As I have implied before right wingers, on average, utilise less evidenced based sources than left wingers for their information and viewpoints. Why? Peer reviewed research suggests lower IQ in childhood leads to greater prejudice and socially conservative views in adulthood.
I will bet that at least 80% of the people who reference the global warming denying blog site What's Up With That are conservative voters. And remember, it's just a blog.

Shrinking Alaskan village of Kivalina leaves locals fearing destiny as America's first climate change refugees

As world leaders gather in Paris for the UN Climate Change Conference, Janet Mitchell in the United States will be worrying about how to feed her family during the winter.

The Inupiat Eskimo community where she lives in western Alaska relies on hunting seals in the warmer months and drying their meat for the winter.

"My own family, we need about 14 bearded seals," she said.

But this past summer hunting became impossible.

"Our hunters couldn't leave the island as it was jam packed with broken ice," she said.

The tiny barrier island where Ms Mitchell lives is called Kivalina. About 120 kilometres from the Arctic Circle, it is one of the most remote places in America.

Destined to become the country's first climate change refugees, Kivalina's residents have watched their island shrink before their eyes in recent decades.

Sea ice that would usually protect the island from storm surges has been disappearing, causing waves to gradually eat away chunks of the coastline.

"This year we lost, I believe, about 12 feet by the runway," Ms Mitchell, who is also the city administrator, said.

Temperatures in the Arctic are, on average, rising faster than anywhere else in the world, and there is widespread agreement among scientists that places like Kivalina will soon cease to exist.

When president Barack Obama flew over Kivalina in Air Force One earlier this year, he saw firsthand how precarious its existence was.

"Waves sweep across the island at times," Mr Obama said during a speech at a nearby community.

"For many of those Alaskans, it's no longer a question of if they're going to relocate, but when."

Residents say that concern is yet to produce any useful help.

The community decided more than a decade ago it would have to relocate. A study by the US Army Corp Engineers in 2006 identified six possible sites on the mainland not far from the island.

But authorities are yet to find the up to $US400 million needed to move the entire town.

"There is a lot of opposition from everybody," Ms Mitchell said.

"We have heard people say, who wants to spend $US400 million on 400 people?"

Perhaps the further along the IQ bell curve you go you'll find there is less tendency to lump all conservatives and right wingers in with redneck ideology. Most progressive types aren't intelligent enough to be aware of their own prejudices and biases though, hence why they adopt stereotypes such as "right wingers and conservatives are inherently stupid" to provide simple explanations to complex issues.

Also most rednecks and bigoted right wing racists don't have any interest in global warming or environmental/scientific issues generally, let alone know what CO2 stands for. Most right wingers and conservatives are accepting of global warming, yet skeptical of how it is being manipulated by the UN, governments and environmentalist groups to achieve political, economic and social change.

Incorrect. Latest polling shows that approximately 75% of right wing voting Australians (National Party, Liberal Party, One Nation, etc, etc) do not believe in anthropogenic global warming. I posted it earlier in this thread.

As for a correlation between IQ & ideology, a study hinted at it - a study of the 2001 British elections found that Greens Party voters (extreme left wing leaning) had the highest average IQ, while British National Party voters (extreme right wing leaning) had the lowest average IQ. Other parties filled in the gaps along the ideological 'scale'. Conservative & Labor party voters were about the same (no statistical difference). A specific 'scale' study into the link would be interesting, rather than just left v right which has already been done.

Are you referring to the CSIRO study? Respondents are only given two positions to choose, that climate change is mostly caused by humans or that its nature causing it. People will choose the answer that most closely aligns with their beliefs, that for conservatives is nature but that's not to rule out that some anthropogenic global warming does happen. A recent study of American republicans show that over 50% believe climate change is happening with some influence from humans.

Anyway it's a non sequitur to suggest smarter people gravitate to human driven global warming because they are smarter and have a better understanding of the facts. Most people left and right are unqualified to have an informed opinion on this highly complex issue and as the study also captures most people choose their position based on deep seated world views rather than information.

In regards to IQ and ideology it's worth pointing out that in aggregate terms more intelligent people vote conservative and Labour than Greens. I could form a right wing party and admit only folks with an IQ 130+ plus and then claim that a correlation between IQ and political persuasion. It doesn't matter where you look, expect for perhaps the ABC, green voters are always in the minority. What's more revealing is conservative UK voters are on average more intelligent than Labour voters, nobody on the left would expect that.:d

I didn't refer to just global warming, I repeat, I referred to anthropogenic global warming. Approx 75% of right wing voting Australians do not accept anthropogenic global warming. The science clearly states that all the warming since 1950 is anthropogenic in source, not natural. In fact, IIRC, the warming is 120% approx from anthropogenic sources, because the natural sources are actually having a cooling effect.
As for non-sequitur, I believe you have misapplied this fallacy. One can at least draw connections between concepts. That's how hypotheses get tested. In fact , based on the existing research & polling, it would be quite easy to write a literature review to justify investigating the link between intelligence (as measured by IQ testing) and position on anthropogenic global warming science.
As for the results of the British study, the difference of Conservative v Labor results were not statistically significant, which is not surprising as their positions on the ideological scale are so similar. When you get disparate ideological differences, eg Greens v British National Parties, that's when the statistically significant differences show up.

This reminds me of right wingers labelling the ABC a lefty media organisation, primarily because they are, on average, more evidenced based in their reporting

You're problem is you're conflating IQ with political party affiliation rather than raw ideology. There's numerous reasons why the greens might be the most "clever" party on average none of which have anything to do with their ideology being inherently more superior. For example, green issues like the environment, education and science are more likely to be preached on a university campus than say a building site, where they have an opportunity to convert more "academically inclined" followers. It might simply be campaign funds being directed into areas where there are a disproportionately higher number of higher intelligent people, such as science, education and research institutions, or perhaps certain inner city areas with higher gross income and professionally qualified residents. Or it might just be that more average and low intelligent voters are more likely to vote for the mainstream parties because they are not intimately concerned or involved in policy conversations. So as you can see there's plenty of explanations why green voters on average might be more "intelligent" but they are more likely due to social and economic factors rather than biological.

South Australia is now experiencing the devastating reality of climate change. Stay safe folks.

Climate change at work' as Adelaide swelters through another hot night
Updated Thu at 2:30pm

PHOTO: The beach is a sanctuary for some as Adelaide faces an unseasonable heatwave. (AAP: Rob Hutchison)

RELATED STORY: Mercury hits 41C in Adelaide, with no relief until weekend

Adelaide's ongoing severe heatwave is a first for this time of year and the "sort of signal you will see with climate change", a Bureau of Meteorology head says.

South Australia acting regional director John Nairn said Adelaide had never experienced a sequence of four 40 degree Celsius days during December.

The city sweltered through another hot night last night, with the mercury dropping to only 25C by about 6:30am.

Temperatures peaked in the city at 41C on Wednesday, with maximums forecast to be above 40C for the next three days.

Today's maximum is forecast at 42C with minimum temperatures predicted to fall to 26C overnight.

"It is an unusual event," Mr Nairn said.

"These are the sorts of signals you will see with climate change where we see the very high temperatures spread out from where they normally used to be.

Adelaide forecast:

Thursday - Very hot and sunny, 42C
Friday - Very hot and mostly sunny, 41C
Saturday - Very hot, possible late shower, 42C
"Unfortunately, this is one of the signs."

Three districts are in total fire ban today; the Mount Lofty Ranges, Lower South-East and North-West Pastoral.

Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens will be closed to the public due to the severe fire danger rating.

The SA Ambulance Service said it would put on extra resources over the weekend to help paramedics cope with the demand created by heat-related illnesses.

Paramedic Graeme Rayson said that while there had not been many extra calls so far, Friday was likely to result in more calls for help as the heatwave continued.

"Day three, we expect that things will start to heat up, as far as our workload," he said.

"We've got our pushbikes out and about on the weekend ... no doubt there will be a lot of Christmas parties and a lot of things happening in the city."

Mr Rayson said paramedics were well prepared to return from leave and come in on days off if conditions demanded even more resources.

Be prepared for the heat

Heatwaves kill far more people than other natural disasters. Adequate preparation is essential, especially for people at high risk such as the elderly and young children. ABC Emergency has a checklist of things you can do to be ready.
SA Health chief medical officer Paddy Philips said simple acts could save lives.

"Remember to check on your elderly friends, relatives and neighbours, because they can be particularly vulnerable, especially if they have any sort of cognitive impairment," he said.

"Back in 2009, it was terrible, but we did see some people who switched their air conditioners on, but they weren't switched to cool."

Mr Nairn said the high minimum temperatures made it "particularly dangerous" for those who were vulnerable.

"There is not much chance to actually get relief from the heat," he said.

"As we go through consecutive days of 40 and above, it just gets hotter at night.

"It can be impossible to sleep unless you have that very expensive air conditioner on."

Mr Nairn said a change was expected to move through the state on Saturday night through to Sunday, with maximum temperatures forecast at 30C on Sunday along with a possible shower.

He said it would still be "uncomfortable" on Sunday as heat in the environment dissipated.

Winds are also expected to increase on Saturday ahead of the change, posing a higher risk of a bushfire causing damage.

It's actually forecast 44 in Adelaide today.
It's just hit 45.1 at Avalon, on the outskirts of Melbourne.

Well I don't know if this is the real ricey but if it is, do we need any more evidence that he's a sad teenage boy?

so a thought to ponder while the same brilliant minds ( who gave us YK2 the world will stop and go back to zero and put everyone into panic ) has they ever considered that surface of the earth is cooling down when you take into account that the earth was a molten ball when born it has continued to cool and eventually the core will solidify cause as we know we dont have perpetual energy so it will cool . ah then what maybe then our future generation may have something to worry about .
but i suppose when they make first contact we will get the answers :-"

The fact that you:
1. are getting involved in this
2. seem to have picked a horse in this race (don't bother arguing this point even if you claim you haven't point 1 is enough)
is very telling.

Off you go kiddo, write your insincere posts to someone that likes to post shit too.
