Well done Brisbane fans that's a massive effort!
Surely the salary cap can be increased next season due to the member growth this season?

Wanderers new membership site now has a counter, so will be a lot easier to keep up with the number of memberships now.

Happy for City and football in Melbourne in general now that they're a force off field. We needed that in this city, as it's great for the code and our rivalry. But talk about deluded! Victory have got over 20k members consistently, and that's without any 10 game fly-ins or publicity stunts! We've now got a 10 year history, 2 titles and many great highlights, all this won't be washed away just because Lampard, Villa and co waltz into town, most of those for just 10 games, with only 5 or 6 of them at home! We've carried this league in terms of crowds, memberships and interest for years, until the Wanderers came in, and Sydney got their act together and signed ADP! I don't think they're just gonna fly away now. Sure there may be a small minority of fans that go across, but I reckon that'll be max 10%-15% if that. Even then we should still crack 20k members. If City gets even close to 15k members I'll be very surprised! I think a target of 12k is very realistic, a good number if reached, which it should be with all the investment being put in by the new owners.

guys... guys. Do you honestly believe a eurosnob who has heard of Frank Lampard and Villa is going to buy a season membership? :-s How can melb city fans even suggest this? when they know that you need to get the loyal fan base turning up first and they aren't that happy at the moment remember considering where mcfc finished last season... and then you can start worrying about the bandwagoners who will turn up for the first few games.

Maybe thepeople signing on aren't eurosnobs, maybe they were just part time fans that now would have a reason to commit more. We've had over 12k different members in our previous 4 seasons so its likely some will jump back on. grazorblade wrote:Joffa wrote:2014/15

Jets counter says 2528 this morning. Where did the 200 pet memberships included in figures get confirmed?

Edited by tbitm: 18/7/2014 08:29:51 AM Yeah I don't know what the worry is. Sydney were at 3,000 at the same point last season... They still have a marquee to come and are already ahead by about 25% In terms of others , you can't just compare dates because it's pretty obvious that release dates for memberships are changing year to year. Victory aren't too far behind this point last year either and ended up with over 20k. If lampard signs it will increase interest in the league and not just melbourne city.,, yes they will get some who jump ship but victory might get more neutrals join them plus old supporters who haven't been members for a few seasons might get back into it. Regardless, melbourne city, sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane all seem to be ahead of last season. And I think the general feel is that memberships have been delayed due to the World Cup.... So 5/10 growth at the same time point does seem good. We will see though... Edited by Tambo: 18/7/2014 08:47:11 AM

On the City hype - yeah, we can see most Heart Fans themselves are fairly circumspect, realistic/conservative as to just how much of an impact these headline signings, current and prospective, would have on the club - especially substantively, beyond the short-term.
tbitm is onto something - indeed I presumed that too. These 5k or so fans aren't just out of thin air guys - Most of them are more than likely some form of 'existing Heart fan' who's just either committed earlier or more substantively. We saw how even Aloisi era that they had a steady core of 6-8k fans and that was when the club was struggling for results! Heart have pushed a 10k average in the past too and indeed have been around a number of seasons now. This all makes it that bit much more easier for the new ownership infact, with the existing club and it's support base, which it can build on. That seems to be the case at the moment.
Again, if they start pushing past 7-8k members, then we can get a bit more excited? :-k
Other reasons why some of us sense that it may not be 'quite' the 'band-wagon' phenom, yet, is that it's a long way from A-League season start and we had a World Cup just completed. So there hasn't been much of a spotlight on the A-League, with we thick on the middle of the Winter code seasons and Euro-snobs tuned into WC action. Though with the latter the A-League ads on SBS during WC time may well have helped to some degree - I'm sure!
