No idea what happened but I think I can make a prediction. I used to play with Brodie at Richmond and after a game once Brodie got upset and didn't shake the other teams hands. Some dad from the other team called him a brat (he was) and Toby Zidane style head-butted him.
So they were kicked out of the club after that, maybe not so ironically they played Richmond where the above occurred. Perhaps some of the people at Richmond were getting under his skin for that?
Really sad to see he hasn't really changed cause although he was a bit of a twat back then, he never passed, never really got along with anyone but the kid was brilliant. Could take on anyone and scored constantly from 30 yards out

The Courier Sport wrote:Full-time: Red Devils hold on for a 2-0 win in an encounter that lasted 30 minutes. Out of the relegation zone now. #BRDvPV #NPLVIC So now it's: Ballarat RD -9gd 27pts Port Melbourne -14gd 27pts - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Werribee City -21gd 27pts GVS already #gone. So the only way Ballarat can go down (even with a four goal defeat to Oakleigh) is if Werribee and Port draw, although they'd be idiots to sit back for the draw because they would both be in serious danger if Ballarat got a point against Miron's lads who may well be in wind down mode. I'll be at Oakleigh next week, hitting refresh on the futbol24 app on the other game like crazy!

Edited by tbitm: 10/9/2014 06:51:24 PM Sounds about right. Dad is obviously a good influence. Quote:ST ALBANS Saints have sacked coach Toby Paterson and his midfielder son, Brodie, less than a fortnight out from the club’s Football Federation Australia Cup Round of 16 clash with Perth Glory.
The decision comes after the club’s National Premier League 1 Round 23 clash with Richmond, where the pair got into an alternation with a Richmond player.
In the incident, the Richmond player allegedly threatened to hurt Brodie after the game.
St Albans president Robert Colina said things got ugly when Toby Paterson got involved.
“It was a run-in between one of the Richmond players, who said he would do something to Brodie,” Colina said.
“Toby, being Brodie’s dad, didn’t like what was said. There was a push and shove.”
Colina said despite no-one being injured in the altercation, both Patersons overstepped the club’s Code of Behaviour.
“Toby had a bit of a brain snap, and conducted himself in a way we didn’t like,” Colina said.
“We don’t tolerate that, from spectators or supporters, or players and coaches.”
Assistant coach Steve Laurie, who wasn’t involved in the incident, has also parted ways with the club, leaving captain Ryan McGuffie to manage the side for the remainder of the season.
“It was a very hard decision. Obviously we’ve had a really good season,” Colina said.
“But the club comes first. At the end of the day, we have to look at the club’s best interests.”
Colina said the club has had a poor history off the field, but was working to change that perception.
“We’ve cleaned that up in the last three years, and this is part of maintaining that clean image,” he said.
“There’s no room for that.”
The club sits third in NPL1, six points behind second-placed North Geelong with three rounds to go, in its chase for promotion.
The Saints host Perth Glory on September 23 in their FFA Cup Round of 16 clash, the club’s biggest game in its history to date.
The Leader has attempted to make contact with Toby Paterson. Sausage.

Yes! Feared the worst when Oakleigh scored against Ballarat, but now Werribee have scored to make it 1-0 against Port Melbourne in the 73rd minute. Even with a loss, any result bar a draw between Werribee and Port (with a Ballarat loss) will guarantee Ballarat's safety.
15 minutes to go...

All over, Ballarat are relegated by the slimmest of margins at the last possible minute.
Can't say they didn't put up a fight.

Hard luck to Ballarat, gave themselves a fighting chance at the end of the season, just didn't get there. North Geelong promoted to keep the regional interest up - will be interesting to see how they cope next season. South end the season in top form prior to the national playoffs - dropping GVS 4-1 up in Shepparton.

In a state of denial right now.
4 new sides are joining the NPL next season right? South Coast FC, Nunawading City, Murray United and someone else (maybe Gippsland?). Perhaps a 3 up 1 down situation to keep both divisions at 16 sides.

Congratulations also to Milos Lujic for running away with the Golden Boot with 22 goals, which also equals the club record for South Melbourne.
I'd be shocked if he didn't have some involvement in the coming A-League season, or beyond.

Even when he was playing for the AIS in the VPL when he was 17-18 he was a quality player and it always suprised us why clubs would look for shit men from Europe/Sth America who do something once every 3-4 games and not take a chance on a quality youngster plus adding they would be a cheaper and with possible future transfer value

Injured his back and took a fair while to get fit again - I think his confidence took a knock as a result, it's only the last two years that he's started to grow into his talent. Give him the service and he's very good - quite surprised he doesn't appear to have had a chance this year.

So - in review - the two teams parachuted into the top division by the FFV, the sides that didn't earn their place on the pitch, were ultimately relegated (as predicted), even if Ballarat did take it right to a photo-finish... Perhaps a little more notice of the competition structure would have given them a better chance, or perhaps they should have been drafted into NPL1, with the NPL itself being the top sides in the state rather than the top sides plus a couple of country cousins...

Murray United FC wrote: HUGE NEWS: We are thrilled to announce that the inaugural head coach of Murray United F.C. will be Englishman & local star, Matt Gray! Matt has had an extensive playing and coaching career dating back to his time spent in the Chelsea & Fulham academy's. After an extensive selection process, Murray United FC is excited to announce the appointment of MATT GRAY to the position of Head Senior Coach for our inaugural NPL season in 2015. Matt has had an extensive playing career coming through the Chelsea and Fulham academies where he played under some coaches who he learnt a great deal from early on. As a player in the non-league game in England for clubs such as Sutton United, Havant, Waterlooville and Kingstonian, he played under many successful coaches. Matt played as a professional for Woking football club where his coach was Frank Gray (ex Leeds United and Scotland international) who won the European cup and played at a World Cup. “Frank was fantastic to learn from, his training regimes, his professionalism, people management skills and most of all his training techniques.” Since arriving in Australia Matt has been a senior player coach for two years with Cobram Victory, taking them to a premiership win in his second year. In 2013, Matt was senior player coach at Shepparton SC, taking a very young squad to second place in the league and runners up in the grand final. Again this year as senior player coach of Twin City Wanderers, Matt lead the team to a 10 point clear league champion win and runners up in the grand final. Matt’s sees coaching as his future in football and will take on the role as dedicated coach of MUFC. His coaching philosophy is built around youth development and involving youngsters as soon as they are ready for the senior environment, developing them into strong and confident senior footballers. Matt prides himself on getting the best out of players. He has seen an abundance of talent since being in the Albury Wodonga region and feels his insight to the league’s talent will be a huge benefit. “I believe from this league a tremendous team which can achieve things can be put together and I would work very closely with the u20s coach in integrating players that are progressing at that level into the senior setup.” Murray United FC is very excited by the appointment and thrilled to have a person of Matt’s quality and experience at our club at a very important time in our regions football history. On behalf of the board, we welcome Matt to Murray United FC and wish him all the very best for season 2015. It's honestly starting to get a little ridiculous at this point with all the regional teams in the NPL1. At what point will an aspiring Melbourne based player rather play in SL1 if they don't make an NPL team instead of traveling around the state in NPL1?
They should play in the ACT where it would be more their standard anyway

Congrats to NPL coach of the season - Chris Taylor, of SMFC of course.
Congrats to NPL Gold Medal winner, also NPL Golden Boot winner, also NPL Player's Player of the Year winner, Milos Lujic (also SMFC, naturally). I understand Milos may miss the start of next season due to a back injury caused by having to lift so many awards in one evening.
