Not sure if this discussion is really going anywhere, but here's my opinion for what its worth... The grassroots in this country is starving for funds and the FFA is happy to see a large percentage of the $20 million spent on a bunch of one-off Tim Cahill training clinics. A public relations celebrity grab by Foxtel rather than a real investment in the grassroots in my opinion. How about supporting the clubs and associations that are our grassroots and faciltating the development of a clear pathway for elite young players from these clubs and associations through to the A-league club youth structures?

Wrong forum Rod, most people on the 442 think any money is good money and the FFA can do no wrong.

I wonder if the NZFF is taking notes on how to increase Footballs "footprint" over here in the Shakey Isles starting with a comparable free to view(as well as delayed) coverage of the A-League. Of course we won't be holding our breath.

And neither should you hold your breath. This is an Australian package for Australian kids. New Zealand will have to find its own way to look after its football.

That's probably some of the money we were shortchanged in the last tv deal. Good news for the kids, the future of the game.

"Football has 1.7 million participants across Australia and the majority are young players who enjoy a game that is skilful, safe and accessible to boys and girls"

This is great news from Foxtel but I'd love if the FFA used the cash or part of the cash to go to subsidising junior football fee's which are an extortion to say the least.
