Nice.

It's kind of pointless/redundant - while it's a nice compilation, sum up, it's out of date on some - especially in comparison to your own updates Joffa! ;) Mind you, it's projected overall target of 105k members seems awfully ambitious, but to be fair it seems to be largely based on many of the clubs' own stated targets. Clearly Roar and AU would be doing extremely well to even surpass 70% of their own 10k targets and Glory will, UNFORTUNATELY, no way reach 8k members, especially so with the way they seem to handle memberships, or have so far! :(

As we've already discussed, just beating the A-League record set last season would be great in itself, though reaching a mark around 80k or even over, seems well realistic at this point! Anything beyond 85k would be exceptionable - And the ones who'd be taking up that slack, IF the total WERE to reach beyond that point, would indeed be the likes of Roar, AU and even Glory! So, you never know? Let's hope so!

BTW If you check the Adelaide Reds link, you will see Adelaide United is now up to 3653 members, up by nearly hundred from last count (Whenever that was)! \:d/

The Brisbane number doesn't look right. It's been exactly 4000 for a while now.
Maybe somebody can do some digging for the actual numbers.

Yeah, the Jerks have been "more than 7500 members" for at least a week, maybe 2-3 weeks now.

I still think we'll struggle to get 9k members, as I originally predicted.

ccmariners.com.au Mariners set new Membership benchmark

Thursday, 22 August 2013 9:00 AM

More Members than ever before will be at Bluetongue Stadium throughout the forthcoming Hyundai A-League season, with Central Coast Mariners yesterday setting a new Club Membership benchmark.

At close of business on Wednesday the reigning Hyundai A-League Champions had secured 3,515 fully paid Members, up from the total of 3,501 Members signed up last campaign.

With 51 days still to go until the Club commences season nine of Australia’s top flight, Central Coast Mariners Group General Manager, Mr Peter Turnbull, is confident the Club can continue to grow its Member base.

“It is well documented that our Club’s target for the Hyundai A-League 2013/14 season in terms of Membership is 5,000 Members,” Turnbull said. “But we are naturally ecstatic that we have managed to topple our Member ‘PB’ with the new Hyundai A-League season still the best part of two months away.”

“We have a number of plans in place to reach our goal of 5,000 Members, many of which are based around continued engagement with fans as the excitement builds leading into our round one clash against Western Sydney Wanderers in Gosford.”

While Turnbull acknowledged that the Club’s Member figures are far smaller than the likes of Melbourne Victory and the Wanderers, he said that the Mariners’ new Member record and data recently shared with the Club by Football Federation Australia (FFA) highlights that the Club is moving in the right direction off the pitch.

“We sat down with officials from FFA recently who shared many Hyundai A-League and market specific insights with us following an extensive research period,” he said. “The data shows we are in a very sound position to grow our Club should we continue to work diligently.”

Turnbull praised the effort of the Mariners’ administration staff and football department in helping boost the Club’s Member numbers, however reserved the biggest thanks to each of the Club’s 3,515 Members signed up so far.

“The emotional and financial commitment of our Members to the Club enables us to put a talented and dedicated team of players on the pitch representing the Central Coast region in the Hyundai A-League and AFC Champions League,” he said.

“We would like to acknowledge everyone that has joined as a Member for next campaign, and hope many more supporters will opt to sign up as Members. With six New South Wales derbies at Bluetongue Stadium next season and Melbourne Victory coming to the Coast twice, being a Member is the only way to guarantee entry to our marquee matches. We have many membership options to make sure you can see the Champions play – including three and six game memberships."

In addition to the Mariners’ 3,515 fully paid Members, the Club also had 545 youngsters registered via its ‘Mariners Mates’ program. Mariners Mates enables kids 16 and under registered to play football on the Central Coast and in the Northern Suburbs Football Associations admission to all 13 of the Club’s Hyundai A-League 2013/14 matches at Bluetongue Stadium for just $10.

The only way to guarantee your seat at each 2013/14 season match is via a Central Coast Mariners Membership! Get on board today and help us reach 5,000 Members! Click here to sign up now or call our Membership team on 4353 7200 to discuss our Member and payment plan options.

Wanderers + natural growth for the rest

+ ADP too.

+ As part of natural growth - there's been a growth curve past few seasons and many areas were starting to trend. Clubs were also starting to catch onto the 'importance of Memberships' and building that base where in earlier A-L seasons they just neglected this area. Jets, SFC, Mariners and co are noteworthy examples. Wanderers and ADP gave that growth a booster shot - but let's not forget, the Tinkler-era Jets are another, more sustained, booster shot!

And proviso, some (Apologies I forget who) well rightly pointed out that these figures can be deceptive (Perth never there granted) - Largely because Wanderers ARE there. They were new and weren't even there seasons before AND we had smaller players like GCU and co there not THAT long ago, that lowered the average in crowds etc... Where Wanderers actually boost that.

As I've said a few times, you are only as strong as your weakest link and the weakest links 'before' were several and even as many as 'half the league' at it's lowest points - though (I hate to say this) GCU was the nadir of the entire league. But now, importantly, 'the base' of the league is much higher and even the former 'stragglers' are now growth areas of the league. Mariners and even Phoenix pushing to new highs on the back of their work in this area recent seasons. Roar are FINALLY pulling their finger out too, to a degree.

And infact, it's really BECAUSE OF 'the lows' of just a few seasons ago, that clubs clicked into gear to where they are now. As they realised the importance of a good member base, especially when crowds can be fickle or not always to the levels one may've previously just taken for granted (Ala A-L's bumper earlier seasons).

This is hopefully a wiser way to make the most of 'the good times' while they last. Because as we know, these things can be cyclical. But aslong as the base grows, then it should be sustained overall growth. And hopefully even, if Wanderers have a barren patch, another club - Heart, Roar, Glory or somebody can take up 'the slack' of growth, excitement, hype and league leading entertainment. Roar lifted the bar, Wanderers do too now, you always need a team lifting that bar, higher and higher, on and off the field.

As Joffa has been posting, this is because only some - nearly half (?) of the clubs have actual 'Membership Trackers/Tickers'. Some of them seem to have more 'tick' than others (Heart's updates fairly often! :o ). So as you guys mention, we have to rely on the in-frequent press releases from 'the rest' and even that's still better than Glory, who are genuinely behind the 8-ball, only releasing the new packages not too long ago.

Well said GloryPerth, I know alot of Roar fans that like to just come to games as they please, because they can, Stadium is so big so why be a Member. Platinum Membership the dearest gives you the perks etc but its just the same, you get your drinks, food in 5 secs. Get your Members area though. Theres at least 5 or 6 thousand fans out there that i dont think we will ever get Memberships unless the prices drop. We will still pull 14-15 thousand crowd average. Friday, finished work rant over :).

Via gauging Roar's FB page I think you are right. There are a number of Roar fans, perhaps some of them 'potential Roar members' who have voiced they are baulking at memberships due to the price.

This is something the Roar have to address - either they work on reducing the price of memberships from next season or, 'such is life', 'Que sera sera' - they accept that fact and just have to accept that their sights will need to be reduced down a little from that 10k. Because no way are they getting 10k members any time soon, not even within the next 2-3 seasons, not with some of the most expensive memberships in the league and some of the other 'perceived drawbacks' or 'lack of engagement' with the Roar that still exist.

I guess a few clubs in larger stadiums could well reduce their memberships to fill stadiums and build interest, just as NJ have done quite well, but its a matter of just how that stacks up financially.

BR, MH, PG, SFC, WP and even CCM could all attempt this as they have significant amounts of seats to fill in their venues. The only clubs that are in a stronger position to not have to make these steps currently are MV (at AAMI), WSW and AU, who all have stadiums which are limited in their capacity and are filled quite well as it is.

I'm happy with the league-wide increase in membership sales but I am disappointed with my club's total. We should be a 7-8,000 membership club at least. We certainly shouldn't be getting fewer members than Heart!

Thing is, I'm not advocating for the Roar to go 'whole hog' 'Jets' scenario, but even SFC have a relatively cheaper package compared to Roar who are amongst, if not THE, most expensive. What's also come up in discussion from Brisbane folk on FB, is that fellow Suncorp tenants and 'rivals' perhaps, the Broncos, have a membership which is a good $75-80 cheaper than Roar's!

Now I know the bigger crowds they draw and their ability to break even with their stadium agreement helps - but again, if a Brisbane punter, who may or may not be a Broncos member, looks into Roar's memberships and inevitably compares, then it may turn off a number of punters - especially when dollars are tighter, family groups are involved etc...

And even though SFC, Jets and co are in 'other markets' - with the Internet these days etc... 'technically' SFC, Jets and co ARE rivals 'OFF' the field aswell - people will not only inevitably compared with other entertainment in Brisbane, but also other A-League clubs. And the differential there raises even more eyebrows.

I'm not unsympathetic to the need to balance the books and perhaps the difficulties with being a tenant at Suncorp... but SFC and some others are in a larger, NRL, venue, with crowds hardly that superior to Roar's (Not pre-ADP days anyway) and they're working it out? Roar have the Bakries now, so surely they would see it worthwhile, subsidising the memberships to a degree to make them more 'cost competitive' with the teams of similar circumstance in the league and therefore too, within reasonable reach of what the Broncos offer too. Even if it's just within $30 of the Broncos membership (Which, $30 within the Broncos membership would actually be around the price of Sydney FC's equiv memberships), that's a bit more alluring, reasonable, than the huge difference now, which could be seen as quite embarrassing and counter productive.

Can only concur with similar sentiments for Glory. But I think you guys are doing a damn sight better in this area than Glory. You will have a greater member count than Perth's that's for sure. I know that perhaps isn't saying much, but I also believe you guys will be pushing a new club record too - so that's good going.
