-PB Happy to call it a cyclone if you are. Plenty of wind, hammering rain, stormies all evening. It's doing more than 2-3 inches an hour with 160+ kph winds, that's like Cat 2-3 cyclone lol. It's even dumping hail and snow! -PB

Airport has been closed, all flights diverted to Melbourne/Brisbane. Plenty of flooding in and around Sydney, it's starting to come under my back door. Feel sorry for the poor SES out there tonight. Them and the NSW Fire & Rescue have their work cut out for them.

It's freaking crazy! The rain last night was the heaviest rain over ever seen (flooded the gutters in 40 seconds) and tonight has looked unreal too. Not as heavy but relentless over the last couple of hours.

Cooks River at Tempe has burst its banks. Apparently 60 people had to be rescued on a train near Kingsgrove. Airport/East Hills, South Coast and Bankstown train lines have all been closed due to flooding.

Somewhere under all this water, around 1.5m of water - is the East Hills Railway line. I take that to Uni tomorrow morning. Oh Lawdy. Edited by Heineken: 15/10/2014 12:15:07 AM

Be interesting to see how good Sydney's drainage is. I personally wouldn't bother trying to go to Uni Heiny lol. -PB

-PB Well, it's taken me 2 and a half hours, comparred to my normal 1.5  Train went through Bardwell Park fine. Either the drainage is fucking ridiculously good, or they got pumps out during the night. The drainage on the rail lines is generally pretty fucking good. However, this was Lewisham station during the night. Apparently they've pumped out the water, but the OPAL readers aren't working due to being flooded. And this is on the South Coast line I believe. The Day After tomorrow: Sydney Style. It's still extremely windy and there's still heavy showers about. Forecast is for more storms tonight, too.

Storms rolling through Sydney are packing a punch. Was at the bowlo trying to escape the heat with some refreshing schooners when the storm cell from Penrith rolled through. Still humid as fuck though. Just sitting down and I'm sweating. Love it though. Nothing like sinking beers at the pub on a stinking hot day watching the storms roll in. Gangajang couldn't have said it better when they sang: "Out on the patio we'd sit, And the humidity we'd breathe, We'd watch the lightning crack over canefields Laugh and think, this is Australia."
