And now Wide Bay seniors have disappeared too! Time to admit defeat, Statewide football just doesn't work.
I see on the CQ FB page some local clubs once again are up in arms about the regional development series encroaching on "their development series", the petty politics never stop. Not sure how well the model is being supported in FNQ,NQ?

MEDIA RELEASE - NEW FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT STAFF FOR NORTH QUEENSLAND North Queensland Football (NQF) is pleased to announce Benjamin Gough as the zone’s Technical Development Manager (TDM). As the zone’s TDM, Gough will be responsible for leading coach education, player and game development to grow the technical level of football participants in North Queensland. Gough will play a key role in managing the technical framework of the Talent Support Programs (TSP). Another core focus will be on implementing and monitoring FFA-mandated community programs throughout the zone which will include coaching and developing Community Coaches. An FFA B-Licence coach, Gough is currently completing his A-Licence and said he was looking forward sharing his knowledge and continuing to learn in North Queensland. “Building a network of likeminded passionate football people will be the key to success, we all need to work together,” he said. Gough has been the Technical Director of the Skills Acquisition Phase (SAP) program at Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC since 2014 and has over 17 years of experience as a football player and educator. As a PDHPE teacher, Gough is experienced in developing educational programs and curriculum in conjunction with FFA guidelines and also boasts experience as a football coach and administrator at Football NSW and Blacktown City Demons FC. Zone General Manager Declan Carnes said the appointment of Gough to the role of TDM will bring stability to the region, along with quality football experience supported by Football Queensland. “Football Queensland investing in regional youth development will help rebuild the foundation of our game in Townsville and its regions,” he said. Gough will be joined by ex-professional football and FFA A-Licence Townsville local Gareth Edds, who will head up the Football Queensland SAP program working alongside Gough and some of the region’s best coaches. Edds played professionally in the United Kingdom from 1997 and returned to Australia in 2010 to finish his career locally with the then-Hyundai A-League side North Queensland Fury. He said he was glad to be able to give back to the game locally. “I’m very excited to be joining the Football Queensland team and being able to contribute to one of the most important parts of player development, the Skill Acquisition Phase,” he said. Gough has now started his role as Technical Development Manager and trial dates for the Football Queensland TSP and SAP will be announced in the coming days.

+xNQ Fur... I mean United are second last. So much for a name change equalling a change of fortune. I was right. Dumped out of the cup by Cairns at home. Name change solved everything. DC.

+x+x+x+xI think if e keep doing as we have for the past 13yrs we will continue to fail. Continue to fail? You had an NPL team and now you don't so whats your definition of fail? No no. Tell the entire story. A club that was in the AL. Bailed out for one more year. Revived in the NPL. Died in the NPL. All in just over 5 years. hahahah bailed out/ truth is could not get more than 4000 to a game and where did they finish. Then shut down for being unviable. Survived ? never got to finals (nearly did under edds)caused a GESSA - Fury rift splitting football in half in the town, bottom half of the table- one season did not win a game- 40pl at games- took app $1750000 from parents of academy players for over 5 years, hated by half of Townsville- Catch cry of all in Football Townsville " The community needs to get behind us" even today I read people write this. My question Why? what do you think we owe you? what have you earned on your own? why would we ever trust you? now you want every player to pay a $15 levee. Why would we? Why should we? No thanks I think we would all be better off supporting AFL Waaaaaaah

Need a 3 year brake not 1 Need to get rid of the pigs from the trough Need to set things up for ever or at least until the next chancer comes along to try to tag over everyone’s hard work. Same people for 13 yrs Same problems for 13yrs Same terrible result for 13yrs Time to fix the real problem so we can get on with winning.

This mob's starting to make the Fury look like a bunch of pros. FQ need to grow a set and do what they said they would if there were any breachs - pull the licence.
North Qld United could take year-long sabbatical Jon Tuxworth, Townsville Bulletin December 7, 2017 3:58pm
FOOTBALL Queensland (FQ) believes North Queensland United (NQU) should take a year off competing in the National Premier League to get its financial health in order, warning it “will probably be gone forever” if it falls over mid season.
FQ CEO Geoff Foster met with stakeholders at a meeting in Townsville last night, where he outlined the options available for the besieged franchise.
With less than three months until the start of the NPL season, Foster’s preference is for the NQU board to devote a year to developing their junior base and working toward long term financial stability.
If that option is taken it is hoped they would be ready to return by 2019, but it would be up to the discretion of the Football Queensland board.
NQU has been rocked by the recent departures of president Sirio Bertucci and coach Ian Shaw, who left before even coaching a single game, while several board directors have also moved on.
Football Queensland has asked for a decision from NQU by the weekend, but they would require rock solid proof they could fund an NPL team in 2018 for it to go ahead.
“Our first preference is a full license, that’s going to be a challenge because our first game is early February and basically they’re starting from scratch,” Foster said.
“I personally favour the option of putting the senior men’s team on hold for 12 months and continue to develop the youth, which includes the girls, work with the zone so they can seamlessly slip in again in 2019.
“If they get it wrong and it falls over halfway through the season, it will probably be gone forever.
“If they want to go a different way, they’ll have to come back with some fairly solid evidence they’ve got the financial resources to fund a full license.
“If they miss this opportunity (by rushing into a failed model for 2018) they probably don’t get another crack for six or seven years.”
Should a senior men’s team take a year off, junior games will be organised against Mackay and Cairns and teams will compete in the FQ Community Cup, formerly the state championships.
After struggling to field enough under 15 and 16 players, NQU issued an altered proposal to FQ where players who register with local clubs would pay a levy to be eligible for NQU selection.
It isn’t FQ’s preferred option, but one they’re prepared to work with to ensure Townsville retains an advanced player pathway.
“The notion of the community players doesn’t sit well with Football Queensland, but a $15 levy is a whole lot more palatable than a $45 levy which was originally proposed,” Foster said.
Foster insisted he still has confidence NQU has the leaders in place to stabilise the franchise, despite the recent upheaval.
“Absolutely, and we’ll be supporting them all the way through that,” Foster said.
“If that means I’ve got to send Richard (Griffiths, FQ chief operating officer) up there for a couple of weeks, then so be it.
“I don’t think it (finances needed) is that bad or out of reach, 100 grand would probably pull it up and it’s not too much to ask.
“We want it to be there’s. We don’t want it to be a Football Queensland clone, it needs to have community ownership for it to work.”
However, NQU will likely have to have a solid female program in place to be given the green light.
“If they came back and said we’ve got some junior boys and no girls, that probably wouldn’t cut it, the girls are as important to us as the boys,” Foster said.
“Townsville’s ideally located to be a central hub for north Queensland football development and that’s something we’re exploring, particularly in the women’s space.”
North Queensland United officials have been sought for comment, but are yet to return calls.

+xBut the real question I was asking is Should everyone be charged $40 to provide funds for elitist players? What do people in the othe areas of Australia think? “We just need to make sure there’s a sustainable model up there that can provide certainty for the players and the most important thing is ensuring there’s an operating model that ensures it’s ongoing stability,” Griffiths said. Now that is the answer to the question and has been for 13 yrs?

I will never regret the fury are gone. You are correct there are 2 sides to every story, but the truth is the truth. There is much more to dig up but I’ll leave that to the townsville magpie. You are also correct about not having an NPL Team but weather we deserve it or not is a matter of opinion. I think if e keep doing as we have for the past 13yrs we will continue to fail. Amazed that so many who never played the game and proudly call themselves rugby people are so sure they know how to develop players and what we should all do for them.

+x[quote]Yep life with fury was intolerable.1 we had an a league team lost under ??? assistant coach was ??. Razorbacks gone coach was ??? Bottom of the ladder last season coach was ????. COE Rubish gone who was TD ???? Fury does great with Gareth edds crowds app 1000 just miss finals but who fights with him ??? Causes huge open wound in football Townsville and who is the instigator??? Who comes back as TD where does fury end up 7 , 7 , last who is TD. who is manager who is coach ????Same people across the years. What does the new mob do first get rid of all the people involved for the past 13 yr disasters. Besides the fact they were never given a fair go and still some parents harp for their elite states through their children we still face the problem that we have and always will until we take a breath and change course. Although no one will want to hear it this may be the breath of clean air we desperately need. Oh Please Krones get your hand off it mate! There's 2 sides to a story and it all can't be one sided. The last couple of years Fury have been undemined at every turn by the local clubs and academies with their own agenda. Seriously, what you expect to happen! It's been so frustrating to be watching a region destroying itself because everyone know what is best for your child. We will never know what could of been had we all been unified You finally got what you wanted and your still complaining
