Now all we need to do is actually play football. Come on JA, you can do it  If MH can get to 6,000 that would be huge considering the poor season last year and MV competition.

And earn the ire of the already signed & possibly multiple season loyalists? No, any promotion to lure new members has to include existing members and should also be in conjunction with extra rewards for multi year loyals.

Seems I could have spoken too soon, as MH are now up to 4,431, up 27 from earlier this evening. Decent increase there.
I agree that clubs have to be careful to give incentives to new members, whilst others have already signed up and would likely miss out on the same offer. It just drives dissatisfaction in your membership base which will certainly not help.

Fuck them off already. Biggest waste of space Its true the memberships for the Nix are low but why cant we have both a Nz team and a Canberra team? Besides the fact that the Nix can never play in the ACL. because we are under no obligation to train a club from a foreign nation using our federations money. The Nix pay there own way and more There is no point Joffa, he doesn't have any concept of how the league works. Sorry I missed the concept of having the New Zealand capital in the Australian league when Canberra isn't even involved. Please, justify. I'm intrigued. This discussion (and slight variations of) has been done to death on these forums. I presume Joffa could point to you the numerous threads which have discussed this 'issue' many, many times, over the seasons.

Good to see that almost every club is over the 4k membership mark. Not sure what's happening at the Nix, but they really need to work harder to build a membership culture. Adelaide and Brisbane, even though they have targets of 10k, which is probably unrealistic, they should both be able to get to the 7-8k mark. And Glory should get 5k at least, so we're probably still looking for 10-15k more memberships for season 9.

Just on the Nix's ... I have no great local knowledge... but sometimes look at their media and its SFA ... Sorta like ours a few years ago.. DG constant media appearances and releases have IMO helped hugely in the increase in membership..
Not helping is arguably the worst stadium, its round with no cover, in a city that has poor weather.
Also NZFA if poorly funded and because of that arguably has less talent ... Way to early a call to replace them as they pay their way and provide TV ratings... Football recent growth rates in Australia in ratings, media etc needs to be matched in NZ .... Given AFC concerns of a NZ team and if they cannot keep up at some time into the future the question could be asked but not for a few years ... and our bro's across the ditch need some support to at least get an increased media exposure...

Obviously not enough because the wank threads about their development in New Zealand outweighs the questioning of their existence.

Adelaide + 507 Brisbane + 1000 Central Coast + 800 Heart + 1190 Newcastle + 500 Perth + 0 Sydney + 914 Victory + 1842 Wellington + 210 Western Sydney + 600 Overall + 7273 Some nice gains in there but one has to notice that Wellington's numbers stick out like a sore thumb. I'm not sounding any alarm bells yet, and I know they are going to be in the league for the next few years and hopefully longer. Although it is worth noting at the moment they are one of the teams that have been fighting the upward trend of the a-league since which has been well on the up since season 6. (The only other being Adelaide although they seem to be getting back on track) I genuinely do hope they can get their attendqnce back up to 11k like they used to, but they have now started to take games away from Wellington to other cities in NZ which has annoyied many Wellington fans which I have seen on here and twitter and I don't think it is wise to piss off your base. Taking games around the country also doesn't really give me confidence in their owner and his commitment to the club. Edited by tbitm: 9/9/2013 02:45:25 PM
