Palace lacked a bit of quality in the final third. If they'd had it, could've got an equaliser.

showed how much they missed Zaha.

Without a doubt but he alone would not have made a massive difference. Palace look like they're set for a very long season.

Very plucky though. Can see them frustrating some of the bigger teams given how hard they were to break down today.

Not enough going forward to stay up though I don't think.

They definitely need a decent striker.

Gayle looks shithouse. Chamakh could be ok but he can't do much when all he gets is long balls to the edge of the box. I think they need a quality midfielder first and foremost.

The main reason Spurs had trouble breaking them down was because there wasn't really anybody on the park for Spurs who bossed the game and controlled the tempo. The game was played according to how Palace dictated. Spurs really missed having Sandro out there.

Not really, palace had Zero midfield presence. They only ever looked dangerous on the counter and many times a poor pass in midfield halted their chance for a counter.

We need some more fluidity, which will come with time. Despite only scoring 1 goal, we created a fair few good chances. Chadli had a chance on the stroke of HT, Siggy had a shot go inches wide and Defoe had 2 solid chances a the end.

Thought the debutants looked good. Capoue was a boss when he came on, Soldado did well with the little service he had, Paulinho plays a bit of an understated role and looked good, Chadli provides some flair and looks promising from a physical perspective.

Sorry, I didn't realise that songs sung in the terrace were owned by specific clubs. How dare any other club sing YNWA. How dare another club sing whatever the fuck you're whining about that Southampton sing.

Solid result this morning. 5-0 in Georgia. Danny Rose scored a great goal, but Townsend was my motm. A goal and two assists, he played really well and could prove to be a good impact player in more important games.

So good left footed players in that squad.

Paulinho gave me a hard on with his runs.

Our lineup for Swansea at The Lane:

------------------Lloris-----------------
Walker-Dawson-vertonghen-rose
--------Capoue-Paulinho------------
--------------Dembele-----------------
Townsend-------------------Chadli
-----------------Soldado-------------

Great to see Capoue and Townsend rewarded for their fine form. Would've thought it would be better for Townsend to come off the bench.

HT 0-0.

Plenty of chances created by us, one cleared off the line and should have had a pen in the 45th min. Townsend cuts into the box, is taken out by shelvey and ref gives a free kick.

Again, similar to last week, looking very good defensively and building from the back but a bit lost when we get into the attacking third. Finished the half a lot better, especially when Dembele got on the ball. Paulinho and Capoue are having great games. Looking fantastic.

This ref must be fairly new, he isn't having the best of games. A few Swansea players going into the book for good tackles/dissent.

FT 1-0. Another solid performance, especially in defence. Disappointing that we relied on a penalty again, but I think it's more to do with the team gelling as a unit, especially going forward. We showed in the 1st half that we can create, Paulinho's couple of missed chances thankfully didn't hurt us.

Rose was solid, Dawson and Jan were great as usual, Paulinho had a great game but was a bit quiet towards the end, Chadli did well, Soldado didn't get much service and I think Dembele's starting spot is at risk. Capoue is an absolute machine, he has hit the ground running. Townsend also played well, did his 1st team chances no harm in this game - We really needed his directness and he got us the pen.

 if only.

I think it has a lot to do with team cohesion as well. We have 2 new CM's (who don't even speak the same language and are only passable at English) and a new left side around a rotating Dembele/Sigurdson. It will take time, but that permanent, central AM would prove very useful. Maybe Holtby can be a revelation if given the chance.

Andre Villas-Boas on yesterday's game: wrote:

“At the moment, these are excellent signs, signs of a team that is mature and knows what to do to gain the right result,” said Andre.
“You never know what can happen in the future but at the moment we’re showing a winning mentality and that’s helping us to get results. It’s a good start.
“We deserved to win, created lots of chances, were sound defensively and that’s why we had so much of the ball against a team that normally dominates other teams.
“Our shape was tremendous, Capoue protecting and Paulinho’s workrate was immense. I’m really happy with the performance.”

That last part sums it up really well. Capoue and Paulinho will most likely be our central partnership moving forward and the sort of form they're showing is really promising. We just need to sort out our central AM spot.

On Townsend's performance it could be worth trying him there and bringing Lennon back out wide.
