Your prediction in the Socceroos getting hammered 8-0 at the WC was closer than this.

Or if Sydney win it, do Hakoah get the credit? :-k

Although if Hakoah did win it, that's gotta be some form of world record. Longest time between consecutive back-to-back competition wins. 46 years.

People complain about the weather in Melbourne, but the way it rains at this time of year in Sydney and Brisbane makes you feel like it's not far off from cyclonic conditions.

We haven't had solid rain in a fair few months in Sydney. Tuesday night and again last night, I think made up for the last 4 months in a row.

A little thing for Heiny:

Owusu issues Sharks warning

Lloyd Owusu chases down a ball in torrential rain at Hensley Athletic Field.
Lloyd Owusu chases down a ball in torrential rain at Hensley Athletic Field.Thursday, 14 August 2014 - John Greco Comments
Hakoah Sydney City striker Lloyd Owusu has warned Queensland giants Palm Beach Sharks not to underestimate his bunch of Bondi battlers in next week’s Westfield FFA Cup tie.
A professional for more than 15 years, Owusu is now playing a leading role for the NSW third-tier club as they chase national glory.

One of the lowest-ranked sides still left in the FFA Cup, Hakoah host the runaway Queensland NPL leaders Palm Beach at Hensley Athletic Park on Tuesday night.

On a bumper final night of round of 32 action, three Hyundai A-League clubs will also be in action.

Champions Brisbane Roar travel to WA to face Stirling Lions, Bayswater City host Melbourne Victory and South Coast Wolves take on Central Coast Mariners.

But it will be just as intriguing at Eastgardens and Owusu declared the hot-favourite Sharks would be foolish to write-off his giant-killing team-mates.

“No disrespect but I heard a couple of people when they first got the draw, a few were saying on Facebook it will be an easy task for them with us being a third-tier team,” the former Adelaide United and Sheffield Wednesday striker told www.theffacup.com.au.

“We don’t mind that, let them do what they want to do. We’re probably the lowest seeded team with South Springvale who already qualified.

“At the end of the day the team that we’ve got – no disrespect to our league – but our team is much better than the league we’re in.

“We’ve got some really good players, ex-pros and some good young players in there so it’s going to be a tough game for Palm Beach.”

Owusu, who knows all about Cup runs during his long career in England, has been in superb form this season netting 16 times in all competitions.

The former Ghana international has been in contact with the likes of Ian Ferguson and a few others in Queensland to find out all he can about the Sharks, who boast former Gold Coast defender Kristian Rees in their ranks.

Palm Beach also have a red-hot striker in Christopher Lucas, who has 31 goals in just 20 matches this season.

But Owusu believes his side are primed for their shot in the Cup after watching intently over the first three weeks of the competition.

“The boys are buzzing. A lot of them have never played in a Cup competition to this extent,” Owusu said.

“A lot of the boys are looking forward to it and everyone is making sure they are in the starting XI.

“A few of the young boys have asked me what it’s like in that atmosphere of the FFA Cup and playing against better opposition. Whenever I can give some of my experiences that I’ve had in the past, hopefully they can take it on from there.

“It’s felt like its dragged on for such a long time, watching all the first round games but next week it’s our turn and we’ll be ready for the big game.”

Hakoah's Owusu: I've got nothing to prove

Ex-Adelaide United striker Lloyd Owusu says he’s got nothing to prove as he prepares to grace the main stage again with Hakoah Sydney City East against Palm Beach Sharks in the FFA Cup Round of 32 on Tuesday.
The 37-year-old one-time Ghana international only managed one goal during 18 months with Adelaide after joining the club billed as a top striker after a relatively successful career in England's lower tier leagues in June 2009.
Owusu’s time with the Reds was hampered after contracting swine flu and pneumonia upon his arrival, before parting ways by mutual consent in late 2010 and returning to the UK.
However, Owusu told FourFourTwo he had no regrets about his time in Adelaide and wouldn’t use Tuesday’s return to the spotlight to prove a point.
“I left Adelaide on great terms. It’s a great club and great people, but I’ve got nothing to prove,” Owusu said.
“How many players can say they’ve had a 15-year professional career? Not many and I’ve enjoyed every step of it.”
He added: “You look back, yes I should’ve come to Adelaide and done better, but I had swine flu and pneumonia as soon as I landed and it put me back massively.
“I never had a pre-season, I wasn’t even 100 per cent to be honest, I was probably 50 per cent when I made my debut.
“By then the structure of the team was totally different to what they wanted originally when they signed me.”
After leaving the Reds, Owusu spent time with Luton Town, Barnet and junior club Slough Town before returning to Adelaide having successfully applied for permanent residency during his previous stint in Australia. After a spell with White City in SA, he made his way to Hakoah earlier this year.
“I said to myself what do I want to do? Do I need to be chasing the English game for ‘x’ amount of pounds and peanuts, or what’s the next chapter?” Owusu said.
“We decided as a family at the time, that we’d had a great time in Adelaide and we came back. I started coaching and playing at semi-professional level and giving something back to the youth. I’m enjoying it.”
Owusu has scored 14 goals for Hakoah this season, helping his side recently clinch promotion from NSW State League 1 to NPL 2.
Hakoah previously played in the NSL from 1977 to 1986 as Eastern Suburbs and Sydney City and boast former players such as John Kosmina and Ray Baartz.
The club are one of the FFA Cup’s romance stories given their current third tier status but are ambitious about returning to former glories.
“It’s been massive, with the FFA Cup coming up, promotion to the NPL 2, so it’s only going forward for the club,” Owusu added.
Hakoah’s upcoming opponents, Palm Beach, are currently the league leaders in NPL Queensland.
However, Owusu, who carved out a solid career in England’s lower leagues with clubs as Brentford, Sheffield Wednesday, Reading and Yeovil, knows a thing or two about romantic cup upsets.
“I recall it was a dream come true, when as a 21-year-old first year professional I scored at White Hart Lane in the League Cup,” Owusu said.
“In my second stint at Brentford, when we were in the third tier, we also knocked off Sunderland 2-1 in the fourth round of the FA Cup. They were great times.”

I'll be there @ Hensley AF on Tuesday night with SydCro58. Will and try to get a photo with the big man. :d

And of course, I'll be singing my Lloyd Owusu song to Duck Sauce's Barbra Streisand.
