Joe Cole Staying At Chelsea - Scolari

Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has insisted that midfielder Joe Cole will remain at Stamford Bridge, despite reports linking the England international with a move away from the club.
The 27-year-old’s Chelsea contract runs out at the end of next season and, with the club admitting that talks have yet to begin regarding an extension, Cole’s future has been subject to speculation.
Tottenham Hotspur are one club linked with a move for the midfielder, with Harry Redknapp believed to be keen to be reunited with a player he managed at West Ham United.
Furthermore, Cole is thought to have grown frustrated with life under Scolari and in particular the fact he is regularly substituted during games.
However, according to quotes appearing in the English press, Scolari has insisted that Cole is going nowhere.
When asked whether Cole would be staying at Chelsea, Scolari confimed that the midfielder figured in his plans. He said: "Yes, he will.
"He is a fantastic player and important for the club and for me. He scores many goals and his future is here."
Cole arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2003 and has previously pledged his future to the club. Still, he clearly showed his discontent at being substituted during last weekend’s FA Cup tie against Southend.
He has suffered an injury-interrupted campaign so far, managing to last 90 minutes on only one occasion - the 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge back in September.
Interestingly, Chelsea face United in the return fixture tomorrow. The last time the Blues won at Old Trafford, Cole was amongst the scorers as the West Londoners cruised to a 3-1 win.

Yeah, that's been floating around for a couple of days, Scolari said he's going nowhere. Also, Cole is just about he biggest toss-bag going around, not too fussed if that doesn't happen.

In other news, a couple of the ITK's on yids forum say that Appiah til the end of the season is done and dusted.

Leave to who? What club is going to pay the 22-23mil+ it'll cost to sign him?

As well as Downing? He plays for Middlesbrough. We'll either get one or the other, though probably none, as they play in the same position.

Well Harry still wants him. And there's talk of a 16mil offer.

Doubt it. That would mean spurs had business sense. And he's not worth anythign close to that.

I had no idea you were privy to his innermost thoughts. What's our starting line up going to be tomorrow?

You can accuse Daniel Levy of many things, but business sense is the one thing he does have. You say a team will sign him in six months, and then say no one will pay the price he will inevitably cost. Sometimes you seem incredibly dense afro ](*,)

Sell striker for 7.5mil. Buy back striker for 15mil. Make -7.5mil profit...Yes, I see you're right!

Why would he cost in excess of 22mil?

Yeah, let us completely disregard the huge profits made on Keane and Berbatov, the massive growth of our club brand and annual profits and plans for a new stadium.

Oh? So he is responsible for buying players, but not selling them? Afro, something you need to learn sooner or later is you can't bend your view to fit certain parts of the truth while rejecting other parts. You do it all the time.

How is that speculative in any way? Levy is responsible for selling players, and he got an amazing price for Berba, and a ridiculously good price for Keane, as I'm sure you know realise.

Why does it always have to be so tiresome with you? You constantly change the thrust of your argument so you don't appear to be wrong; originally it was that Defoe will leave in 6 months, then when you realised the folly of that it was that Spurs have bad business sense, then when you realised that was wrong it was that we're not responsible for our own transfers.
No, I don't expressly know that no-one would have got a better deal than Levy, but I would be positively astounded if anyone did.

Darren Bent Seeking Transfer Away From Tottenham?
The arrival of Jermain Defoe could signal the end of Bent's career at White Hart Lane...

The British tabloid the Daily Mirror is speculating that forward Darren Bent could be on his way out of Tottenham Hotspur after the signing of Jermain Defoe.

The pair were of course team-mates at White Hart Lane for the beginning of the 2007/08 season, before Defoe moved to Portsmouth last January.

It is claimed that the strike-duo experienced a turbulent relationship, with arguments revolving around 'football, friends and the height of their public profile'.

It is also reported that Bent tried to arrange a date with Chantelle Houghton, formerly of Celebrity Big Brother, who was a previous girlfriend of Defoe.

Apparently, the former Ipswich Town and Charlton Athletic star has also fell out of favour with other Spurs players, especially following an incident where he appeared to direspect club captain Ledley King in the dressing room.

Although he is Tottenham's top league scorer this season with seven goals, Bent has failed to cement his place in the first-team.

Everton and Newcastle are the clubs being linked with a move for the man who cost £16.5 million when he signed from Charlton Athletic in 2007.
