WTH Heart's Membership counter went from 6990, to 6989 - We haven't seen a member counter go backwards before?! :o Anyway, they are so close to the 7k milestone, new ground for the club. :o Hopefully Heart can really turn things around off and on the field, with these recent changes!

WSW at 16,700. From the clubs statement regarding the incident in Melbourne. Quote:"The club reaffirms its full support of its 16,700 members who continue to set a new benchmark for fan support in any sporting code in the country and will not let the actions of an absolute minority stand in the way of this recognition," the statement said.

Odd that the large membership jumps of about 20% havent corresponded to an equally large attendance jump.
part of it can be explained by the limits on wsw crowds and dissilusionment from nj and sfc fans :-k

It would be nice to see an update from the likes of Glory, Jets and Roar - I'm sure they have increased by a few hundred each since their last updates which were months ago now, but then it's back to reality:

Though honestly, the A-League collectively, pushing towards 95k members collectively, it's new ground for the league and fantastic. Infact it, combined with the higher crowds, are soo good that I'm wondering if next season can even meet these numbers? I hope there's still room for growth in all these numbers and that will be reflected in the coming seasons. If next season's A-League can see in excess of 85k members and pushing towards a 1.8M aggregate attendance again, then that would be exceptional, let alone 100k members and pushing 2M!

part of it can be explained by the limits on wsw crowds and dissilusionment from nj and sfc fans :-k I think it has in the minimum crowd category. Heart are absolutely woeful yet haven't dipped anywhere near their old low crowds less than 6k, we haven't dropped below 14.5k which considering we are rubbish to watch is great. Perth is a hard one to judge yet, but they seem to be doing better with the new ground even with an unfavorable draw at home so far. AU are building nicely as are BR. I think we're just seeing the cores forming and more of the old bandwagon 3-or-4-game-a-season fans turning up to 9 or 10 games and becoming members. This to me shows the comp is maturing and blossoming more than big sways in attendance. Edited by 4wanderer4: 8/1/2014 10:27:40 PM

Central Coast - 5,600 Heart - 7006 Absolutely disgraceful for a Championship winning side to have one of the lowest membership numbers in the league. Even Melbourne Heart, a team that hasn't won a game in recent memory have almost a quarter more than them. Even the dudliest team in the NRL, the Parramatta Eels, have over 10,000 members. CCM fans are a joke, no wonder there is talk of relocating the club to North Sydney.

No matter how people twist it the fact remains that ccm have the highest per capita attendance from their catchment area in the league.

It seriously devalues the product. A ticket has to cost at least $20-$25 a game. Nobody couldf complain about that.
Those prices are ridiculous and unsustainable.

Indeed and you guys are already in 'record territory' in terms of membership numbers and importantly your membership total is higher than atleast one of your minimum crowds this season! That's important - as it provides a greater safety net against those deep troughs when the crowd numbers may plummet as they have with under-performing Heart! But with a turn around, that solid base will only grow that bit more again and who knows how things may change at Heart, off aswell as on, the field - given all the recent speculation! So given a positive turn, this club could build that much further!

The surrounding areas of Newcastle, most notably the Hunter Valley, significantly contribute to memberships and attendance. Therefore Newcastle has a much larger catchment area than the Central Coast. I think CCM do pretty well considering the population and rugby league culture there.

Yeah T-Unit surely just trolling - Central Coast's catchment, even when extending to the northern fringes of Sydney metro (As they attempt to), still makes it the smallest market of all the A-League clubs, easily, followed by Greater Newcastle/Hunter and Wellington's metro and surrounding region.
But IF North Queensland Fury rejoin the league, then they will, once again, become the smallest market - with their wider region barely reaching 200k, at present. Though the growth is fast up there, amongst the fastest in Australia, so it will do, soon enough.
Mind you, in all this, the Mariners base size is still no excuse - they have their own measures, as all clubs do, and even within the Mariners own short history they have 'done better' - Infact in that 07/08 season, iirc, where they averaged close to 13k crowds on the back of some early A-League success! So the Mariners SHOULD know they still have 'room to grow' even within their own region - let alone getting itchy and seeking to move south! That was a counter productive move from Charlesworth indeed!
They will never be expected to have 13-14k crowd average in their medium term history, let alone shorter term and arguably 07/08 was an exceptional season. But averaging 10-12k is still reasonable, realistic, for them and something they should achieve. And infact that would still measure up well to many teams from much bigger markets - forget Newcastle - the likes of Heart, Wellington, Perth and even Adelaide too. Roar's average is slightly below it's capabilities too, though Roar have down well to lift crowds to where they are now. But still room to grow for them too, within their own A-League history - drawing season averages in the 16-17k mark in season's two and three!

Victory now at 22,021.
Slowly getting closer to that 23k goal. Probably won't make it this season with only 7 regular matches to go, but that's a pretty fine effort. I reckon they can smash that figure next year (unless some fans jump ship to Melbourne City). :P
