Another one to add to the expenses column for whoever is lucky enough to win their respective NPL =d> http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/news-display/ffa-launches-inaugural-npl-2013-finals-series/72678Quote:The first ever National Premier Leagues (NPL) 2013 Finals Series will kick off on the weekend of 28/29 September with five federations battling it out for the title of the inaugural NPL 2013 Champion. Capital Football, Football NSW, Football Queensland, Football Federation South Australia and Football Federation Tasmania will all take part and play in a knockout finals series format next month to decide the competitions first ever national champion. The Premiers of each of the Member Federation’s respective NPL championships will qualify for a place in the NPL Finals Series (in 2013, the Grand Final winner from Football Federation South Australia will qualify). In 2013 there will be five participating federations playing off for the inaugural NPL Championship with a bye inserted in the schedule for the three currently non-participating federations. The NPL 2013 Finals Series schedule is as follows: Elimination Round - 28/29 September 2013 Game 1 Football Queensland vs BYE Game 2 Football NSW vs Capital Football Game 3 BYE vs Football Federation Tasmania Game 4 Football Federation South Australia vs BYE Semi Finals - 5/6 October 2013 Game 5 Football Queensland vs Winner of Game 2 Game 6 Football Federation Tasmania vs Football Federation South Australia Final - 12/13 October 2013 Game 7 Winner of Game 5 vs Winner of Game 6 *The team in the left column will host the match in their state With Football Federation Victoria, Football West and Northern NSW Football preparing to launch the NPL in 2014, they will join the five current NPL competitions and will compete in the knock-out finals series format. The elimination round structure was constructed by seeding teams in geographical order with the first named team set to host the fixture alternating each year to ensure that member federations are provided with an opportunity to host every second Finals Series. At the conclusion of the elimination round, the semi-final hosts were determined by the drawing of lots with the host of the final determined and awarded to the best performing team of the finals series via a points system listed below: Win within 90 minutes = 3 points Win during extra time = 2 points Win on penalties = 1 point Goals For (excluding penalty shootouts) = 3 points Goals Against (excluding penalty shootout) = -1 point Yellow Card = -1 point Red Card = -3 points As the state NPL competitions draw to an exciting close, further information will be released in the coming weeks when finalists are decided. The date, venue and kick-off times for all fixtures will be determined by FFA in consultation with participating member federations and announced via www.footballaustralia.com.au. To keep up to date with all the news in your local area visit your Member Federation websites for the latest NPL news and results.

Please note that for this year the SA representative will be the grand final winner.
Football NSW, Football QLD, Football TAS and capital Football representatives will be whoever finishes top at the end of the home and away rounds.
from next year with VIC, WA and NNSW joining it will be whoever finishes first past the post at the end of the home and away season will be the representatives.
I hope this is a sign from NPL that the state leagues will follow a traditional Football League structure and that the national playoffs replaces the state leagues own final series.

I doubt that they'll completely replace the final series in each state
Will the FFA reimburse any travel costs to these clubs?

Just saw this, so keen! Wish the GF had some TV coverage. Maybe once the last few federations come on board and there's 8 teams we might see something of this NPL "Champions League". -PB

-PB i hope either SBS or Foxsports could broadcast the final of the NPL at the very least live and yes a highlights package football mondial style would be good promoting our grassroots teams.

From FFA and FFSA it was a timing issue as to why they didn't go with the premier but it is only for this year. From next year it will be the premiers of each competition (expect partial model NT)

It would be nice to see the junior teams of the respective teams travel as part of this and have a real festival of football.
Europe is funding the war not Chelsea football club

Very exciting, the closest thing to a national 2nd Div that Australia's ever had.

They will still have their retrospective finals, but only the Premiers qualify for the National Finals. Maybe when the other feds get on board they might open it up to GF winners as well (and or runners up) as then it would make it a 16 team comp. But that's a lot of travel to consider. -PB

Fantastic news for our second division. Would be the greatest promotion for these clubs. I want it televised. How fantastic.

Also I don't understand why Northern Territory state league winners don't play off against Tasmania or ACT for a spot instead of direct entry.
