprendes ? :d you would think that the case, but that not how it work out..and to not question a 25 year old Spain 3rd league player who now being selected ahead of 2 time Belgian Pro league Goal Keeper of the year (23 year old Ryan) , and with Valencia mid table in Spain, and being knock out of a easy group in Champions League (Zenit, Gent, Lyon) all when Domenechs was in Goals I guess we stop talking about football then   Edited by adrtho: 2/1/2016 01:40:25 AM oh dear... running out of material so still desperately holding on to the Domenech being of the Spanish 3rd tier and Ryan being excellent for brugges and totally forgetting the present situation whereby a hugely experienced (that is far greater than me and perhaps even a smidge more than you) gaffer just doesnt rate him as highly as you. That doesnt mean you need to take the posters down. your argument is thin. just because someone is more experienced doesnt mean they make better decisions. doesnt mean they make the best situational assessments. doesnt mean that they are free from the limitations of their own prejudices. its smug and naive.

I feel this conversation has been milked for all it's worth but the curious thing is, he's our superstar keeper. He's now sitting on the bench like some incapable hack whose been found out or some shit. Complete lack of respect shown really to a sensational prospect. Just snuffed out like a candle by some arrogant pom who thinks he's big shit because he played for Man United. Hope he burns.Edited by highkick05: 2/1/2016 12:49:27 PM

If Ryan was European or South American he'd of been shown respect by the new manager for his achievements to date, heavy price tag Valencia paid and longer term prospect, and handed the number 1 until further notice.

Maty Ryan is quality there is a reason he was named best goalkeeper in Belgium for 2 year runnings, how many of our current players have achieved this sort of recognition in any country?
No doubt he proved he has the quality to play in a top league, someone needs to give him a fair chance.

If only if he didn't get injured at the start of the season....very unlucky.

Mat Ryan was always going to be #2 once all their options were healthy. He chose a poor team to move to imo.

Not exactly. It comes down to how much the owners paid for him as to whether he plays a lot or a little bit. This has been proven time and again. Players with big price-tags get played more than players with smaller ones. At the end of the day, the owners are not going to want a $10mil player wasting away as a 3rd string keeper.

Mat Ryan was always going to be #2 once all their options were healthy. He chose a poor team to move to imo. The price Valencia paid suggest they expect him to challenge for the number 1 once Alves returned. They wouldn't of spent that much lightly.

Ryan ticks those boxes but is still allowed to bench ride every week. Wouldn't happen with a euro or South American.

You think the owners are going to let a player they paid $10mil for ride the bench every game, whilst Valencia continue to drop points?

If Ryan was European or South American he'd of been shown respect by the new manager for his achievements to date, heavy price tag Valencia paid and longer term prospect, and handed the number 1 until further notice. Exactly. Ryan ticks those boxes but is still allowed to bench ride every week. Wouldn't happen with a euro or South American. You think the owners are going to let a player they paid $10mil for ride the bench every game, whilst Valencia continue to drop points? He wasn't instilled as number 1 returning from injury, and hasn't been since. If there was to be pressure from the owners it wouldve been as soon as the Nevilles took over to play a high cost player. He's benched for either/both of these reasons; He's short for a GK according a Pom manager. He's Australian. There's no other possible reason to not play a fit Ryan, who's developing a great reputation at a high level ahead of someone with very little experience?? I could understand if he was dropped from poor performances, but that's not the case here. I think people need to look at this with a bit of context. Ryan is the better keeper than domenech, that's obvious by just watching a couple of games. Neville just took on the club though and its his first major coaching role, he isn't going to come in and ring the changes straight away, it will take some time. Ryan will get his place back you would like to hope but it probably won't be immediate. His biggest benefit is his ability with his feet on top of being a good keeper, so the wait is to see if Neville wants to use that. Either way Ryan will find out where he stands and can make a decision based on that. He made good decisions in the past and was just unlucky with injury this time.

Don't think Neville will be around long.... Moyes is a little different he had at least coached before, this experiment will be over pretty quickly as they are still getting pumped.

I agree, it's crazy to think they went with Neville

Probs likes us Aussies and was behind Maty's signing.

Ryan was signed under the previous manager. If they don't want to waste big money on him then they'll sell him.
