If they'd drawn another State League team, Lambert would probably be fine. Given there should be a decent crowd, Leichhardt Ovals bigger, the facilities are slightly bigger, it's a grass field (unlike Lambert which is artificial) and there's a hill.

I'd rather the game be played at Leichhardt Oval. If Wentworth Park can get it's act together quickly and perhaps get decent lights to illuminate the field rather than the greyhound track, I'd love the game to be played there too.

Yeah, mostly. For NRL matches there's things like Chicken Schnitzel rolls, Fish n Chips and stuff. I'm not sure who organizes the catering, if it's the club/event that rents the ground from the council, or the council itself.

Let's be realistic, using Leichhardt would be utterly overkill for a midweek cup game. Wests only fill it on a Sunday afternoon and even Su58 v SFC didn't get close to 10k. We would be bringing 100-200 at absolute max.

Lambert park and its 5k capacity would be more than adequate.

Were Nux in it last year ? I'm all for an NZ team in the A-league but should they play the FFA cup?,

Just to confirm, if you laid out all the league tables on top of each other, Balmain v Victory is the lowest ranked v the highest ranked in the whole comp. Pretty neat.

My tv matches would be

Darwin v AU (because it feels like the FFA will promote this)
Hume vs Strikers
Rockdale vs Perth (this is to include 4 states)
Balmain v MV (at Lambert with sun in the eyes for the first half)

I would skip all a-league games as there will be plenty in the future rounds and South Melbourne because if they win you cant show them every round. I would much rather wait until they get a home game.

I took this one a couple of years back during a W-League double header. Sitting on the hill watching any sport at Leichhardt is a fantastic way to spend a couple of hours.

Lambert Parks been done up a bit since AusStadiums took those photos (1990s?). They've got artificial turf now, and the place doesn't resemble a dump nowadays. A bit of fixing up on the Northern side of the ground (grandstand) wouldn't go amiss, but probably not necessary.

you'd be lucky to squeeze more than 3k into lambert park but still a more appropriate size venue.
its also had a massive facelift and looks a treat now.

should be some cracking games!

You're right. I'm not sure if Lambert Park has the lux. I know it's adequate for NPL NSW matches, but IIRC, don't matches with A-League teams require a different lux?

IIRC the trip from Adelaide to Darwin includes some non speed regulated roads. Some lucky muzzlets will be rather content with this draw.

It's an artificial turf field. They needed it badly. I remember being there a couple of times shortly before the redevelopment, and the ground literally looked like The Somme battlefield. Literally had craters in the middle of the field that could have come from artillery shells or mortars. :lol:
