Though Smith did very well last night. Plenty of attacking intent, good movement, passing and some good crosses. Pretty much everything Liverpool did in the last 30 was down that left side. Didn't look out of place at all, though Liverpool as a whole were pretty toothless.

Also because the world cup qualifiers last round has been expanded to 6 teams in each group, then there are ten games for every team with two matches for each team for every international week meaning there will be no friendlies during this time to trial new players. Makes the argument for having an Australia 'A' team to play friendlies with in order to blood new players and whatnot. Is it actually possible for a nation to play two games on the same date using different teams? I.e Regular Australian line up playing a WCQ/ACQ in say Sydney, and another Australian team playing a friendly (B-team) in say Canberra against some nation who doesn't have a game - let's just say South Africa?

I doubt FIFA would sanction it meaning that clubs would not need to release their players for this "B" side. Thats why you can only select 23 players for each international call up time. It is possible to have non-starting players in your squad of 23 play a friendly against a nation probably not on the same day but the day before the big game.
