In Han Berger's keynote address, he showed a video of Australia playing Brazil. To the astonishment of the 180 or so attending the conference, he candidly highlighted the strengths of Brazilian players and the weaknesses of ours.
He was emphatic that it was difficult for Holger, or any other coach, to coach a team and perform to a high level in world football with the qualities the current Australian players have.
Even more amazing, certainly to me, many of the practical training ground exercises for all the coaches at the conference, were devised to coach and improve weaknesses identified in the Socceroos against Oman earlier this year. This is supposed to be our most elite team!
All the biggest names within the upper echelons of Australian FFA were there. Most of the big FFA names took training ground sessions. Han Berger's training ground sessions were outstanding with the Tassie NTC. A shame he leaves FFA next June. He will be a massive loss to Australian football.
