Would suck for all state league teams, not just that it is off season, but surely a couple players are likely to be moving clubs at this time of the year for next season thus maybe losing a bit of desire to keep training/playing.

Surely this is a good problem to have as opposed to no cup at all? Although its going to be worse in future years if the First 4 Rds of the Cup (Rd 32, Rd16, QF and Semis) are held later with the Cup Final being held on Australia day as mooted.

Of course it's better than no cup, I don't see a way around it either. The only way would be to shift NPL seasons.

Push the state leagues back 2 weeks and the same the AL 3 weeks earlier and voila...a month of lapsed time gone
