Though Smith did very well last night. Plenty of attacking intent, good movement, passing and some good crosses. Pretty much everything Liverpool did in the last 30 was down that left side. Didn't look out of place at all, though Liverpool as a whole were pretty toothless.

I'm seriously impressed by him so far. for the first 10-15 minutes of his time pretty much everything went through him.he must of had the most touches of anyone on the pitch while he was there. it wasnt enough. ham were dominant and had some great defenders shutting everything down. btw where is winston reid these day.. we would be creaming ourselves if we had a defender like him. maybe we should reopen the offer for NZ to join the federation. -- WR has a hamstring rupture. he's going to have to fight his way back into the team if the Hams keep playing like that. Nice that if he was starting , Iceland National Keeper is 1st choice at NEC But he's been training with an A-League team over the Christmas break, that makes him one of the 10 best keepers in the world right? ;)

Most posters consider him to be a real presence in midfield with a good eye for key passes. One poster who was the most in depth in terms of analysis said that Irvine's last at h was his best of the season after finally showing some quality on the ball.
Would be good to see him back in the Socceroos fold soon, just see where he stacks up against the likes of Luongo, McKay ect... Agreed. There's quite a few on the radar and they could do with some socceroos minutes. Most players need about 10-20 games for the socceroos before they start hitting their straps. We play games against Tajikistan and against Jordan at home in March. Then friendlies against Greece in June. Need a few youngsters to be blooded into the side ahead of the crucial world cup qualifiers starting in September and then the Confed's cup the following June. Yep, thats right, the confed's cup is next year! Also because the world cup qualifiers last round has been expanded to 6 teams in each group, then there are ten games for every team with two matches for each team for every international week meaning there will be no friendlies during this time to trial new players. Makes the argument for having an Australia 'A' team to play friendlies with in order to blood new players and whatnot. Is it actually possible for a nation to play two games on the same date using different teams? I.e Regular Australian line up playing a WCQ/ACQ in say Sydney, and another Australian team playing a friendly (B-team) in say Canberra against some nation who doesn't have a game - let's just say South Africa?

I.e Regular Australian line up playing a WCQ/ACQ in say Sydney, and another Australian team playing a friendly (B-team) in say Canberra against some nation who doesn't have a game - let's just say South Africa? I doubt FIFA would sanction it meaning that clubs would not need to release their players for this "B" side. Thats why you can only select 23 players for each international call up time. It is possible to have non-starting players in your squad of 23 play a friendly against a nation probably not on the same day but the day before the big game.

Valencia face Real Madrid in the early hours of tomorrow morning. Unlikely Maty will be starting however, as always, I will be setting my alarm and waking up just in case... #loser

Talk about knee-jerk reactions. half a season with 2 starts is no knee jerk. signing in a clear replacement cabayayehah. no knee jerk there. its a combination of injuries and shop fronting - to be frank

Couple of early missed tackles by Jedinak. Azpiliqueta copped it in the head there.

So far almost every little thing going against Palace has involved Jedinak.
