I'd say many clubs will love to have sfc wsw scalps this season.

Take the NPL 1 Victoria (Victoria's 2nd division) Melbourne victory got promoted while city had a fairly average year so you never know, there could be some great scalps against the 3 A-league teams.

From the single early in the pre season game I saw Of Sydney FC's youth I suspect they will be top 4 however I doubt they will smash the league, Marconi, Spirit and Bankstown City will no doubt be looking for promotion so should make for an interesting season.

Will be crucial for all clubs looking for promotion to have strong 18's and 20's also.

You're not wrong. I hate that promotion/relegation relies on 20's and 18's. Only league in the country to do that.

I think it's to ensure clubs look after all their age groups instead of having an awesome first grade and treating the 20's, 18's and the rest like a joke. We have a few clubs which already treat their youth teams like a joke in order to financially support their first grade.

What clubs would they be?

Relegation from the Brisbane Premier League is based on Premier, Reserves, 18s and 16s. Interestingly, promotion TO the BPL is based only on the 1st team.

wasn't there myself, however I heard some of the Jap imports looked good.

but apparently, if Hakoah don't start signing a few decent players, they will struggle this season.

I haven't watched our first grade play but I know Mark Robertson (coach) has been away for a while. He won't come back for another few weeks. It makes a difference.

As a neutral I am definitely interested. If all four make promotion it will be a clusterfuck of ex nsl teams and aleague youth teams.

Never a boring moment.

Thanks SU-58.
Games galore now looking ahead which is great - I have a boy in NPL3's so already at Nepean for the day but on the way home that wsw/vblacktown could be a stop over depending.
I reckon the re vamp is breath of fresh air in each level, more so 2's 3's but also will be keeping an eye on 1's ofcourse and looking to make a game or 3 depending on schedules.

Ahh yes. I coached against GRM in the past 3 years. I can't stand the pitch. How are you finding the coaching, etc? I found the age groups (16-18's) that I coached against played long ball football.

TBH the pitch is not too bad, could be better but local council are not working to GRM's liking I expect.
Sharing it with a bloody baseball club has its limitations as well for starters.
GRM has the funds in the kitty but looking ahead GRM is not there long term I'm led to believe, word is 2 new synthetics are going ahead at Spirits Christie Park and a move there is a possibility ??????

Coaching - yes one of its issues even though the heart is in the right spot - changes have been made for coming season also gained SAP. Trial numbers were very healthy for all age groups. Last season YL success by Tigers U15's, Northbridge's promotion has increased player shifts.
U16-18's last year were lacking no doubt about it incl 20's - watched some of the games, lacked quality, not sure if coaching fault 100% but for sure a contributer I expect.
U15's were the leading lights, good coaching, playing from the back - punched above their weight finishing 3rd on the ladder and making the GF to lose on pens.
For us onlookers - no matter the frustrations best souvlaki rolls in town !
Which club you with ?

Hopefully your boy gets good coaching. Moving to a field with synthetic would be great because I always found the pitch at GDM's home ground to be bumpy though it's not as bad as Rydalmere's ground.

I was at Dulwich Hill but now I'm at Hakoah Sydney City East.

I'm expecting the boy to have better coaching this season, the new one is a step up from last season, all else fails its trials elsewhere end of season.
Rydlamere's ground is like grounds I played Div1 back in the day - shouldn't be allowed in todays league or told to fix it or out imo.
Good luck with Hakoah, I like it they have got themselves back up, I watched the final at Lambert park 2seasons back vsing NB, they got out of goal by that big bald headed dood, good player.

I agree with Rydalmere.

Thanks. From my days coaching against Hakoah, they seemed really well organised as a club so I was over the moon to get a chance with them. It's been good. I watched that game at Lambert Park - Lloyd Owusu is the one you are talking about. He was at Rydalmere last year.

Agree kolner, being trials and everyone's first hit out you can never judge especially having not been there but as you say - 8zip is damn ugly, as we know normally everyone is keen and most if not all are raring to go but makes you wonder for them ?

well i dont blame them.
who wants to report a hammering.
also, i see many of the wanderers first grade squad played. from what i know, they wont feature in the npl 2 (guys like shannon cole, hamill, mebratu).
as such, im sure it wont be the same score when the teams meet in the competition proper.

marconi played both rooney and pavlovic. also their captain with the dreadlocks played.
marconi were honestly shocking. could not string 5 passes together. long balls to no one.
wsw looked great. youlley bossed the midfield. changed their team at half time.

Reddy in goals as well.
Look, imo HAL players or not you sure have been out played as stated by post/s above.
I expect wsw have been in training far longer and better prepared whereas marconi at rebuild stage and not having trained enough ?? - come comp I expect a huge difference but great hit out by wsw.
It was damn muggy yesterday - I watched Dunbar Rovers vsing Tigers, I was sweating sitting in my seat !
