EXCEPT the Foxsports requirement for lighting, we are at 300 lux or so and 500 is needed. Will cost 50k+ to get an upgrade, i dont know how they expect us to pull out numbers like that. Most of these clubs scrape by as it is, pretty hard to find that cash when your club volunteers/committees are made of tradesmen.
Is it 500 for an A-League team? If you manage to pull say the Wanderers, Sydney, or Victory, it shouldn't be too difficult to cover. Popping down to the local Kennards Hire should get you the extra lighting. The extra lighting option has already been looked at and cant be done, accessibility issues etc. It is 500 for us if we get an A-League team, foxsports requirements. Watched some games last ffa cup campaign and the lights werent top notch but game was still televised, so we will see.

Well, no matter who hosts the final this year, I just hope at least one person at FFA brings up the fact that sky-high ticket prices will have a backwards effect.
If this comp is to grow, the GF needs to be affordable.

The Sydney United vs Sydeny Olympic game was great. I was very impressed with Uskok and thand little number 9 for Olympic.
Edensor Park was ducking awful though. A ridiculous amount of seats missing.man absolute disgrace if they host a cup game in that condition.

Edited by eastern glory: 22/5/2016 06:53:16 PM Thats sad. Any chance they may renovate anytime soon? I'd highly doubt it. The last time Sydney United Sports Centre was 'sold out', or close to 'sold out' was their FFA Cup match vs Sydney FC. A very healthy crowd, and a wonderful evening, no doubts about that, but for a club that might pull a couple hundred to it's NPL games, the chances of the ground getting a make over are slim to none. At worst, the FFA might demand they fix the seating if they host an A-League club in the FFA Cup. That'd be a relatively simple and cheaper option than renovating the whole ground. As you can see from these match highlights - there are a lot of damaged and missing seats. I don't remember there being that many missing seats two years ago, so not sure if it's just SU58 NPL matches and people running amok, or if it's the club just removing old seats for the sake of removing old seats. Most ex NSL clubs facilities have fallen into disrepair because there is little incentive for them to rebuild. NPL doesn't attract enough people and FFA Cup games are not regular enough to justify anything other than temporary measures. Marconi had one of the best stadiums in the NSL and they recently chose to just tear down half the place than bother maintaining it. It's a genuine problem because what little infrastructure football does have is crumbling.

Edited by eastern glory: 22/5/2016 06:53:16 PM "Fucking awful" is a bit harsh. Those seats are now 15 years old and easily come off if theyre pushed. A couple of years ago a whole bunch of broken ones were removed and replaced. A whole bay was made into a terrace as well. There's very little incentive to replace hundreds of chairs that might get used once a season if you get into the Cup and get a favourable draw. Having said that, i have heard talk over the last year or two that a refurb is on the club's agenda. Just a question of when

Plastic seats in the sun weather over time, get dry/weak than crack and break. The seats are probably really old with old plastic.

Congratulations to Redlands United, who have qualified for their first ever FFA Cup finals!!! Redlands United defeated former Brisbane Premier League rivals Rochdale Rovers 2-1 to qualify for their first ever cup finals, becoming the first Queensland member confederation team of 2016 to do so. Redlands, located about 25kms south of Brisbane, on the shores of Morton Bay compete in the Queensland NPL 1, having secured a 5-year license in 2013. Redlands United, play their home games at Arthur & Allan Morris field located in the Cleveland Showgrounds which has a capacity of roughly 1,000 and has been rated one of the better playing surfaces in the NPLQM1. Despite this, it is likely due to lack of overall facilities, they will be forced to move their home games (should they be allocated the home team) to Brisbane or the Gold Coast, especially if drawn against an A-League club. Redlands United Road to the Cup Finals!Entered in the 5th Round of Queensland Qualifying1-2 vs Pine Rivers United (Brisbane Premier League Division 1) 0-1 vs Brisbane United (National Premier Leagues Queensland 1) 2-1 vs Rochdale Rovers (Brisbane Premier League) The remaining 3 spots for Queensland member federation clubs, will be played over this, and next weekend. 5/6/16: Queensland Lions v Brisbane Strikers 11/6/16: Surfers Paradise Apollo v Sunshine Coast Fire 11/6/16: Far North Queensland Heat v Frenchville This Sunday sees 2 former FFA Cup finals qualifers in Queensland Lions and Brisbane Strikers go head to head. Brisbane Strikers competed in the inaugural FFA Cup, whilst Queensland Lions saw action in last years competition. Queensland will have two more FFA Cup debutants in the cup this year.

Redlands pitch rated "one of the better playing surfaces"?
Geez there wouldn't be too many better. It's like playing on carpet or a lawn bowls club.
Just magic.

The RUFC lettering isn't the best. Would probably look better if they had a pitchfork and a football instead. Although I'm not overly fond of uneven, oddly sized letters anyway:

They also played last year too, so if they qualify tomorrow, it'll be their 3rd time in the Cup (Blacktown and Sydney United have qualified 3 times too).
