Not to mention we're all familiar with his antics...
But the fact remains, he's still a big name in europe and could still lure a fat paycheck back home too.

while we all know the announcement of zura as marquee.. I still wouldn't want this bloke. He's 32, sure thats not that OLD but an up-and coming 24 year old vs a 32 year old that comes for an easy paycheck.. it would easily be the 24 y/o. he has something to prove.

Wanker. You're just like all the other mindless bogans who bag out Sydney for no reason. Wazza matter - your club not big enough to help make the A-League grow? Thought so...

Sounds too good to be true. If it is, they will join Sydney FC as the only clubs actually trying for proper "Marquee" players.

Was sooo hoping it'd be true, even if it was only for 5 or 6 games only... I'd definitely go from Sydney to watch him in Newcastle. Got to meet him and most of the team just before the final qualifier and was such a cool down to earth guy, putting up with ugly old ladies kissing him and everyone was going nuts... Both, in favour and us against Uruguay...hehe.
We were in the middle of Sydney right between the QVB and the Hilton in a massive Union march against hoWARd's WorkChoices... About 40 thousand plus people chanting songs, and booing Uruguay and then doing the Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi... very unreal and hilarious! The whole team came out from the QVB to check the Rally!
I always wondered what they thought about it compared to Unions rallies in South America... It did show them there's enough passion and gutsy crowds DownUnder... Reminds me of the game, even got in trouble @ work coz I couldn't talk for about a week! ha!
Anyway, I'll be going to see ex-Liverpool's Boys' Bosnich in Mariners' colours for sure! He didn't even play for the school team after yr11 coz he already was going pro... Bastard! ;-) Hope they do confirm him ASAP.
We need more classy players like Recoba and Boz in the league to help set the standard and make our good local players stay (at least for a while longer!)

No, there was talk of it, but apparently they're sitting down for contract talks soon. afromanGT wrote: Not to mention Recoba could get time in a mid-table italian or spannish club easily, why would he come here?

I'm not sure why we're responding to a pissant like PazzaInter.
By the way, the capacity of Newcastle's Energy Australia is 26,000

PazzaInter wrote: 2005/2006 - 8,912 2006/2007 - 11,442 2007/2008 - 13,209 The highest crowd in the home and away season was 16,433, and in the 2 games in the finals (at home) were 22,960 and in the game to qualify for the grand final (the most important game of the season) there was a meagre 16,021. Newcastle's record crowd for any game was the semi final against Sydney in the 06/07 season, which was just over 24,000 (still not a full stadium).
The highest home and away season game for the Jets was over 20k against Sydney FC on January 1 2007. Those average crowd figures you mentioned do not include finals games. Which we have actually played more of than any other team (9) which, incidentally, is 3 times more than you melbourneans. The crowd figures for finals games last year were also well under rated, as towards the time of kick off they just started letting people through the gates without scanning the tickets. I was at both the record crowd game, as well as last years preliminary final, and there definitely wasn;t 8,000 people different in the two games. PazzaInter wrote: To give you an idea of where my fans were last year, we had an average crowd of 26,064. Your record crowd was still 2,064 under our AVERAGE. Also our record crowd more doubles yours.
Why not try and make a comparison which actually means something? Like a per capita of target market comparison. Even aveaging 13k we only have about 500k to draw from. You have nearly 4 million. Your crowds SHOULD be way bigger than ours, but they still pale into comparison per capita. The only club which even gets close to ours when it comes to per capita is Central Coast. PazzaInter wrote: Congratulations Balls, I've met some twats in my life but you are by far the biggest....Where did your fans go last year??? Twat factor = off the richter scale. ROLLED
Since when does twattiness get measured on the Richter scale? PS. Recoba FTW!
