Because Malaysian club owners wont expect 100+ year traditions of Cardiff, but the several month history of Melbourne Red is so, so much more worth taking seriously than that.

The traditional club, for purists.

Hard to think of any HAL club as an "Investment" tbh

Considering the chaotic nature of football in Malaysia, the low standard of the league, the poor administration, infrequent payments, etc., I'd love to hear what is considered good about "football people" from Malaysia.

Which is more Australian - a Malaysian consortium or an Australian club?

How can you have an NSL team come into the league when the NSL does not exist?

Doin' rather well in NSW Div 1 State League. Never forgotten, still among the most successful NSL clubs of all time.

FYI- BR was never an NSL club, thought you kids knew better.

FWIW the Jerks weren't technically a NSL club either. But they were one of the closest non-NSL-clubs to being a NSL club brought into the HAL, what with the same owner and all. Pretty sure FFA put a firm foot down and said Glory was the only team to be recognised as a former-NSL club though.

At the end of the day though - as much as the FFA rant & rave about no clubs being effnik-based, and no effnik-related stuff be brought into stadiums etc, the FFA will ineitably bow down to whoever has the money when they're in dire need or if can see a way of it benefitting themselves. Countless Jerks fans have been forbidden to bring Union Jack flags for Bridges, Swiss flags for Ritter, Italian flags for Vignaroli, into Hunter Stadium as well as away stadiums - but I genuinely lost count of the amount of Italian flags allowed into Allianz for the first Jerks v Sydney game this season.

Foreign investors won't be turned away by the FFA if they front up the money. I also don't think they will say no to SMFC coming in when the FFA see no other option, either.

They won their second title, but failed to lock their coach into a contract.

When he left they replaced him with the wrong man.

Not great FOOTBALL decisions. Which was my point.

As for stability - they've been in charge of Roar for 2 years and they've had 3 head coaches. They've had a pretty decent player turnover in the last 12 months too - something like 11 lads involved last season won't be there this season.

I've no problem with foreign owners, and wouldn't question their intent, I just find the initial post that these supposed Malaysian investors are FOOTBALL people. I doubt they have any better idea about football than the current owners of Heart.

Also, in the interest of fair play, I should point out the biggest plus the Indonesian Bakrie's have over the Malaysian investors... They exist.
