Are you talking about Bradley Shaun Smith? We almost signed him but he changed his mind and wrote a new contract with Liverpool. A choice that served him well, as he is doing quite well there now from what i understand. In any case you will have two really good players to choose from on your national team.
Even though we'd like to believe so about ourselves, Molde have been giving us a hard fight for the last 6 years, and there are also two other teams really going at it, so we're not as invincible as Celtic in our league, even though we were. Looking at last year and the current season though we are pretty much back on track and everyone in the media has pretty much handed us the gold already. It'll take some doing to deny us the league win now.

grazorblade wrote:thanks so much for the updates it sounds like great news all round! My understanding is your club is about as strong as celtic in the spl. Is this correct? If he is playing very well for a celtic level club at such a young age that is very exciting we have another promising leftback who is getting some games for liverpool and played for english youth teams. It will be interesting to see the competition between these two players. My money personally is on gersbach to do better but if one of them becomes a good finisher who knows maybe both can play for the roos I'd say we're about as good as Celtic, if not better at the moment (Though I'm obviously biased). Even Molde crushed them in both of the legs in the group stage last year, in what was one of their worst season in a long time. We're a step up from Molde, so I think it's fair to say we would beat Celtic at their current level. I'm actually really hoping we'll meet them in the Champions League qualifiers, so we can settle that debate once and for all. :p

Aussies in European comps next year: Champions League: Group stage: Schwarzer (Leicester), Kruse (Leverkusen), Ibini (Brugge)
3rd qualifying round: Antonis (PAOK)
2nd qualifying round: Rogic (Celtic), Golec (Sheriff), Gersbach (Rosenborg)
Europa League: 2nd qualifying round: Kalik (Hajduk Split)
1st qualifying round: Rukavytsya (Beitar Jerusalem), Mrcela (Lokomotiva)
Obviously a few players there pretty unlikely to be at their clubs by next season. May have missed a couple.

Brad Jones has left NEC, even though they wanted him to stay. Apparently has offers. Glory?

Don't really know why he would go to Perth as apparently NEC was offering him top dollar to stay (and Im assuming that Perth wouldn't be able to match that unless they give him a marquee status). If I remember other clubs like AZ and FC Utrecht were interested in him so he could go there.

Apparently Liverpool are after Amavi from Villa for the left back spot. Smith needs to be cautious.

Macha wrote:Hey guys, just wanted to give an update on how Gersbach is doing in Rosenborg so far. You can follow our forum, and in particular the discussions regarding Gersbach here: http://www.rbkweb.no/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7221&start=350To cut it short; we're thrilled with him. He's got 11 apps in total for us and so far 6 out of 13 in the league and of those 6 games he's been in the starting line-up 4 times. More than we anticipated because we had two left backs from before. However, our very own Grand Ole' man, Mikael Dorsin have been troubled with injuries and also made the decision to retire this week. Gersbach's other contestant for the left back is Jørgen Skjelvik. He's not far from beeing the fastest footballer worldwide, however, what he makes up in speed he lacks in technique and control of the ball. Because of injuries on other players Jørgen have had to step in elsewhere, leaving the back for Gersbach. And he's taken it with brilliance. In each game he playes he makes great contrubutions in the offensive play, with his speed, his abilities 1 vs. 1 and last but no least his passes into the box from along the sideline. He still has much to learn in the defensive play, but his speed makes up for poor positioning, and with his age he got loads of time to improve. His last game against our biggest rival Molde proved he is ready to be a regular in the starting line-up. The media have been slow to take notice, atleast to my opinion but after an excuisite assist finalized our 3-1 win in the biggest game of the year they've been more interested. Now we are only concerned about how long we'll manage to hold on to him. There are scouts at pretty much each game and with his play it's only a matter of time. In 2014 we sold Costa Rican international Cristian Gamboa for 20 million NOK (3,3 million AUD) to PL-side West Bromwich, and we believe once Gersh goes it'll be for atleast that amount. Gershbach is way better at much younger age. And that is just without participation in any e-cup. We're in for the Champions League qualifiers this season. If we get through there the price will probably skyrocket. In any case we'll at the very least play Europa League if there's no surprises. Hope that was worth a read. You are very much welcome back in our own forum. -Macha Edited by Macha: 31.5.2016 07:45:00 Edited by Macha: 31.5.2016 07:47:23 Edited by Macha: 31.5.2016 08:17:21 Awesome stuff mate! Great to hear him settling in quickly, and doing really well over there. Hope he forges himself a good career there, and then onto bigger and better things. Wish he was still at Sydney. :(.

Do you? How about you research into it and actually have a valid argument before arguing with my opinon that Jones won't be signing with Perth Glory.

A number of players will leave and therefore new players will have to be signed. N.E.C. is focusing on the Dutch, Belgian and Scandinavian market. General manager Bart van Ingen has indicated in rather vague words that the club is considering to propose new contractual provisions to Alireza Jahanbakhsh. Most likely this means that the club is in the process of thinking about offering an extension of the term of the existing contract in combination with a higher salary for the additional years. A complication is that under the rules for non-EU players N.E.C. must offer a salary amounting to at least 150% of average compensation in the Eredivisie. For illustration purposes, for the season 2014/2015 average gross compensation in Eredivisie amounts to euro 276,000 and 150% of the average therefore amounts to euro 414,000. For younger players (18 and 19 years old), the percentage is 75, for older players (20 and 20+) the percentage is 150. The amount mentioned euro 414,000 - is higher than the maximum compensation in N.E.C.s salary house. This salary house including salary caps has just recently at the beginning of the season - been created by management.
Sounds like they would be offering a little bit more than Perth would under the cap. Do you want me to provide a source that I know the A-league has a salary cap as well?
