4505: Against Perth which usually is a decent draw card 5641: Against NJ on a public Holiday 6303: Against Briisbane - 25 degrees on a beautiful sunny day 7131: V Adelaide Utd - "Let the Pigeons loose" 6096: V Perth- again it was hot - not enough shade at AAMI
Heart Out -> SMFC In
South will generate atleast 7k before 1 marketing dollar is even spent at its own stadium

Why does there always have to be one struggler. Average attendance right now is under 1000, but that's in a state competition, with no promotion, no tv deal and most of our supporters turned off by the fact that there is no prospect of playing on the national level. The supporters would return if national level football did.

I don't know anything about SMFC so here's some novice questions Do most SMFC supporters want to be in the A-League? Would they play at AAMI? Not trolling, but would behaviour need to be seriously addressed? (Is that even an issue?) Would they build on that 7k?
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Staying out of this whole heart debate shit cuz ive already debated it 1000 times, but its my understanding that SXFC wanted to play all there games out of AAMI. I can also confirm SMFC 100% want to play in the A-league. I sent them a email suggesting a merge between them and Heart about a month a go and they told me they want to join the A-league.

Edited by aussie4ever4: 9/12/2012 03:15:33 PM I believe your biggest home attendance at a regular season game is still v smfc - and smfc had 11k v Perth in a midweek game - how ironic Heart could only manage 4,505 what could the Heart offer smfc - oh! except for their debts if fans are prepared to follow the Heart which has a very ambigious model - south should be a revelation for them - no doubt - a true football culture, spirit and body

Chris, get over yourself.
You come on here to try and make a big issue out of anything you feel suits your cause. Its typical of you.

They would have to drop the ethnic identity which can be done, like Roar.

Aussie4ever4 wrote:They would have to drop the ethnic identity which can be done, like Roar. Unfortunately, I feel that as its actually a major part of the clubs identity / culture, separating it out at SMFC would be far harder. Any diluting of that to fit the HAL requirements would likely be met with nothing by derision by many there from what I have read over time.

waggzzz2 wrote:why dont heart play out of olympic park where the tards used to play? It has been demolished. It will now be Collingwood's AFL training ground. The Athletic venue is now at Albert Park and AAMI Park replaced OP for rectangular sports. The only other venue that can be used is Albert Park.

They'd probably have just as much core base support.
It would be hard though to extend the appeal of SM in the greater community for the future.

I dont mind the Heart, and im not really one of those "zomg put South in the A league" types, but even i have to conceed that as a national brand we have more upside, having our own stadium gives us great leverage, Heart are unfortunately stuck playing the role of little brother to Victory at AAMI Park, South on the other hand would be seen as the legitimate rival playing on the other side of the city. This isnt a knock on heart, its just the reality of the current situation, its a stupid discussion because heart could fold and smfc still wouldnt get a sniff.....to put it in perspective Heart got 4.5k against Perth last night, the last time SMFC played Perth in Melbourne the crowd was 12k...and this was in the dying days of the nsl where even 5k was considered a good crowd.

Pity the FFA will never approve lakeside stadium for A-league matches. and rightly so we're trying to move the game forward in this country not revert back to pub league stadiums

How the shit are Perth a decent drawcard for Heart fans? :lol: 4,500 on 37 degree day against Perth was probably what I was expecting. No, it's not great, but it was expected.

Real shame the Casey bid in the south-east suburbs or even stadium didn't get up but it was never likely after the government forked out the money for AAMI Park. Wish Heart were based in Geelong, then theyd have a proper identity.

Edited by lukerobinho: 9/12/2012 05:29:46 PM Are we talking about the stadium that has lighting, scoreboard, corporate areas and all round facilities that are approved by the highest level of athletics the IAAF? so basically good enough to host Usain Bolt...but not the A league? give us a spell:lol:....27,000 empty green seats at AAMI Park looks pub league, the sooner Heart get into negotiations with smfc to shift some games to lakeside the sooner they club can stop bleeding to death.
