our main rubbish bin is collected weekly but the recycle bin is fortnightly...is everyone's the same???
Edited by batfink: 8/7/2013 05:49:05 PM Yes mate general waste bin weekly recycle fortnight. I think most councils have the same collection cycle but one thing I have noticed over the years "bin" sizes are varied depending the council, I wonder how they come to that decision.

You actually believe that? Hey rusty. I followed up on that statistician who dismissed the right v left wing IQ research. I noted that he is heavily religious and is a signatory to the very unscientific Cornwall Alliance. http://www.cornwallalliance.org/Edited by ozboy: 9/7/2013 11:38:41 AM Where does it say he's heavily religious and a signatory to this peculiar alliance? Also being a signatory to something does not preclude some from having an expert opinion, especially when they possess a phd from a noted institution. I'm not sure what the fuck statistics and left/right wing ideology has to do with religion anyway, you're a strange one.

Because 1) religious belief is correlated with right wing ideology 2) there is a general belief in science that asks how can one lead a 'double life' by 'leaving one's religious belief at the laboratory door' and then go back to practicing religion outside the lab. It means one is compartmentalising their mind. The statistician is William Briggs and if you evaluate his various blog notes, he is died in the wool religious. His views on climate change are very unscientific and he is a signatory to the RELIGIOUS NUTJOB Cornwall Alliance, which denies the science of climate change, purely because 'God wouldn't allow it to happen'   He decided to a dumb thing and question the statistics to do with a particular paper on climate change, on another particular scientific blog site. Unfortunately for him, the author of the website is also a statistician, and well, Briggs had his arse handed to him and was made a fool of publicly. Needless to say Briggs hasn't gone back. It doesn't make much to join the dots and see that William Briggs is died in the wool right wing and religious and has a big agenda to push. I take his 'critique' of the IQ paper with a grain of salt. Edited by ozboy: 9/7/2013 07:20:06 PM

I take his 'critique' of the IQ paper with a grain of salt. Edited by ozboy: 9/7/2013 07:20:06 PM Just read this. OMG Ozboy, you have problems son. I am an atheist and am politically right wing. I don't need a religious leader telling me what and how to think and yet I have come to believe in conservative politics. How do you explain that? Meanwhile plenty of the lefties I've met treat their beliefs as quasi-religion - their socialism, communism, Islamophilia, anti-Americanism and anti-capitalism, global warming alarmism, anti-Israel...umm...ism and yes, their atheism. They treat all these as unshakeable dogmas and are unwilling to broaden their views. Ozboy, I don't know what kind of bad experiences you've had with members of the clergy but you can't let your irrational hatred of religion underpin your views on just about everything. It's unhealthy. What happened to live and let live?

I'm yet to see any evidence this Briggs character is leading a "double life", nor works anywhere near a laboratory. You're missing the point. Its about congruency of your mental constructs. Laboratory is metaphorical - it refers to practicing science in work hours, then practising religion which involves the absence of reason, outside work. rusty wrote:Quote:The statistician is William Briggs and if you evaluate his various blog notes, he is died in the wool religious. It constitutes a form of self-regulation by qualified members of a profession within the relevant field. Peer review methods are employed to maintain standards of quality, improve performance, and provide credibility. In academia peer review is often used to determine an academic paper's suitability for publication.
