Moreton Bay vs Fury

Strkers have a case to be pissed, but in reality it was unlikely the Jets would slip up against SWQ.

Yeah, but their game was against SWQ Thunder, who has not won a single game in two years and conceeds on average between 4 and 5 goals a game.

Northern Fury were a tougher proposition for Strikers, particularly because they needed to win by a bigger margin than Moreton Bay.

Certainly not a guarantee for Moreton Bay, but odds were in their favour.

Really clutching at straws that everything goes according to plan.

All to do with the reduction in NYL games is my guess. Previously they basically had two different sets of players - one played in the NYL and the other in the NPL.

Now there's only enough games for one set of players, so the NPL guys get moved on.

Except it was most of the NYL players moved on, and the NPL players "promoted".

Gives other NPL clubs good access to a variety of promising youth players though, whereas in the past they'd have probably ventured to Melbourne.

A bit of a shout out to South West Queensland Thunder. Only managing 3 points from 2 full seasons of football and now have a total of 7 points. They are in 4th position. Could see them in the Cup as well.

Great to see, and hopefully they can keep in up and remain competitive this season.

Far too soon to make this argument, but it could be used as an example of why a national second division would need to be a closed league for a year or two, to give the clubs time to settle in.

Also the 1 point they got in season 1 was due to a game being called off iirc. :lol:

I think it was the other way around actually. They beat CQFC, who were later removed from the competition and all their games erased. So they actually did have a win before this season, but the record books won't show it.

Any chance of a central queensland team being re established. Shocking form how they got cut. What a joke.

I don't know a lot of about it, but I think they were cut because they weren't meeting the criteria they agreed to with regards to junior teams. Not ideal for the region, but fair enough if they couldn't meet the conditions of entry.
