Bale will stay this year, no doubt about that. If he wants to leave next year, we'll miss out because his price will come down so we really need to have a solid season. UCL will be tough, with Europa commitments this year, but if we recruit well in the coming months it should be achievable.

Still pretty sure bale will stay, but I'm not as confident as I once was. Hopefully a new winger won't be an issue. In saying that, I have faith that baldini/AVB will find a suitable replacement with the cash at their disposal.

The official club line has been 'Bale is not for sale'. Early in the window Levy said it would take a world record bid for us to even consider it. Unfortunately we've been tested.

Still, 85 mil is a massive amount if money. I'm not too sure what other options we might have, but for that kind if money we can bring in 2 key players into the squad.

Steven Caulker apparently set to sign for Cardiff.

7 or 8 mil apparently. Mixed thoughts, it's a decent price but he has improved a lot recently. It'll be hard for him to get game time this year with Kaboul fit too.

Selling Caulker, imo, makes absolutely no sense. He's 21 with the potential to be a top top defender. Unless he's really pushing to leave I don't see any point in letting him go.

Oh definitely. I don't want to see him go, but he made a decent no. of appearances last year and I don't see him wanting to sit on the bench for much longer. Wouldn't mind a load deal instead of transfer.

The thing is, at 85 you're taking a MASSIVE gamble that Bale is going to a) back up his form again this season, b) not get injured and c) not demand a transfer, any of which would see you be lucky to get 50m in a season's time.

Correct. The chances are that he won't win it back to back, but there's no saying he can't improve further, especially in AVB's system.

I have a slight feeling that behind closed doors Bale might be saying he wants to leave, and Levy is just playing hardball to get the bid up.

In saying that, if you're a player and want to leave a club, but at the beginning of the window you have a 80mil price tag lt on your head, you are most definitely going to say something early.

There is no doubt that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for both Bale and Spurs.

Any club would be crazy not to cash in on an 85m offer. The only player who you wouldn't think about it is probably Messi.

Brilliant transfer window so far with Paulinho, Chadli and Soldado - plus we've kept Bale for this long and attracted a world record bid.

Only disappointing thing is departures. By now we should've shipped off adebayor and another AM (Dempsey). Shame to lose Caulker as well.

Reports this morning that Bale showed up at the Lane today and told AVB and Levy that he officially wants out.

Reports of this over the past few days, but still no quotes. I have a suspicion that behind closed doors, bale might have said he wants to go.

Gotta admire the professionalism of him though, it'd be very easy to succumb to the dick sucking of Real management and half of the squad.

We kinda got stuck with him on deadline day last year and he hasn't really performed. We have too many of these AM's who play wide and Dempsey doesn't really fit the system. Looks as though AVB prefers siggy and holtby as impact type players, and Dempsey can't compete with Lennon or bale for the wing spots. I know early on in the window it was reported that we were officially looking to let him go, but I don't think any bids have come in.

From what I understand our 'out' list is:
Adebayor - 2mil / whatever anyone is willing to pay
Parker - 2/3 mil
Huddlestone - 5 mil
Dempsey -4/5mil

Benny AE is also on the out, but we haven't get the quality or depth to get rid of him without signing a new wingback.

I meant more of the media hype around it. I,e. Casillas, Ramos, kaka, Zindane, etc saying come - and then seeing Bale reply.

At the end of the day, it's Real Madrid. There is no shame in saying you want to move to the biggest club in the world. But, the professionalism is with his silence in the media.

Requesting to leave in flagrant disregard of your contract is still succumbing to the bullshit IMO. Just because he's not being as openly petulant as the likes of Suarez and Lewandowski doesn't mean that he's not being a dick about it.

No chance that they've added another 20m in the last two days when there are reports of Bale requesting to leave. £90m = ~€105m. So that's more likely.

There's no solid proof that he's requested to leave, only articles saying he told AVB he wants to, with no real backbone to the statement. Anyway, so I'm gathering from your statement that there is no 'good' way to deal with being transferred, unless you're a free agent with no contractual requirements.

If a club makes an offer for you which your club accepts then that's all well and good. If a club makes an offer and discusses it with the player then that's sweet. But players demanding to leave and thinking that they can call the shots and that they're bigger than the club does my head in.
