Australia (like many white Western countries) are stereotyped by many PC people as the most "racist" in the world, when infact they are the most tolerant and accepting.

According to this survey, India, Jordan, Hong Kong, and South Korea are among the most racist in the world. Australia, USA, Canada and the Scandinavian countries are the most tolerant.

Tolerance is a feature of the first world.

I've had 2 major brushes with Racism.
Both in India.
My family line comes from Scotland and I live in Scandinavia, so I'm a tad pasty. Not porcelain, but white.

I have been called both "Mr. Coconut" and "Coconut-man" (separate occasions)

I think Australia suffers from 'casual' racism, we are mostly tolerant although we expect people to conform to our mostly anglo saxon/christian views on society....most Aussies could quite easily call someone a 'curry muncher' or a "insert a derogatory term for aborigines for example' and then walk into a church put their hand on a bible and swear to their God most fervently in their genuine belief that they aren't racist.

Part of it comes from 'our' Australian type of humour, partly from a lack of understanding, partly because our societies expectations to conform and partly out of a sense of superiority...'yes we have to tolerate these migrants, thank goodness they don't live near me'....'they can have the menial jobs our dole bludgers wont do'...The problem with casual racism is it less overt and more conniving, I wont call you a 'paki' or 'something else' I just wont give you the job....

Other places are way more racist so whatever happens here is all sweet. Solid logic.

I make "racist" jokes all the time. Do I hate Indians, Arabs, Asians, Jews? Hell no. I'm well aware that this country wouldn't be as good as it is without the multicultural aspect.

Two things:

1. You don't have to have Jewish ancestry to practice Judaism.

2. If you're criticising a Jew based on his religious beliefs then that is ok, if its based on his race then it is wrong.

Most Jews I know are secular. They don't believe in God and are Jewish only because of their race (but are not Zionists).

So what is the Jewish race ?? Are they Israelites? Or something else .As I known plenty of people who are Jewish but are ethnic Russian jews

I find it interesting that the West gets pegged as "racist" when they are literally civil wars in places like Africa & the Middle East because slightly different variations of a religion or a slightly different tribal difference from thousands of years ago make these 99.99% similar people go around beheading each other and massacring entire cities.

I think another interesting aspect of casual racist jokes is that the majority of Aussies think its ok here, but what if they were to tell casual racist jokes if they were in another country. Would it still be ok?

Depends where you're at. Asians hate blacks more than whites do, so you could make black jokes there. I hear the Middle-East isn't find if Israel, so you could make Jew jokes there.
