Ok everyone......the topic is simple....
If you really care about the environment, pollution and our footprint on the earth.
Do you REALLY live a life that reflects this...?????
what area's do you think you are doing the right things for the planet???
what area's do you think you or the population can improve to be less invasive????
please comment on the following
1/. food providence 2/. what you grow 3/. energy use 4/. how much recycling you can achieve 5/. transportation 6/. ??????? 7/. ?????
please also feel free to add any other elements that I may have missed
would be nice if you took it seriously ,but that could be asking a lot
cheers Batfink

I too recycle and whatnot. Take PT everywhere. But I'm highly nocturnal so having lights on all the time probably counteracts a lot of that.

I fart too much to be greenhouse aware . I take PT everywhere 'cos I'm only on my Ls. I recycle what's recycle. My local council gives us 2 recycle bins - 1 for plastic and glass the other for cardboard.

Electricity is 'green' off the grid. I pay an excess to the energy supplier for natural gas to be carbon offset. Recycle right down to the plastic neck ties on a loaf of bread. I pay Greenfleet yearly to carbon offset the rest of my life (car's petrol, food, clothing, waste, etc) http://www.greenfleet.com.au/PurchaseOffset/tabid/132/CatID/2/Individual.aspxhttp://www.epa.vic.gov.au/AGC/home.htmlI only plant locally indigenous plants on my own property.

Thanks, carbon tax! I'd laugh if this didn't reflect the attitudes of various people in the community.

I recycle, but that's about it. I'm too time-poor/have enough to worry about to be concerned about the environment at this stage of my life. I buy Coles brand bottled water for the convenience, but obviously I'd be saving the planet if I just re-filled a bottle each time. I imagine this is something I will be more concerned about as I get older.

We recycle at work and home a lot. we have solar panels at home. solar hot water at home. energy efficient pool pump under 100 watts to run. we grow a lot of our own herbs but don't have much luck with veggies. Have a rain tank. have a greywater tank. pool backwash tank. several small appropriately sized air conditioners that can be run seperately.
Only place I let the team down is with a dodge nitro but I drive it about 5000kms a year so I don't feel to bad.

We compost most of our food now that our ducks are gone. Have solar voltaic and thermal panels Grow lemons, avacadoes, various lettuces, spinaches, tomatoes, grapes, pumpkins, potatoes, bananas, mandarins, strawberries, mulberries. Midyemms and several other local native edible plants I don't remember the name of. Collect grey water in recycled council bins.
Nowhere near as green as my uncle was before he died. He lived off the grid, powered everything by solar including his tea business and the electric bicycle that he rode everywhere.

Nowhere near as green as my uncle was before he died. He lived off the grid, powered everything by solar including his tea business and the electric bicycle that he rode everywhere. hey that's great.....what are Midyemms????? we only have 2 connections with the outside world...electricity and communications we have all our own tank water and process all our sewerage on site via bio-septic.. we grow, pecan, protea, hazelnuts, macadamia , lemon, lime, mandarin, orange, grapefruit, tangerine, persimmon, cumquat, custard apple, garlic, potatoes, corn, shallots, beetroot, onion, Tumeric, lemongrass, galangalal, basil, corriander, thyme, oragano, pumkins, cabbage, lettuce, chilli's, kale, spinach and loads of other stuff....we also have our own chickens for eggs and we slaughter and eat our own freerange, chickens, ducks, geese, pigs & cattle....I make my own manure from the animals and make around 40 cubic metres a years that I use on my veggie gardens........we sell lts of our free range produce to locals and people who have allergies and shit like that.....my wife is an awesome gardener and breeds the chickens and all other poultry...she won the easter show this years with her meat birds.....lol...she was chuffed.....so was I....I run the Contracting business and breed the pigs and cattle and look after the big veggies that I can grow in Bulk...like the potatoes, corn, garlic, onions etc......I am really lucky to have a baby Kubota tractor so I can get all the jobs done.....it's a very busy and demanding lifestyle working 60-70 hours a week then carry on with all the chores...but I must say it is extremely rewarding....a lifestyle I guess.....perhaps a method of distressing from the Sydney rat race??!!??!!??! cheers Batfink....:d

The human race is always looking for answers, yet there is one question it does not want the answer to... But back to eggs... Doesn't free range just mean they spend time outside a cage? That could literally mean they open the cage door once per day

I must say we bought into the "no cage eggs" thing years ago and can't bring ourselves to change.
