Have you seen the gilt edged chances he's missed in the past 2 games? The one against Dnipro was top shelf fail.

I'd rather keep Defoe at this rate or bring Roman Pavyluchenko back

Yes have to agree soldado missed 2 sitters last game - that un opposed header should have been bagged at this level and the point blank shot sure on angle at least could have asked the keeper for a save but for it sliced high to the right.

I agree the Defoe offload was baffling you could really have used him of late always had a go.

Someone has to say something in this thread, it was almost off page 2

Louis Van Gaal rumours still doing the rounds, would be a good signing.

There's 2 Yids and about 10 Glory Hunting scummers from Woolwich in south London

You always manage to find the time to post in the Arsenal thread :-$

I post in the active ones. Just because I hope your team gets relegated doesn't mean I can't appreciate the football you play.

Haha most Gooners started supporting them during the invincible years. That's why the bulk of Arsenal supporters complain so much

Did you take a survey on when arsenal started supporting and why?

Just because people support a decent club, doesn't mean they don't actually have a real connection to it!

Yes I did :)

The survey was observe the abundance of retards around the interwebs who claim to support Arsenal but couldn't tell me who Steve Bould is

The Kent had it coming barging into him.

Soldado should have gone instead of the bloke who "head butted" Super Jan. That was embarrassing to watch.

Sure chicky micky, whether you are from a long line a neanderthals from Ipswich or Haringay, who would know? Either way I wouldn't swap. It would take a fair effort to "catch out" a random on the internet about their family history, you can say whatever you want.

Just because you support a success starved club, isn't a reason to assume others are glory hunters...

Good win by Spurs, really enjoyed Townsend's performance. Gee Chadli is a massive dud though, sell him!!!

I really believe if England stands any chance of doing well in the WC they need one or two flair players who can do the unpredictable, even if they lose the ball at times. Townsend is one such player. (Wilshire is another but there's no place for a Gooner in a Spurs thread  ).

Chadli needs to show more for me. He's had glimpses of quality but not enough. He is rumoured to be unhappy to and may look to leave.

I do not rate Townsend at all. He's unpredictable and his final ball is usually poor. What he's got is pace and confidence to shoot. If he can work hard and get a bit more game sense he might be a long term Left mid for us.

Wilshire has temperament issues. He's a good player but loses his head under pressure IMO. Something for him to work on.

With players like Townsend you work on all their bad points at training, then give them a structure on game day and tell them to just go for it. I think AT will get a lot better in the next year or two.

I just see nothing in Chadli.

Re Wilshire, I agree he's not the finished article either, but Rooney used to lose his head too. So did Gazza (not putting him in Rooney or Gazza's class though). But he has the ability to not just run and pass and actually do the unpredictable thing and beat a player with a feint and a dribble, which is something really rare from a English CM these days.

And to do well in a WC you need a couple of players capable of doing that.

Yeh agreed with AT, the problem is that he seems to not have match awareness and will consistently blast a shot from a far. They're fine if they trouble the keeper but when a cross is a better option it gets frustrating. Particularly so when during the AVB era we were struggling to break teams down (even though we still do  ).

Chadli needs a run in the team I think. He was solid without standing out early in the season. If he applies himself and attempts to beat players/uses his physicality a bit more he could be a good player for us.

Wilshire (this hurts to say) is probably Englands best creative midfield option moving forward.

I feel like you just lack that match winning factor. It's obviously what Bale gave you and what you hoped to recapture with either Soldado or Lamela but that hasn't worked out. When you look at the top teams they all have players that single handedly win games on a semi regular basis (Aguero, Hazard, Suarez, RVP, and so on)

I feel the lack of that could be the difference.

I don't disagree with you. In games such as the one against Norwich we had no real threat. In Bale we had the hope that something would turn around. Nowadays we huff and puff without anything happening. Lamela has a big offseason coming up if he stays. We paid too much for him to be a write off.

I never saw Lamela play prior to coming to WHL. Surely he is better than the garbage he produced this season. To me he has been the epitome of failure. Maybe he's lost confidence, maybe he was being played out of position, maybe there were injuries.

FWIW he seemed to me a central striker being played out wide who just couldn't cope with that role. Maybe now with 2 strikers again he could start producing.

Soldado will come good, I think he has what it takes.

The way I see it - give Lamela a good preseason and a run up front, play Soldado with Adebayor and Lamela first sub striker, get rid of Chadli and go back to good old fashioned wingplay with Townsend and Lennon.

Play Paulinho with Ericsson and you have a good, attacking lineup. Options of Sandro for Ericsson to go more defensive.

Post Bale hard act to follow - he was the x factor as we all know and thats all thats really missing now is Goals when you look at the table.
Had a lot of new players to bed in but letting Defoe go was very puzzling considering how the team was going, he has always been that get out of jail type of player.
Mind you after last years highs to this years low/s there's only 10 points diff to 1st and 6 to 4th.
Hanging in there tbh........

To be honest I don't actually know what the plan for Lamela was. He's not a winger. I think it's a similar situation to that of Podolski at Arsenal.

I tend to agree with your plan for Lamela but I don't know how happy he'll be playing 1st sub. I'd like to think that Adebayor will continue his form but realistically it's Adebayor

I have to say I don't rate Paulinho that highly. I just haven't seen him live up to expectations. Dembele on the other hand is fairly consistent and his dribbling skills are amazing. Then we also have Siggy, Sandro, Capoue, Bentaleb etc.

Our wingers aren't good enough any more. The jury really is out on Aaron Lennon. Andros Townsend also needs a lot of work. Too often he runs around like a headless chook.

Exactly right look at our single figure goal difference compared to the 4 teams about us.

We have a tough run coming up start against Chelsea this weekend, the Benfica, then Arsenal, then Benfica, then Liverpool. Kill me now!

I think Southampton are in there somewhere too. If we can come out with a draw against Arsenal and Liverpool, and a win against Arsenal, we'll be in a very good position. Disagree about Lennon, he has been excellent in the past month or so. As for Lamela, injuries haven't helped him, he WILL come good IMO.

He doesn't score enough goals. His intentions are always obvious. He doesn't get into enough goal scoring positions. His crossing ability has never been good enough.

What I want Lennon to do is beat his man and find the head of on-coming strikers. That should be his job.

He's been better but overall the jury is out this season. Not consistent enough. Never has been.

What a great team selection from Sherwood there. Best CB? Play him at LB. Best RB? Play him at RW. Best RW? Play him at CAM.

Not to mention Gylfi over dare I say it Townsend/Eriksen.

Please line up like that in the derby, please.
