apparently david williams is strong passer and strong in defence which gives him the best overall rating. I must admit I'm surprised I haven't watched much of williams this year so he has slipped under the radar for me

Interesting. Can you compare Ruben Zadkovich to a host of other midfielders for me?
Also Kew Jaliens to any other defender import?

Also Kew Jaliens to any other defender import? hi there here is zadkovich compared to brattan burns milligan and isaias i think from this you could say that brattan would probably be a standard in the spanish second division http://www.squawka.com/comparison-matrix#a-league/2013/2014/luke_brattan/94/94/11104/0/p|a-league/2013/2014/ruben_zadkovich/94/94/11199/0/p|a-league/2013/2014/jacob_burns/94/94/11224/0/p|a-league/2013/2014/isa%C3%ADas/94/94/11077/0/p|a-league/2013/2014/mark_milligan/94/94/11167/0/p#total_score/attack_score/defence_score/possession_score/pass_completion/key_passes/shot_accuracy/chances_created/total_duels_%/tackles_won/interceptions#90

comparing rogic with some other technical players in the league rogic compares very favourably in his "disappointing return". The fact that his return has been disappointing at times shows just how darn good he is at his best Del piero v rogic v ono v carrusca v broich http://www.squawka.com/comparison-matrix#a-league/2013/2014/tomas_rogic/94/94/9302/0/p|a-league/2013/2014/alessandro_del_piero/94/94/11260/0/p|a-league/2013/2014/thomas_broich/94/94/11105/0/p|a-league/2013/2014/marcelo_carrusca/94/94/11078/0/p|a-league/2013/2014/shinji_ono/94/94/11314/0/p#total_score/attack_score/defence_score/possession_score/pass_completion/key_passes/shot_accuracy/chances_created/total_duels_%/successful_take_ons/successful_take_ons_%#90

Good stuff, Grazor. =d>
When comparing Brattan with Milligan, one needs to compare the players around them.
At this point in time a cogent argument can be made that Brattan, surrounded by back four Franjic (he plays RB), North , Smith and Stefanutto, and a midfield of McKay, Broich and Miller, has more experience, and possibly more talent, than Milligan's team-mates.
This can effect a player's stats.
Milligan is currently close to the best Socceroo, based on recent performances with the national team. This is not to say he is a particularly good player, probably a reasonable player on the world stage, who is one of the best we currently have. He may not be a good player compared to many of our opponents.
Spira struggled for J League time and Millsy played J League 2. This may demonstrate how far Japan is in front of us. It may also prove some of our players play better football in different circumstances - at home.

Brattan plays as a solo holding midfielder doing ALL of the defensive work, Milligan plays alongside Broxham who has not to dissimilar stats to Brattan defensively whilst always playing as part of a two. zzz. Just look at Australia's last match to see how Milligan> any other Australian DM.

Also important to note I'm talking purely about Socceroos performances here, not club. Ange will have all of these stats and he must have a clear reason as to why Brattan isn't in the Socceroos squad. I trust Ange, not stats that are dependant on an extreme number of variables. So we're playing that card now, at the start of the season almost every MV fan was chest beating about having the best squad in the league.

well surely milligans superiority would then show up in his defensive stats if he has a weaker team No doubt milligan has done well for the roos but we won't know until brattan plays if club form would translate to international form. These stats would suggest that brattan is superior in just about every way (except blocked shots and aerial duels which arent too important against the opponents we usually face) also milligan gets dribbled around a lot for the national team. One thing I have noticed is that defensive players in european clubs get dribbled around the least often in the top clubs compared to weaker clubs (i.e. this seems to be a key stat) Milligan is an excellent player no doubt but its definitely food for thought just how well brattan is doing that he even outshades isaias who I rate as one of the best imports the a league has ever seen and was a strong player in the spanish second division before he came here iirc

for those making teams I like ---------galekovic------------- -franjic-malik-spira-zullo- -----------brattan------------ ---------mooy/antonis/mckay*--rogic------- -williams--juric---troisi*/taggart
*first choice
This team is significantly better than the east asian cup squad from last year imo which is a sign of how much the league has improved. Every player listed has an argument to go to brazil as well as many other players not listed.
