adrtho is correct. The Kolpak Ruling means that citizens of non-EU countries with an Association Agreement with the European Union, such as some African players (without EU passports), can play in EU with the freedom to work which citizens of EU countries enjoy. South Africa, Zimbabwe and Algeria all have an Association Agreement with the European Union (there are more African countries). Same goes for non-African countries like Chile and Serbia.

Not South Sudan or Kenya though I see, so it's moot in Deng's case.

yes they are, they are under African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States or (ACP)

ACP has a Partnership Agreement, not an Association Agreement, and South Sudan isn't in it anyway.

Edited by paladisious: 29/6/2016 12:17:59 AM

it called the Cotonou Agreement

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cotonou_Agreement

and here, under EU Association Agreements in force

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union_Association_Agreement

It's not an Association Agreement, it's a Partnership Agreement, as described on the EU's own website. It doesn't come with freedom of movement.

Edited by paladisious: 29/6/2016 12:26:52 AM

do you know the different between EU Partnership Agreement and EU Association Agreement?

I see that an Association Agreement lets clubs not count to non EU quotas, but they still need a visa, so being Australian is probably better for him in this case.

I can't say for certain but I think it would be a piece of cake to get a visa if you're from a country with an EU Association Agreement. The Kolpak ruling basically said that the German Handball Federation had discriminated against Kolpak by treating him differently to a German citizen with respect to his freedom to work. The implication is that citizens from countries with an EU Association Agreement should be able to get a work permit/working visa for EU countries with absolute ease.

It's far easier for South African, Zimbabwean, Algerian, Israeli, etc. footballers to get a work permit/visa for EU countries than for Australians to do so.

Maybe Australia wants to keep its sovereignty, and not not sell out it's values like those tinpot nations

Fuck that. More Aussies Abroad is a better thing. Anyway it doesn't affect sovereignty. It's not like joining the EU. Hence European countries which want to keep their sovereignty but enjoy the benefits of EU membership have signed such agreements.

We should definitely do this too. It would be great for Australian football.

For starters, Milligan would likely have ended up playing football in Europe, rather than the Middle-East.

Discussing the Kolpak agreement is relevant to Aussies Abroad because for some Aussies, it means it's easier for them to play in Europe. And you never know, it may make things easier for all Aussies to play in Europe.

Laws and trade agreements have a big impact on Aussies Abroad, so it's worthy of discussion.

almost every Aussie in Europe, have some type passport advantage over a Australian only passport

the Aussie with out a passport advantage who have gone to EU , have mostly gone to Germany

So Roda has officially announced Juric will be leaving the club. Roda offered him a new contract but Juric "indicated that he appreciates the offer from Roda JC to him, however, has nevertheless opted for personal reasons motivating to continue his career elsewhere."

http://www.rodajc.nl/nieuwsbericht/28-06-2016/tomi-juric-verlaat-roda-jc-kerkrade

EDIT: Just as an add on for Aussies in the region ADO Den Haag apparently are in for Brad Jones. With them finishing a spot below NEC last year I can't see them being that much more attractive though. Don't know too much about the club though

So Ikon's old youth manager Simone Inzaghi has signed for Salernitana and may want Ikon back on loan but many are iffy because of how his season ended (ditching the club to play for Australia).

Also Helmon sport in the Eerste apparently want Armenakas on loan for the season

Helmond Sport hopes the nearly 18-year-old midfielder Panos Armenakas to rent a season of Udinese. The manager of the Australian youth international confirms interest from Helmond.
"There has been a number of discussions with Helmond Sport. The total package should be good. Panos must arrive to play. There is plenty of interest, including from other Dutch clubs, but Helmond Sport is certainly an option," said the agent of promise .

Armenekas is currently fixed until 2018 at Udinese, which he picked up at Watford in the summer of 2014. The Greek-Australian teenager was in England as a great talent to book, but chose Italy. The midfielder comes in Udine not covered by the main body and has to make elsewhere minutes. Armenekas linker is a midfielder, but can also be from the front feet.

Interesting news about Panos no doubt for his development he needs to start playing first team football and move away from youth football.

Ibini is also alive, apparently fit and driving on the wrong side of the road.

Quote:
Club Brugge has not had a lot of fun to Bernie Ibini, the bosom friend of Mathew Ryan. The Australian missed last season with a completely fracture, and behind the wheel, he apparently is not a hero.

Ibini namely received a fine of 270 euros. Most players get penalties for speeding, but Ibini was more dangerous working. For he was driving on a roundabout on the left, which obviously can be dangerous. We have to add to it that driving in Australia left, apparently Ibini has that adjustment not so well digested.

There is also good news for Ibini, because since this week he can finally get back anyhow at Club Brugge. By which fracture he was almost a year out, but now his rehabilitation finally over. Ibini is thus in a sense the first summer transfer for Club, though it is difficult for him. Ibini namely prefers to play on the wing, where José Izquierdo and Lior Refaelov competitors to fear.

http://www.voetbalprimeur.be/nieuws/670073/club-brugge-speler-ibini-krijgt-boete-voor-bizarre-verkeersovertreding.html

Kruse likely to leave Leverkusen. Information of multiple clubs interested but no names. Kruse himself has apparently requested offers to be shown. Looking forward to a positive move. Freiburg would be handy. Bremen, Frankfurt or Augsburg too. Buli2 sides Hannover, Düsseldorf, Kaiserslautern or Bochum would be great places to get heaps of matches in the run up to Russia.
