GWS has just offered an international scholarship to Danish footballer: Aksel Bang (great name by the way). http://www.gwsgiants.com.au/news/2013-02-04/sheedy-goes-with-bangQuote:Head Coach Kevin Sheedy said he was delighted to bring a player from Denmark to the GIANTS. The club has formed several partnerships in Europe including the South East London GIANTS, the North Leinster GIANTS (Ireland), the Zaprude GIANTS (Croatia) and the Skane GIANTS (Sweden).

Took up the game two years ago and now he's signed for a club in the best league on the planet. He's obviously a super talent and says nothing about required skill levels.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Israel Folau and Carmichael Hunt are evidence of the low skill level required in AFL. You won't see people crossing over at the elite level into football.

Shows how much lower the skill level is in soccer compared to AFL tbh.

Sure, if they're happy to earn more money playing a lower skilled game, that's fine.

I'm not sure if Izzy is a great example to be honest.
In League, Izzy killed everyone in the air, no one did it better, thrashed them - he absolutely towered over those NRL midgets.
In the AFL, in all honesty, he got nowhere near it - he was just another 195 cm bloke with poor aerobic capacity, poor reading of the game who couldn't compete in the air against blokes who knew what they were doing.
And to be perfectly frank, there were times when he clearly wasn't too keen to get anywhere near it.

There is a 71 page AFL thread. Why not lock this one and continue it all in one thread.

This thread is not making comparisons of any useful nature, that couldn't be consolidated into a single and easily accessible thread. Pointless to see the same thing repeated in both.

But if someone wants to talk about the Wanderers in the context of what the Giants may or may not be doing, they won't be allowed to raise it on the AFL thread (under the normal rules of engagement).

Since this thread is not doing that, perhaps the Wanderers can post in the Wanderers thread and Giants can post in the AFL thread. It's more efficient for all concerned as it reduces the posts by half (considering there ain't much in common between the two sports).

No AFL player knows how to goal keep.

The AFL doesn't have internationals... And no Soccer player knows how to bounce an oval ball correctly...what's your point.
