Tambo wrote:MrBrisbane i asked on twitter after their crest launch... no response. Also asked about 2 weeks ago, no response. Guys, there is more than one avenue on social media - I think we Glory fans found that out last year. The official channels etc... were hopeless, but when the new CEO, Jason Brewer, was announced, some of us discovered his Twitter feed and one promptly asked him the member numbers, which, pleasant surprise, he promptly responded to, with a number! If the 'official club channel' isn't any good, then try some of the important individuals, some for who it's part of their job to communicate messaging to fans? Glory has just appointed a new Media and Marketing Manager for instance - 'perhaps' Glory's messaging and communication with fans may improve finally? Or if not, his Twitter was shared when they announced it! Roar have their Managing Director/CEO too who's on Social Media I think, I'm sure Mariners, AU, Phoenix and co have their equivalents too. They may be no more or no less effective than the official pages, but worth a try and some, like Brewer, may even be happy to hear/respond? :-k Edited by GloryPerth: 23/8/2014 07:08:46 PM

Back to actual A-League matters, I'm told Victory are well over 16k now and pushing towards 17k. Really good response with so much time still left until the season starts.

Re: Mr Brisbane, Tambo, Midfielder, Davo1985 and co - Here is what I could find, in terms of, Brisbane Roar General Manager, Sean Dobson: https://www.facebook.com/dobson.sean?fref=ts - Not sure if this just his 'personal' account, but none-the-less it's clearly him? Brisbane Roar Marketing Manager, Kurt Brutton: https://twitter.com/mr_bruttonAnd via he, in seeking to confirm he actually IS a Brisbane Roar employee - I saw this post, confirming some of his 'Media team' co-horts at Roar, Quote:https://twitter.com/mr_brutton/status/256595736697905152Kurt Brutton @mr_brutton #ff Two of the @brisbaneroar 's finest media people @DanMLato and @MichelleTobin88 Reply Retweet Favourite Retweets 2 Peter Brown Neil Lawlor 8:22 pm - 11 Oct 2012 Dan Lato @DanMLato 11 Oct 2012 @mr_brutton @brisbaneroar @MichelleTobin88 Nawwww, making me blush...wait...we're the ONLY two!! ;) Brisbane Roar 'Media person', Dan Lato: https://twitter.com/DanMLatoSo guys, NO EXCUSES, here are there contacts - for any keen on getting some info, or just an update on when there WILL be info - these could be the people to contact. I especially recommend the Twitter links - they'd be both more professionally appropriate and perhaps likely to respond. ALL those folks will be involved in the area to know of the memberships and the member numbers - some of them probably even handle this on some level or another - heck, one of them may be behind the 'running' of the Roar Twitter feed, Facebook or what not - so they're the ones to post when there IS a milestone reached etc... So as we Glory fans tried with our CEO Brewer last season, I guess you guys can too, if you're impatient? FTR Roar have ben pretty good this pre-season, so I guess we can wait a bit longer? :-k I guess we could find the 'professional' Social Media contacts for the appropriate Phoenix personnel too? Edit: Boy, no wonder communication soo hard - finding them like needle in haystack if at all? They're supposed to be the club's marketing and media guys, but instead of front and centre of fan and media communications in this modern digital age... well, I suppose Phoenix fans can just best just to as how good a job the club does in this area? Phoenix Head of Marketing, Kyla Lange: https://www.facebook.com/kylajayne.lange (Again, like Dobson, this seems her personal account, so best to seek other/twitter sources first?) Phoenix General Manager, David Dome: https://www.facebook.com/domestar (Again, it's FB and seems to be a personal account, rather than professional one - so tread carefully) Stuck - no Twitter accounts, as far as I could find, so the Phoenix staff of relevance. Just the Phoenix Twitter itself and for those who have Twitter and want to ask them, here it is: https://twitter.com/WgtnPhoenixFCI swear, I guess we're just 'lucky' that these media managers and co at these clubs have Twitter accounts etc... for we to access them, rather than fan access to them (Via professional accounts) being an almost pre-requisite? Clearly some clubs better than others - Glory's CEO Jason Brewer is quite active and prominent in terms of his Glory promotion, re-tweets and interaction with Glory Twitter links and too that of players and fans even! Collingwood and some others would have more. IIRC The likes of WC Eagles, Adelaide Crows and some others have/had those kinds of figures. The smallest AFL clubs have 20k or so, like North Melbourne, Sydney Swans, Brisbane Lions, perhaps Dockers and co - but I'm going off old data, memory - so they may be a 'bit bigger now' too, especially if, again, 'Pet Memberships' are included. :p AFL has a culture of memberships that not only pre-dates everybody, but it's that culture which now permeates and influences the growing culture of memberships with rival codes, including the A-League here. The 'Northern States' cottoned on finally, both in the Rugby codes, as too the A-League teams. And we see that reflecting in the much stronger numbers for SFC, Roar, Jets and co, recent seasons. An AFL membership doesn't mean you have a season ticket. Three game memberships are counted, among many other stupid things. Their figures are very misleading. Hawthorn have over 60,000 members but struggle to pull 30k against a non-Victorian club.

You can also get an AFL league membership where you can go to 40 games no matter where or who is playing, don't think anyone else has that

hitpehoaos wrote:Roberts wrote:Farken AFL has just announced 800,000 members across 18 teams Doesn't sound right? That's more than 40,000 members per club It's extremely misleading because the "memberships" include all forms, not just season ticket holders. i would say at most clubs almost half their memberships would be for non full ticket items, such as pet memberships, 3 game memberships etc. This doesn't give a true reflection of fan financial support. As an example, GWS claim they have more than 13k members, yet their avg crowd attendances are well under 10k and would include walk ups and free tickets. So i would assume they probably only have 4 maybe 5k of actual full season ticket holders. I think the way we count it in the a-league is certainly more accurate, and although it won't give us the big headlines, at least we know where we stand and can relatively accurately predict our attendance base from it.

Haha Davo, i swear i didn't update you to add on the extra 1 member... timing issues ;)
Edit: Just realised you forgot to update the total anyway, exact same numbers overall.
Read an earlier mention in the thread that victory are well over 16k, so hopefully this figure should jump a bit soon!

If you want to see a full membership table go to http://www.fromthestandsal.com/membershiptracker/ A few interesting battles taking place to. Great to see over 76k memberships sold 50 days before the season.

What are the tv viewing figures like compared to last year? And I would imagine the AFL will be well aware as to where they stand and the changes that need to be made. Once they implement a raft of changes in the off season, im sure come next season supporters will be rather forgiving.
