....go on, list the best food joints in the country. I'm talking about Pizza/Fish and Chip/Coffee/Kebab/Souvlaki Shops here in the main, but if you have a ripper bakery-cake shop, then go for it.

Even the Kiwi's on here can list for shops over there too.

Something like "Mario's Pizza, Balmain, NSW. Large Hawaiian's for $12. I eat there all the time".

Suburban/localised joints preferred. But shops on 'main road shopping strips' can be named also. Chain stores please avoid.

Best burger in South Melbourne is at the Clarendon St Fish and Chips.

More will come to me later.

Where abouts in Balmain is that?

IMO the best Pizza joint in Balmain is Stars at Gigi's opposite Gladstone Park. Marina Lunga opp. Town Hall Hotel does a mean pizza, too!

The Yeeros store opposite Bankstown Station (located on the railway overpass) does an insane kebab. Haven't been there in a while, but should go back.

Urgh, I swear the only take away people have on the Gold Coast is McDonalds.

There's a few decent kebab and curry places if you're willing to look for them. There's this Indian take away at Tree Tops on the Coast which does a $12 curry with rice poppadoms and a drink, I also recommend spending the extra $2 for a naan. Considering the next cheapest Indian take away on the Coast is about 20-25 bucks without poppadoms or a naan, it's not bad. There's one round the corner to that though which always has a lot of people in it, I haven't gone there yet but I imagine it's more a restaurant than a take away place.

Andrew's Hamburgers, Albert Park (or there abouts), Vic. Best hamburgers for the way the different ingredients integrate when you bite it. No need for wagyu here.

The best kebab I've ever had has got to be in Footscray at the corner of Gordon and Ballarat Roads. It's on the ground floor of a student apartment building. My girlfriend and I used to go there multiple times a week when she was living there because the food was just too good!

Also in Footscray there is the Taj Palace. Anyone in the area knows about it because its been mainstay for decades, and there's a good reason why.

For cheap food that's also good near Melbourne Uni go to Don Tojo's on Cardigan St, about 5 minutes away. Massive bowls of Japanese food for under $7 and bottles of Asahi for $4. I swear I go there at least once a week. The chicken curry don is amazing. You can even get extra chicken for another $1 or so.

It never occurred to me until you said this that Pancake Parlour was a Melbourne only thing. I had the same "never eating breakfast anywhere else" feeling when I first tried this place http://www.demitrisfeast.com.au/p/menu.html

The best kebabs in Melbourne for me are at Town Hall Kebab van on Sydney rd.

It was on Anthony Bourdain's show FFS. Go there.

Also on Sydney rd, The Edinburgh Castle hotel does smashing kangaroo burgers.

Speaking of Kebabs, went to Glenelg in Adelaide in Round 2, some place near the water there, absolutely shit-house kebab (or yiros as they called it). Bread was crap, sauce was crap.

Melbourne on the other hand, had Stalactites (Spelling?). Very very good. Probably one of the best I've ever had. Souvlaki they called it.
