Took up the game two years ago and now he's signed for a club in the best league on the planet. He's obviously a super talent and says nothing about required skill levels.

It's a scholarship - he's not officially on the list as such.

Israel Folau and Carmichael Hunt are evidence of the low skill level required in AFL.
You won't see people crossing over at the elite level into football.

No soccer player has crossed over to the elite level of AFL. Shows how much lower the skill level is in soccer compared to AFL tbh.

I'm not sure if Izzy is a great example to be honest.

In League, Izzy killed everyone in the air, no one did it better, thrashed them - he absolutely towered over those NRL midgets.

In the AFL, in all honesty, he got nowhere near it - he was just another 195 cm bloke with poor aerobic capacity, poor reading of the game who couldn't compete in the air against blokes who knew what they were doing.

And to be perfectly frank, there were times when he clearly wasn't too keen to get anywhere near it.

This thread is not making comparisons of any useful nature, that couldn't be consolidated into a single and easily accessible thread. Pointless to see the same thing repeated in both.

It's been 4+ pages since the Wanderers have been mentioned.

But if someone wants to talk about the Wanderers in the context of what the Giants may or may not be doing, they won't be allowed to raise it on the AFL thread (under the normal rules of engagement).

Since this thread is not doing that, perhaps the Wanderers can post in the Wanderers thread and Giants can post in the AFL thread. It's more efficient for all concerned as it reduces the posts by half (considering there ain't much in common between the two sports).
